east bay on 80 westbound there is a car that spun out on elportal drive. if you are taking the ramp, keep an eye out for headlights that may be in your vision. looks like if you are making plans to take 80 westbound between now and 6:30, three lanes will be closed due to painting some road striping, so we'll keep you posted. back to the dream team. >> all right, anthony. thank you. new this morning good news for the silicon valley economy, probably bad if your commute takes you through the peninsula or the south bay. >> linkedin is going to build another campus. arturo santiago is live with more and also growing concerns over potential increased traffic. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. just to give you an idea of where we're or where this campus will be, it's a half mile off 101, on the 500 block of north matilda avenue between the comfort inn and the key point

building and linkedin plans to move in in july 2014. the company announced that it closed a deal to lease 580,000 square feet here in sunny veil. the new campus would accommodate up to 2900 employees. when the time comes there could be significant traffic issues between this campus and the facebook campus in men low park. you recall there were major concerns when facebook made its move several months ago. for linkedin, its lease will extend to 2026, that's according to the regulatory filing. the company will still, however, be headquartered in mountain view. this is a major expansion, the owners of the property have agreed to tear down some of the smaller existing buildings so that linkedin can build its future campus. we're live in sunny veil. arturo santiago, "today in the bay."

>> only on nbc foster city police chief will address concerns over the release of a teen rob roy suspect believed involved in a series of break-ins. 18-year-old justin shane broke into two homes on moot sonia drive. and the first officers say he stood over a 17-year-old's bed and assaulted her. a week later he allegedly broke into another home, this time he was caught by the owner who held him until police arrived because he was a first-time offender he was released on bail. neighbors say whether or not he did it they don't want him in that area. >> i don't want him here. i'm not taking it well at all. i want him gone. i don't think somebody who can stand to do something like this with the moxie that he had does not deserve to be here. >> residents will hold a neighborhood watch meeting tonight at 7:00, foster city's police chief says he will be there to address concerns neighbors have. >> palo alto police releasing a

sketch of a man they say sexually assaulted a shopper. a man who looks like this approached a woman in a parking lot near nordstrom yesterday, groped her and took off. that victim a woman in her 30s described the suspect as an indian male about 30 with a medium build wearing a yellow hooded sweatshirt at the time of the attack. investigators say the same man is likely responsible for another sexual assault that occurred last week about two miles away near downtown palo alto. >> san jose city leaders think new jobs will help solve a spike in crime. many youth with criminal records attend classes at the center where they learn job skills. after graduating they are usually hired by companies that partner with the city to give kids with criminal record as second chance. the program is run with federal dollars and nearly 300 kids take advantage of the program at work to future every year.

>> four men behind bars and a potential home burglary foiled thanks to a neighbor who knew what to do and when to do. the san pablo woman looked out her window yesterday morning and saw four men at her neighbor's house. she called the person who lived there, he was out shopping at the time and he asked her to call the police. she did, and then helped lead officers to the suspects. >> this is my section that i pray for, my neighborhood. we split it up with a map and i took it personal that this is my area and i'm praying over my area and i don't want no crime here. >> that's right. the woman's help, police captured four suspects who say they were in a stolen car. police say crime in the city is up a big time 42% over last year this time. >> yosemite national park reports the number of cancellations ahead of the labor day holiday weekend. park officials say campers appear to be frightened away by

the recent hantavirus outbreak. at least four visitors contracted the virus in june, two died and two are recovering. the virus is spread by exposure to deer mouse droppings. the campers all stayed in curry village in the tent cabins over a 10-day period in june. the park has now alerted as many as 3,000 people who visited over the summer. the park says all cabins have been cleaned. >> it's the final day of the republican convention down in tampa bay and tonight mitt romney officially becoming the party's nominee and he will be delivering what could be the most important speech of his political life. while there is a lot of speculation about what he'll be saying this morning, we have heard from his running mate paul ryan. he accepted the party's vice presidential nomination in a speech filled with criticism of president obama and a promise to fix the fiscal crisis. >> i accept the duty to help lead our nation out of a jobs

crisis and back to prosperity. >> before ryan took the stage former secretary of state condoleezza rice gave her enforcement of the presidential hopeful. she endorsed him big time. people in southern louisiana and mississippi waking up under water this morning and facing a day of tropical storm isaac. the slow-moving storm may not have had the strength of a hurricane, specifically katrina, but it's leaving a mess in the wake there. hundreds of people now staying in shelters, the federal levees have done their job. president obama has declared federal emergencies in hard hit areas of louisiana and mississippi. >> some of the neighborhoods that were spared by katrina are getting hit this time by isaac. >> a lot of fear down there. hopefully this keeps it under control. >> we're blessed with great weather. meteorologist christina loren, how is it looking? >> good morning to you.

and you know we're getting closer to the weekend. people start to perk up when we get to the seven-day forecast as we approach friday and saturday. you can make the outdoor plans and we're going to get a beautiful weekend inland. temperatures aren't going to be that comfortable at the coast, a little cool, a drop-off on the way. however, nice enough for you to hit the beach for the last couple weekends of summer. st. paul around the corner so. i wanted to show what you we expect. we stop the clock on your futurecast at 8:00 a.m. at that point it will likely extend from san francisco to oakland. most of the bay area clear at that point. throughout day today we're going to see another clear day. in fact, we have a full moon out there, hopefully we'll get a live shot of that for you but these are where your temperatures are headed. 77 in oakland, 70 in san francisco, and 76 degrees down in santa cruz. so, if you want to make those weekend plans i've got the seven-day outlook in my next report.

>> good thursday morning everybody. how you doing today. give you a live look over san jose, the lights twinkling in the early morning darkness. christina loren says another beautiful day. we'll tell you more about that. it's 4:44. this morning we're learning more about the controversial book "no easy day." a first-hand account from a navy seal there when osama bin laden was shot and killed. the author wrote under a

pseudonym but has been officered. he says that bin laden was looking out the window from his bedroom door when he was shot in the head at his compound in pakistan. previously the white house said that bin laden was kill affidavit resisting capture. he says the goal was to kill or capture bin laden. the pentagon is reviewing the book to make sure it has no classified information. the author has been criticized by members of the navy seal who is have long operated under a code of strict secrecy. >> wall street is waiting for a big announcement from the fed and the impact of tropical storm isaac is being felt far from the eye of the storm. we turn to kayla tausche live at cnbc for all of the news before the bell. good morning. >> good morning. stock futures this morning are lower after stocks posted mild gains wednesday, markets started pushing higher just before the release of the fed's latest beige book report which found the economy is gradually expanding in different regions

of the country. analysts say that probably means while the economy is growing it's not recovering well enough to stop the fed from launching another round of stimulus programs. we get data on unemployment and personal and income and spending, the dow rising 4 points to 13,107, the nasdaq also up 4 to 3081. tropical storm isaac is causing more pain for drivers at the pump. the national average after gallon of gas was nearly 5 cents wednesday to $3.80 t biggest one-day jump in 18 months. the storm shut off nearly a million barrels a day from gulf coast refiners but the biggest spike came in midwestern states like illinois and indiana, that's because shell had to close a pipeline that delivers crude from louisiana to refineries up north. gas is 4.16 in oakland and $4.22 in san francisco. back to you. >> thank you so much. >> the time is 4:46. we welcome back in the lady in

red to tell us about a friday eve and going into a holiday weekend. >> oh, yes. holiday weekend. nonetheless we'll be here on monday. if you've got to work, wake up with us, we'll be here in full effect just like this full moon. take a look at that. crystal clear shot of that moon. you can make out some of the craters on that moon because it's so clear out there. what i can tell you is you want to take advantage of the beach if you have the day off we're not going to get that many great beach days. we transition into fall. yes, summer coming to a sudden halt on september 21. 56 in oakland, starting out at 56 in san francisco and 58 degrees in sunnyvale this morning. what i can tell you is we have changes on the way. our temperatures are going to swing up and down starting tomorrow. cool at the koexts temperatures only ending up in the 70s and we're expecting the 90s today so a significant drop-off between today and tomorrow.

then temperatures spike back up as we head through the second half of your weekend. so, stick around, that seven-day is coming up. i want to point out your highs. a little hot in fairfield. starting out at 70, likely hitting 96. today, 92 in concord, 70 again in san francisco, and then look at our temperature changes. between thursday and friday we go from 91 to 79, and then between saturday and sunday we go from 84 to 97 degrees so really no consistency. but hey, we're going to get a couple of great beach days before fall arrives. you all know that fog comes with fall so things are going to change. >> thanks. 4:48. one week after being stripped of seven tour de france titles lance armstrong is still calling himself a tour de france champion. >> i am a cancer survivor, i've been asked to talk about my story of survivorship. i'm the father of five, and yes, i won the tour de france seven times. >> armstrong made those comments

yesterday in montreal at a cancer conference, it was met with applause as you heard by the audience. you will probably remember he was stripped of his official tour de france titles in the wake of doping allegations. armstrong never admitted to doping and said the scandal will not impact his charitable work for cancer research >> the largest paralympics games are under way. they got off to a rousing start with the big time show, the dancers and the fireworks, even british royalty looking on. wheelchair bound steven hocking began by reading from the stage, queen elizabeth, she made an appearance declaring the games open after the procession of athletes into the olympic stadium. 4200 athletes are taking part this year. by the way, one absence in the royal box, prince harry. fresh off of his memorable trip to vegas. the prince's first public appearance since his las vegas vacation will come this monday.
