4:33 am
business in san francisco but it is creating a headache for travelers. if you drive, expect to spend a lot of time looking at brake lights. consider yourself lucky if you live here. travelers without a hotel reservation may be out of luck. most hotels booked solid. even room at a hospital is hard to come by. >> i really want to book a hostel or downtown in san francisco and enjoy my last weekend. i'm calling all these hostels and they say, oh, no, it's the america's cup. >> some say they sold out of rooms for this weekend two months ago. we'll have live coverage of the events all weekend long. head to nbcbayarea.com or follow us on twitter. coming up we'll check on the giants and a's as they begin to start their runs. no doubt it is a nonstop weekend but it's not just the traffic that will put a wrinkle

morning it's up to $4.52. in san jose it was $4.37 and now it's up to $4.53. analysts are attributing it to mishaps at some of the state's 14 refineries, causing a gas shortage and a problem with an oil pipeline. the chevron refinery in richmond back in august was also cited as a contributing factor. now, all of this is having a huge impact on drivers here in the bay area. many of whom are being forced to shell out more than $100 just to fill up. >> i'm going to stop because it's outrageous. >> with the gas prices rising and my income level staying the same, it's very difficult to, you know, to be able to afford gas and other things, rent and things like that. >> reporter: in southern california the gas shortage forced some costco gas stations
4:36 am
an a few others to short down. asked if there will be any relief any time soon, analysts predict prices will continue to prize in the coming week. 1 analyst said if there are more problems at the state refineries, you can expect prices to stay the same or go even higher. live in cupertino, monte francis, "today in the bay." >> thank you very much, monte. new details this morning in the sexual abuse case involving a teacher at albany middle school. police say several victims have now come forward. james izumizaki was arrested last week on suspicion of lewd acts with a former student. he was found dead in his car less than a week later. in a new report police now confirm his death was a suicide. police also say several girls have come forward claiming the sixth grade teacher molested them. it sparked outrage among parents who say police acted rashly.
