all packers tonight. not just the score board but the individual numbers reflect it. aaron rodgers 24 of 37. six touchdowns. didn't have one pick. half of his sick touchdowns went to jordy nelson who caught nine all told for more than 120 yards. he and rodgers are the players of the game. as it happens, rodgers is on the field with his teammate from the other side of the ball, charles woodson and they are both with michele. >> michele: aaron, yesterday, you told us we're close. and i'm going to play better. six touchdown passes, a new career high. no interceptions. i tell you, it's tough to play better than that. what changed tonight? >> well, i think we're all just tired of answering questions about what happened to the packers, what happened to me. you know? a good team effort tonight. offensive line played great. we ran the ball with effectiveness and guys making plays down the field and getting

back to the way we are capable of playing. haven't gone anywhere. >> michele: you haven't gone anywhere. your receivers stepped up for you tonight. you talked how much you missed jennings but jory nelson, three touchdowns. james jones had two more touchdowns, you know, third game in a row for him. why were the receivers able to be so effective out there? >> well, they are great players. they made some big-time catches tonight. both james' catches were incredible catches. jordy is the type of player you put the ball in his area he usually comes up with it. crabtree had a good catch on third. mike called a great game and we put it altogether tonight. >> michele: you said to us outside the sky is falling and inside locker room we are fine and have a lot of pride. what do you think you told the critics tonight? >> sshh! >> michele: congratulations, aaron. what a defensive performance charles woodson. you told me before the game you had to stop the run and did it

cris just pointed out in commercial the packers won the super bowl two years ago and they were 3-3. >> cris: started out 3-3 and got pretty good. >> speaking of 3-3 teams, that is what the pittsburgh steelers hope to get to next week. meanwhile, the cincinnati bengals at home and first time done a "sunday night football" regular season in cincinnati and turns out to be a big game. the ravens, of course, lead in the division, but several impactful injuries for baltimore today. >> you talk about lardarius webb and ray lewis and haloti ngata and say that is their best player at every level of the defense. so as we see so many times and terrell suggs, of course, not being there as well. so the pittsburgh steelers with their injuries on the offensive line, can they get it going here after a slow start? cincinnati bengals losing to the dolphins and the browns in

right now nbc bay area news. santa clara is on the short list of hosting the super bowl in a few years. you might be surprised where the money is going. when there's been a crackdown around violence at candlestick sports. and violence heats up as officials battle over that city's police department. good evening. i'm diane dwyer. we are on a special-time tonight because of football. we begin with another case of fan violence, an argument

between football fans near candlestick park this afternoon, just as the game was getting started ended up with one man stabbing another. it happened near harner way close to candlestick park. a 27-year-old man near oak grove and sacramento was hanging out with a group of friends when two men approached them. an argument started and someone stabbed the 27-year-old man. crews rushed him to the hospital with serious injuries and authorities say the victim is expected to survive. police arrested a 22-year-old man from daily city and 30-year-old man from san francisco. as for the game, the 49ers lost to the defending super bowl champ, the new york giants. we'll have highlights in a bit. there's a chance the 49ers could host the big game in four years in santa clara and also word the big winner could be san francisco. kimberly has the story.

>> reporter: diane, we expect to know as soon as tomorrow whether the bay area is in contention to host the most widely watched sports event. if it happens it will be played at the new niners stadium but much of the 50 is in san francisco. the bid is for 50 or 51 to be played in 2016 and 2017, it requires a team play at least two seasons in a stadium before hosting a super bowl. the 2016 game would be the 49ers first chance. the last time the bay area hosted a super bowl was 1985 at stanford and fans we talked to including the santa clara mayor are excited at the prospect of showcasing the bay area again. >> a city is a city and people will want to come here and have a good time and spend their money here. >> we can have the game in santa

just finished playing st. louis at at&t park. it was a tough loss and it could be a tough ride home for many fans. we're learning there's a problem with b.a.r.t. right now. at the ballpark with more on tonight's game and that major b.a.r.t. delay. hey, monty. >> . >> reporter: b.a.r.t. is experiencing many delays and will affect people leaving the ballpark. we understand it was not running for an hour tonight because a person walked into the tube. police apparently located that person at 7:45 and then the train began running into the tube once again. you should expect residual delays for the rest of the night. as for this game, sadly the giants did not win. giants have not given up hope that the team will make it all the way to the world series. a sold-out crowd cheered on giants at at&t park as fans
