oh, that's cute. we're back now with sara in the city. this time our sara haines found herself against the ropes. >> she was dangling from one of jersey city's tallest skyscrapers. >> that's right. the nice folks at the american cancer society invited me to rappel from 33 stories up in a fundraising appropriately called "over the edge." it's 480 feet to the top of the harbor side financial center plaza 5 building in jersey city.

people are actually braving the elements and rappelling down to raise donations for the american cancer society. look at that guy, he's showing off. acs volunteer jenny saldana agreed to rappel with me for moral support. at only 34 years old, jenny was diagnosed with breast cancer. she went through chemotherapy and a mastectomy, and now she's been cancer free for almost seven years. you look amazing, so today, is this one of those feats to overcome anything, why are you doing this today? >> i think it's really important to raise awareness. it's a difficult journey, but if you have someone leading the way, it's not as hard as you think it is. >> after her cancer diagnosis, jenny left her corporate job, diving into acting and writing. appearing in a web series.

why is this -- why do you do all this? hooray, hooray. >> i was alone, i was diagnosed at 34 with no family history, no no one wanted to touch me. no doctor wanted to see me. they kept dismissing me. they said there was no way that i had cancer. that's why i do it, to be there for the women who are at the beginning of their journey, because the journey never ends. i'm always looking back wondering if cancer is still near me, but i'm far enough to hold the next person's hand and say, i got you. >> jenny led the way to get harnessed up. then we headed to the roof. she chose a madonna class toik get us pumped up. we made it! we get a quick lesson and practice rappel, and then it's time to climb down. reality is sinking in.

jason. thank you, darling. coming up, easy no-carb decorating ideas for your halloween pumpkin right after this. good morning. i'm meteorologist crystal egg gather with your weather forecast. across the northwest we're dealing with a big winter storm still. high elevation snow. rain at lower elevations. even some of the valleys across the high plains could pick up on some light snow. denver, get ready. i know it's been mild. this brings much colder air your way. dramatic drop in temperatures and chance of snow by the end of the week. showers scattered through the northeast not expecting anything severe here. could see some isolated severe storms right along this boundary. something we'll be watching. boundary between some colder air and much warmer air. 84 in kansas city this afternoon. yet only 41 degrees in billings.

by thursday our cold front still marching to the east. all of these areas behind the front are going to be chilly on thursday. chilly rain. look what it does to the numbers here. we're down to 45 in minneapolis. still at 75 in chicago. cold air has made it to denver. 30s for a high on thursday with a chance of snow. 60s and 70s for the eastern seaboard. friday storm marching into the ohio valley. cooldown at kansas city at 50 now. showers and thunderstorms forecast here. high pressure starting to build across the rockies. that's going to dry things out. looking at showers and storms around florida. obviously with tropical storm sandy. that's a big system we're going to track. and the impacts we could see across the u.s. coast. notice the rain showing up for the southeast coastline and into florida. we're also looking at dangerous rip currents, big waves. do not want to be out at the beaches getting into friday and saturday. we'll see where the storm goes

joy and enthusiasm, i was watching him, and i had no idea why he was so excited, because all i saw was a toy bus. i decided i wanted to capture that joy and enthusiasm for small moments in life through photographs. >> that we tend to lose when we get older. >> often, you think you can't capture it. whenever there's motion or movement, usually, the picture doesn't look so great, but yours are different. look at these shots. these are professional dancers, is that true? you found them through social media? >> throughout the country. i would tweet and facebook when i was going to a city. and they would come out and volunteer. some of them drove for hours and hours to be a part of it. >> look at this. >> very spontaneous. we would go to a street corner, okay, what can we make happen in this street corner, buy a fish in seattle, come up with a pose together. it was all very collaborative. >> photography is in your dna, right? >> look how beautiful that is.

>> tell us about that as we're looking at these pictures. >> my grandfather was a photographer and graphic designer, my father, a filmmaker, mother a model and grandmother a painter. >> everybody, everybody. >> how can people at home take something away from this? these are beautiful. look at this. you catch it like at the perfect moment, but is there a trick to it, if you have a child and see they are in the middle of doing something fun, you want to capture that moment? >> hope a train doesn't come by. oh, my gosh, it's coming. >> certain elements in photos if there's an element of danger or unexpected, that picture represents to me a little bit of a fear factor. that's really happening. he said to me, if i fall, on the way down, make sure to tell me if you got the shot. dancers are -- they'll do anything for a shot. >> there's another one just like that. everything in the book is real, nothing is photoshopped. >> give us a one-on-one lesson. >> scary. >> 100-degree day, too, that
