this is yours! >> three years, two world championships, the giants have swept the detroit tigers to win the world series title. good for them, congratulations. good morning, i'm laura garcia-cannon. jon kelley is off today. two big stories, of course the world series win but hurricane sandy set to make landfall along the east coast. let's head right to christina loren who's tracking the storm. >> yeah, we're waiting on the next advisory locating the future track and intensity of sandy. that's coming in promptly at 5:00 this morning. right now i can tell you it is a

very powerful storm. what happened is a nor'easter merged with a hurricane and the center of low pressure could drop to levels we have never seen before. this could go down and the most intense storm to ever impact the eastern seaboard. this is a live look at new jersey. you can see we have the very, very strong waves crashing into the coastline. we're expecting landfall somewhere along the new jersey coastline as we get into this afternoon into tonight so we'll continue to track that for you. locally it's a whole other scenario. it's going to be very mild here today. temperatures in the 50s. as we head throughout this afternoon we're only expecting the 70s, and low 80s inland. we'll track what's happening with sandy as we progress through the morning. let's look at how your drive is shaping up with mike. >> definitely by comparison this is no sandy but it is an issue for the pans for the peninsula. the flashing light in the middle shows you construction pushing you over toward the right

heading toward embarcaderembarc. notice the fog and low clouds. this will be the north bay and east bay approach i'm seeing fog affecting your drive as well. it's a very light, easy drive as far as the volume of traffic. no problems heading down to the south bay. just a little construction going on. we'll find that out and give you details coming up. but good news this morning. we sure do because we're talking about winning in a sweep. after a postseason full of ups and downs the giants make the world series look easy beating the tigers on the road to become the world champions for the second time in three years. the tigers gave the giants a scare pushing the game to ten innings. sergio romo striking out miguel cabrera to clinch the title. the team hops on a plane today to come home and celebrate with their fans. they are expected to be back at at&t park later this afternoon.
4:33 am
bob redell is live there in fact for us. >> reporter: good morning, laura. you can see "giants sweep," the examiner, "champs." you've got about 30 or 40 fans that have been picking up these newspapers and were hoping they were going to see a repeat when the giants arrive 5:00 in the morning on their buses. it was a very intimate ceremony but apparently that is not the case this morning. we have talked with sfo and they are telling us their charter plane is not due to arrive until 3:00 this afternoon. apparently it has nothing to do with hurricane sandy, it could be just a decision that the team wanted to sleep in, party and not get right on the plane right away. so our understanding is that th plane is not going to arrive until 3:00, which means their arrival here at the park might be 3:30, 4:00 in the afternoon. if you are interested in catching the team, it will be at the 2nd street gate at at&t

7 to 11 feet higher than it normally would, so we're talking about not just the storm surge, very heavy rain, damaging winds and this is something that will likely knock out power in this region of the country for weeks, possibly even one month in some location so we're not taking this very lightly at all. it's a serious situation. we'll have live reporters up and down the eastern seaboard. for us it just makes your heart go out to everybody because we've got such a great pattern this week. 54 in livermore to start. our temperatures are nice and mild. as we head through your afternoon, we're not going to see the fog last long either. by noon it starts to clear the greater bay area. that sunshine is limited. by tomorrow we'll have partly cloudy to mostly cloudy conditions and the rain moves in which we need wednesday into thursday. 80 in livermore, 73 in san jose and 74 in los gatos. as we head through tuesday into wednesday, holding on to the 70s
