in his honor. this morning's memorial service will begin at 10:30. on the peninsula, four men are at stanford hospital all victims of gunshot wounds and one is in critical continue. men low park park police said the men were hanging out near 8:00 when a black honda and black acura drove by. they heard a series of gunshots and when officers arrived, the four men were shot. police are looking for suspects and the shooting happened about a mile west of the facebook campus. in san francisco, officers are trying to figure out who gunned down a man in the city's bayview neighborhood. this happened on men dell street about a block from third street after 10:00 last night. the man died. police are investigating and no suspects necessary custody. >> for a disaster hit this

morning, would you be ready? experts say we have could fare worse than the jersey shore after historic storm sandy. >> hurricane sandy came and left death and destruction behind. before it hit, the people there got plenty of warning. that won't happen here in the bay area before the next major earthquake. >> they could watch the storm getting closer and closer to the coast and people could get up and leave. >> a lot of people resist and got caught up in the super storm at the height of her wrath. seven million people were left without power. the executive director of bay area government said power will be a huge problem here in the aftermath of an earthquake. >> we will have less access to power and water after a disaster because of the kind of repairs that are needed will take longer than what happened after a major storm. >> 70 california power teams loaded on to cargo planes

of the recreational crab season. hopefully it goes very well. a group of neighbors upset over lost mail and packages set up a sting to catch thieves, but when they watched the video, even they were shocked. here's today's jody hernandez. >> they drive around in a neighborhood like experienced professionals. they are very quick. in and out. >> you are looking at evidence gathered as part of operation mail trap. a neighborhood-organized sting set on capturing mail thiefs in action. >> we wanted more evidence. we wanted to find out who was doing it. we wanted to get more details about the car. >> suspecting postal theft in the neighborhood like neighborhood watch coordinato organize the sting, putting up red flags on mail boxes and rolling surveillance cameras and the culprits took the bait. >> i feel violated.

a bit of a roller coaster ride and temperatures warm up to the 80s at least through monday or tuesday and then a big change by the end of the week. temperatures come crashing down and a very cold system by thursday and friday. we will show you the timing in the seven-day forecast. outside right now, you probably noticed the mid-and high level clouds over the bay area. the main rain event with the system is way off to the north. you can see until the ridge of high pressure builds more strongly, we are seeing high level clouds spilling over into the bay area. that is the reason why, hour by hour, you will see a lot of mid-and high level cloud cover not too much in the way of fog.

clouds start to thin out as we see a few more high clouds pass by and temperatures especially tomorrow into monday into the low 80s that could break records for this time of year. a cool start and warming up nicely in the low to mid 70s. about 73 in san jose and mid-70s further south. 78 in pleasanton. mid-70s up and down the corridor heading into the north bay. places like santa rosa into the upper 70s with north winds that help to mix in drying and warming down into santa rosa and upper 60s in richmond and san francisco. both locations by sunday should see the highs easily getting into the 70s. the first three days, near records. not today, but sunday into monday we could see that. yes, notice the time change. we get the extra hour of sleep tonight. the transition day will be

home. atlantis traveled nearly ten miles through the kennedy space center complex. from tampa bay, we see the orbiter's final journey. >> atlantis left the building where the space shift was detached to a fuel tank and rocket boosters. sitting on a transporter, it traveled along at two miles an hour, destination the kennedy visitor complex. the new home and new mission. >> it is my sincere hope that one day some young boy or girl is going to look at atlantas and i spark the dream of spark the dream of exploration in space. >> the message to the crowd is that the retirement is not the end of nasa human space flight. >> we are well on track to launch american astronauts from u.s. soil in the next few years right here from the kennedy space center.

here's today in the bay's george kir yam a. >> probably a poor choice of words based on the allegations and the complaint. >> legal analyst and attorney christian pacon is not working on the sexual abuse case, but has given us insight into the district's stunning denial to a lawsuit filed by kristin who is suing the school district and three former administrators claiming they knew about the abuse committed by teachers at the mo raga intermediate school. one is in prison. on october 24th, they filed a legal response that leads plaintiff was careless and negligent and here's responsible for the acts. >> from a legal standpoint, we are not sure that the minor can consent or be careless and negligent because she lacks the ability to consent. she is underage. >> the school district released a statement in response to the questions and scrutiny. it reads we certainly empathize

with her and did not intend to cause her further distress. however this is a significant case that could have serious consequences for the school district. she is demanding several million in damages. >> part of the legal fight is say pr campaign and the school district lost the round. >> she told us she now wants the school district to take responsibility. >> the amount of pain i suffered, i don't think there is a dollar amount that can fix what i have been through, but for me it's about telling the truth and holding the people who let this happen accountable. >> today in the bay. >> mo raga schools are covered by liability insurance paying for their attorneys and would cover monetary awards. she said she is not looking for money, but someone to take responsibility. in south bay, former principal faces six months in

jail for failing to report sexual abuse of a student. she was principal at ob whaly elementary when an 8-year-old reported her teacher for unusual behavior in the classroom. the principal intrude the teacher craig chandler and did not take the matter to police. chandler was later arrested on lewd and lascivious acts on five children. a warning for stanford university where a female student was assaulted on campus tuesday night. the woman was running around 10:30 tuesday night when a man grabbed and assaulted her. the woman said the suspect was walking with a woman who had blond hair and was walking a bicycle. it is five days since super storm sandy hit the east coast and new york city is struggling with sandy, but this morning central park reopened. they posted these pictures to

welcome back. as we show you a live view of at&t park, the site of much celebration this week. today we are wrapping things up with a 10-day bay area science festival at at&t park. the mayor will be there for ribbon cutting ceremony. filling up with aspiring scientists specializing in the next generation. science, technology, engineering and math. fantastic event going on and you can see the clouds going on out there. not much fog and on the chilly side this morning. if you are heading out you will notice we have 40s to wake up to this morning. 48 in san jose and 47 in sunnyvale and back over to san francisco, we are at 53 and 52 in oakland. not much wind out there this morning as you saw.

the nice reflection across the water at at&t park. . the north wind is interesting as we get through the afternoon, you will see the north winds pick up as high pressure builds in and leads to a warm up through the weekend. we will see mostly 70s despite the chilly start to the morning, but sunny skies and warmer and maybe low 80s for the first half of the week which will be near records, but as quickly as things warm up, the end of the seven-day forecast we have changes with scattered showers and highs only in the 50s. in the meantime, storm tracker off to the north and it will stay there for a while. as high pressure builds in, the temperatures are coming up tomorrow. this morning partly cloudy skies. nothing really showing up in the futurecast in terms of rain. we will continue to see the clearing and perhaps a chilly night tonight and a warmer day for sunday as the valley temperatures try to make a run closer to 80.

around the south bay, low to mid 70s down to santa with highs in the mid 70s and a few upper 70s in the warmer places. danville about 76. 75 in fairfield. for the north bay, winds picking up at 10 to 20. mid-70s there and san francisco about 68 degrees. again the next three days, things will being up. record breaking warmth into the low 80s, but watch what happened when we pass monday and tuesday. temperatures cooling off and things will be dry through wednesday, but by thursday and friday, cold system out of the gulf of alaska and dropping the temperatures 20 to 30 degrees by the end of the week and maybe cold enough for mt. hamilton snow. early for that so stay tuned. a big drop in the temperatures. >> layers, layers, layers. >> winter is coming. >> thank you very much, rob. now to decision 2012. the trend has shifted in the

proposition 34 campaign to eliminate the death penalty. for the first time the latest field poll shows prop 34 is gaining support. the yes votes at 45% and the no votes at 38%. look at the undecided. 17%. quite a large number. whether it passes or fails, it is expected to be a slim margin and the swing vote will be critical. today in the bay's suzanne shaw has a closer look at both sides of the issue. >> can death row is in san quentin and during her five years as warden there, jeannie warden ordered four execution asks after each one -- >> they said is the world safer because of what we did? we knew the answer was no. >> sheer set out to replace it with live n prison, no parole. on the other side, child safety advocate marc klaas. >> let's be real.

christmas tree has been chosen. the tree was cut down in colorado yesterday. it is a 73 foot spruce harvested from white river national forest. crews will take two days to wrap up the tree before it makes the trip east. the tree will be the nation's capital in time for the annual lighting ceremony in december. here in the bay area, many people will celebrate dia delos muertos that honors the lives of loved ones and celebrates the belief a new life stage begins with that. the oak hill funeral home in san jose will hold its annual observance today from 9:00 this morning until 2:00 this afternoon. savies symphony hall will host their community concert with the san francisco symphony chorus. it starts at 2:00 this afternoon in davies symphony hall. giants fans get ready to hunt.

today is your chance to get your hans on a world series collectible for free. they will bring the pat hunt to the bay area. they will hide 30 limited elision bats from san francisco to san jose. louisville slugger will post clues every 15 minutes or so about where the bats will be hidden and put them on facebook and twitter. the first one is hidden somewhere in at&t park. the first clue will be posted at 9:00 this morning. today you can have a moment to meet a giants star, angel pagan. he will be at the macy's store in san francisco's union square signing dpeer for the first 250 people who buy $25 or more of officially licensed merchandise. again pagan will be at the store at 11:00 this morning. thanks for joining us and don't forget to fall back and get an extra hour of sleep. see you at the walk for
