>> we have been talking about this all week. this is a bizarre story. something ran in "the new york times" earlier this week about tesla motor cars being tested and running out of charge. it absolutely enraged elon musk. they looked at the data from the car and found that the driver had done all kinds of different things than what he claimed in the article itself. here's the block that elon musk posted. he doesn't post actual data but he makes a convincing argument that what you read in "the new york times" and what tesla's computer shows are not the same thing. that is a polite way of saying somebody is lying. of course we weren't there. we don't have access to the actual data so we can't say who is lying. this is going to be a disaster for somebody. one point aside from this huge fight that is interesting is
6:13 am
tesla said "the new york times" writer turned the car's heater on. the writer says he didn't. why does it matter? heat in electric cars is a huge problem. nissan recently had to rethink the heater in the leaf. electric car motors don't make excess heat to be sent to the cabin so they use coils and that uses a tremendous amount of electricity. you can significantly reduce your range just by trying to keep your toes warm. tesla shares were hit hard earlier this week after "the new york times" report and after the company changed the date on its financial reports. other news, warren buffett's company buying heinz as we watch leap frog close the markets on wednesday. official word on that american merger with us airways and what it means for you in just a few minutes. >> the biggest airline in the world. >> by just this much over united continental. >> all right. thanks so much.

hillside elementary to the right of your tv screens which means they are telling us it will be shut down for several more hours. that means there will be no school today at hillside elementary. the sheriff's office tells us this is so investigators can search for evidence on the campus in the daylight. that's something they have not been able to do yet since this did happen overnight. it was around 8:45 last night well after school was out when someone called 911 to report several gun shots. deputies arrived and they found a young man around 18 or 19 years old suffering from a gunshot wound. he died later. they are vinvestigating whether the shooting may have been a dispute over a card or dice game. they know who he is but not releasing his identity yet. you can see the man was found in a grassy area of the campus along a chain link fence. it's possible he was shot elsewhere on campus maybe near one of the classrooms.
