they don't often issue advisories, just say be careful of the fog. it must be thicker this morning. weather index not showing the orange in the area but we'll give you the note across the bridge and also the construction. the road crews southbound out of the tunnel and northbound up toward the novato, we have a deadly crash blocking the shoulder. one lane is blocked. counter commute there. back to you. >> thank you very much, mike. 4:32. new this morning, extra patrols to foothill high school after finding threatening graffiti on campus. in a note posted on the school's website, the principal says the graffiti included a threat toward the school and that it takes safety very seriously. the threat was apparently spray painted on the walls of one of the girl's bathrooms. so far, no word on who spray painted that message.

there is an anonymous tip line set up for anyone with information. santa clara county district attorney soon will be deciding on charges for a morgan hill preschool teacher accused of trying to drug the kids in her care. a co-worker spotted deborah gross dropping a sleep aid into sipy cups last week. fortunately, none of those kids drank that substance. the 59-year-old worked at kiddie academy in morgan hill. police trying to figure out if this is the first time graus has done this. she worked at that school five years. meantime, outraged parents have their say after news that pleasantton preschool teacher may have tied up a 2-year-old in her care. >> people are highly frustrated and there were raised voices, yes. >> center point christian preschool holding a closed door meetding with parents last night. former employee, 25-year-old

angela ca krchcogno was accused tying a child's hands and feet for not settling down to take a nap. she could face charges as soon as today. center point says it will close on friday for three days of intensive employee training and it plans to reopen next wednesday. a violent crime wave is hitting an upscale peninsula city more known for its neighborhood and acquaint downtown. stunned after five armed robberies in five weeks. the bank west was hit twice. two different masked gunmen were caught holding up the bank. police believe criminals are being attracted to los altos because of its ainfluence. the total number of armed r

robberies have been matched in 2012 and it's only march. >> all the more unbelievable in los altos. i'm really surprised hearing about armed robberies in los altos. >> the irony here is that last week los altos was ranked the safest city in the country. police are still looking for all the robbers in those cases. >> we'll be learning this morning whether four people, including the parents of a san francisco teenager will be going to trial for allegedly killing their daughter's pump. prosecutors say they killed s sneade while mercato tipped them off to his location. a preliminary hearing for the suspects is set to take place this morning.

a large reptile was used to guard his pot stash. arrested in january after al media county sheriff's deputies searched his home and found 3400 pounds of marijuana guarded by a reptile. the animal named mr. teeth was malnourished and seriously ill. he actually died the next day at oakland zoo's hospital. prosecutors have not filed any animal cruelty charges in this case. it's expected they'll extend a $60 annual fee to students, first implemented in 2007 to help the uc system pay tuition funds for students. saying they improperly raised fees in 2003 and 2004. governor jerry brown is expected to be at today's meeting. later on this morning, governor brown joining u.s. secretary of the interior, ken salazaar in san francisco, where they are

small gain, extending its win streak to eight days, closing out at another record high. if the dow closes higher today, it will be the first nine-day winning streak in 16 years. setting the tone today will be retail sales data. that could be impacted by a fact that a lot of people stp still haven't gotten their tax returns, not to mention the payroll increase. import prices and business inventory data will be out today. the nasdaq falling hard, 10 points to 4232. up to 600,000 tax returns filed by h & r block could be delayed for as much as six weeks. the irs has a problem that extends from the student tax credit form. in past years, tax preparers could leave a certain field blank. this year they had to enter an n or no. the forms are getting delayed because apparently they did not. h & r block says people who

filed between february 14th and 22nd are affected. you can check the status of your return if your impacted on the irs website under the where's my tax refund tab? tax refund is stuck because of a paperwork problem. unbelievable in this day and age, huh? >> what a drag. especially in this day and age. i don't mind the chicken ramen noodles, if you cook them just right. what a meal. >> i lived on those in college. >> threw in toast once in a while. >> fancy. >> just to spice it up. >> i made it healthy with some vegetables. >> i put a little cinnamon on my toast. >> i don't know if it's a soup day. maybe a salad day, nice outdoor patio. >> that's one of the best things i can make. you're making my hungry, making my mouth water. we have a good-looking day. i prefer the beef variety.

low cloud cover out there this morning. places like oakland. less than a quarter mile visibility there at this point. fog will drift around all morni morning. high pressure builds in. any moisture we have available forced right to the surface as that ridge builds in. that will be the case. but only until 8:30, 9:00. same deal as yesterday, we'll lose that cloud cover early. blazing sunshine by about 11:00 to noon and then temperatures will soar above seasonal averages by 10 to 15 degrees, even 20 degrees in some cases. that's your temperature right now in pleasantton. temperatures actually running three to five degrees warmer than this time yesterday. high pressure still in control. gaining some strength today. temperatures will be at their maximum. so we're talking about plenty of 80s. 83 degrees in fairfield. 80 in livermore. 83 in gilroy. we have changes just ahead. we are expecting the winds to really pick up on friday.

beware the ides of march. that's about it, though. we're looking pretty good otherwise. saturday and sunday, temperatures will stay in the 70s and then we're still forecasting that shower activity for tuesday into wednesday. we're just pushing it back a little bit. looks like tuesday night, wednesday morning, some light showers and wednesday, the first official day of spring. so back to you. >> thank you very much. new video out of south korea to show you this morning. despite threats from the north of an outright war, the u.s. and south korea continue the joint military drills. today, south korean soldiers fired self propelled rocket shells. the drills are expected to last for eight more days and include 10,000 south korean soldiers and 3,000 u.s. troops. the latest test flight for boeing's struggling 787 dreamliners could start as soon as today. the faa approving boeing's plan for a redesigned battery system on those jets.

right now, we go live to vatican city where we continue, and the whole world continues pope watch. a little over an hour ago, that famous smokestack out of the sistine chapel, black smoke came billowing out. another vote has gone down, another no vote. pope has not been elected just yet. we will keep our eye on that one. if the white smoke comes out any time soon, you will be the first to know mplth fir. >> first they lock up andrew bouldin. woodson will be in santa clara, talking to the team. he was recently released from the green bay packers. he is also a former raider. this would be a pretty solid get for the niners, expected to lose all pro safety. tuesday, delaney walker and defensive tackle isaac sopolaga signed with different teams.

remember the story of the british man who was called a hero after wrestling a shark from a beach in australia? now he has been fired from his job. caught on camera by a local tv crew in january as he ran into the water to wrestle a shark away from swimming children. but apparently his boss wasn't too impressed. it turns out marshall was suppose ed to be on sick leave r stress when that incident happened. he says he is now being fired from his job, along with his wife, who also worked at the same company, who was also on sick leave at the time. >> ouch! >> real stress. >> true case of going from hero to zero, just like that. >> just like that. >> unfortunately. >> mike inouye, our superhero on the highway. >> how stressful was his job if he could handle wrestling a shark away with no problem? >> a lawyer you could be. >> maybe just put a shirt on. >> a model now. looking over toward the bay bridge at the fog at the toll
