good morning. >> reporter: good morning to you. some people go to yosemite for the granite peaks, the highs. a lot go to ride bikes. they go to ride horses. all of those type of activities could soon be eliminated because of a lawsuit that was failed more than a decade ago a new proposal could end things like biking, rafting and horse rentals. remove swimming pools and the sugar pine bridge and the ice rink at curry pine village. all of this will be discussed. the merced river plan comes after lawsuits over what should really be inside of yosemite national park, more retail and activities or nature at its best? they haven't push ford an end to the recreational activities. proposed changes are more of an ongoing attempt to protect the merced river. they are more concerned with dams that were being erected

destroyed two homes and damaged another one on bethel island. firefighters say they had to wait an hour and a half for pg&e crews to get there to deal with downed fire lines before they could move in and put out the flame. in san francisco, prosecutors say they do not have enough evidence to charge a man arrested in the killing of a 77-year-old newspaper vendor. they believe he lifted dallas heirs and dropped him on the pavement without warning in january and he later died from his injuries. three weeks later, prosecutors say it is possible he could be charged later. both singer michelle stockton apologizing after using a gay slur during a performance in san francisco. she says her comments about gay people and gay marriage were misinterpreted. she says she does not judge gay people and was simply trying to point out how some people feel with the issue. venues all across the country have canceled most of the

prosecutors say chris bushare ran multiple red lights. a san francisco judge will decided to if the man accused of stealing a taxi last friday morning and ramming a police car should be released without bail and placed in a rehab facility. police say, peter russell was drunk when he ran the police car, forcing officers to shoot at him. russell was not hurt and remains in jail. a teenage robbery suspect on the run this morning after attacking two people near downtown san jose. police say last night, a teenage boy approached a man at 19th and san antonio streets, not too far from san jose high school and demanded money and then stabbed that man. a few minutes later, the suspect confronted another man three blocks away and demanded money. the suspect hit that man in the head with some sort of object. both victims were treated for my juror injuries. the suspect was able to escape with cash.

>> the oakland auditor has released a report showing some sit ty couns city council members inappropriately affecting operations. 14 different times they interfered in administrative affairs. one interfering with city recreation centers and another threatening a work assignment and a council aid improperly asking staff to reduce the parking fees. they will have to decide what punishment, if any, they will face the american indian charter school says it will appeal the school district's decision to shut down the schools at the end of the year. they made the decision to revoke the chort ter saying the schools are financially mismanaged and engaging in illegal acist it. parents with children at the school say they are upset because of the school's high performance track record. they have the highest academic performance in that district.

less than an hour ago, president obama and palestinian president just wrapping up a press conference. tracie potts is tracking the president's trip. good morning. this game amidst the president's five-hour trip into palestinian territory to meet with abbas and talk about some of these issues. they spoke to the media afterwards. a couple of takeaways. number one. president obama said the palestinians deserve a sovereign state. he also said that the israeli settlements within the west bank

are not conducive to peace. but, this is a big butt, that they can't wait to get conditions perfect before restarting direct talks. that, from the president's comments this morning. meantime, earlier, hours before the president arrived, a couple of rockets landed in southern israel. no one was hurt, police say. one landed in a courtyard and the other in an open field. president obama has visited as a candidate back in 2008. today, he was 50 miles away, safe, when those rockets landed. earlier, in jerusalem, the president got a chance to see israel's historic dead sea scrolls. he will be back in jerusalem later today for what is a hallmark for this visit. a keynote speech to israel's youth. san jose taking center stage today as march madness gets underway at hp pavilion.

nicholas petris has died. he represented oaklandant other cities for 37 years. during his political coor reaar was considered a major advocate for environmental protection and other things. he died early yesterday morning in an oakland nursing home. he was 90 years old. new this morning, the nation's leading pediatrician's group has come out in support of gay marriage. the american academy of pediatrics citing research showing a stable relationship between parents is the key contributing to a child's well-being, while parent's sexual orientation has no effect at all on a child's development. the group publishing the new research findings online just this morning. this report coming out as the u.s. supreme court prepares to hear two gay marriage cases next week.
