we'll give you more traffic news as the morning progresses. here is the lovely laura garcia cannon. >> certainly, foggy out there. it is 4:32. in a matter of hours, a judge will decide whether to allow a sexual lawsuit. she is suing for failing to protect her from sexually abusive teachers when she was a student. a former teacher is speaking out. she complained to administrators after students told her they had been sexually abused by a popular science teacher. the district was slow to respond. >> i do feel guilty in hindsight. if it had happened today, there would be no problem. i would immediately go to cps. >> buchanon was not fired for making the complaint but was told to take a leave of absence. after hearing about buchanon,

kristin kunan released a statement saying in part, i can't believe how many people at the school knew about the sexual abuse and how many warnings the district ignored to find out that there was someone at the school actually trying to help us and that she got punished for it is incredible. the school district is now trying to find documentation to corroborate her allegations a teen is behind bars for the death of a newark memorial high school football star. 19-year-old abraham hade faces 16 years to life in prison for second-degree murder. the jury determined hade told lies from the witness stand blaming the death of osana futi on a 14-year-old friend. the 14-year-old confessed to the murder to save him from a longer prison term but later admitted hade was the killer a 1-year-old boy recovering from the hospital after being shot in his own home.

someone opened fire outside st. john's apartment building on west macdonald avenue in richmond just after 1:00 yesterday afternoon. a fragment from a bullet hit a baby. a bullet hole in the window of the apartment. the boy was sitting on the floor after just being fed when he was hit. we are told he is in good condition. a $25,000 reward is being offered for the arrest and conviction of the gunman. >> it has been a week and still no arrest for san jose's latest homicide. the victim's family says the system that should have protected her failed. sandra cruz was stabbed to death last week allegedly by her ex-boyfriend. that's despite a restraining order against him. police say cruz dated 25-year-old juan ramirez for a few months before breaking it off. her family says he then stalked her for the last two years. >> she feared for her life so much that she went to kick

boxing. she was asking my brother and sister-in-law to help her buy a gun. they were just going to teach her gun safety. >> cruz had just returned from court last friday renewing her restraining order against ramirez when she was attacked and killed. 4:35. students in one bay area community will notice something different when they get to school this morning. drug-sniffing dogs, back on the job. dublin school officials are bringing in people-friendly dogs to find legal and prescription drugs as well as alcohol and weapons. previous drug sniffing dogs focused only on illegal drugs and they were caught in 2007 during budget cuts. they voted to bring back the dogs to discourage students from bringing contraband to campus. the dogs will visit dub lick high school, valley high and wells and fallon middle schools neighbors in san jose want to handle their fast food fight by themselves without city leaders. the community was not happy with how last night's meeting went. a city council member says he

not ready to return to the track. the blade runner is charged with murdering his girlfriend on valentine's day. yesterday, a judge modified his bail conditions giving the athlete permission to travel outside south africa. arnold pistorius stressed his nephew's innocence saying oscar is heartbroken. >> so we trust what he said to us as the facts and it was a terrible, terrible mistake. >> prosecutors say he committed premedicated murder when he allegedly shot and killed his girlfriend, reeva steenkamp at his home. he maintains he mistakened her for an intruder. the man accused of last year's movie theater massacre. he offered to plead guilty in exchange for avoiding the death penalty. he is accused of killing 12 and wounding 70 others in the july 20th shootings. prosecutors are also accusing the defense of violating a gag

order by talking about the plea offer. 4:44. president obama is preparing for a trip to colorado next week to continue his push for stricter gun laws. his efforts come as the nation digests chilling new details released about the new town shooting tragedy. a support for stricter gun laws dwindles as nbc's danielle leigh shows us, the president is facing an uphill battle with gun control. >> parents of the new town shooting victims struggled to digest new details released by voe investigators adam lanza. he fired under 150 bullets in under five minutes. his deadliest weapon, a bushmaster semiautomatic rifle and 10 thirty at the round magazines. nicole lost her son. >> every piece of new information is painful, because it brings us back to december 14th. >> he have.

lance corporal william wild, one of seven marines killed by a mortar shelter in a nevada training exercise. during his time in the marine corps, he served in afghanistan and kuwait. he will be buried at arlington national cemetery on tuesday oklahoma health officials are urnling thousands of people to undergo hepatitis and hiv testing because of their dentist. state health officials say one of dentist, scott harrington's patience came to them with both hiv and hepatitis c despite having no risk factors. they found unsanitary conditions in the oral surgery offices, rusty instruments, a cleaning device that had gone unchecked for six years. dental assistants sedating patients without a license to do so and an unlocked drug cabinet with expired medications. >> there are so many multifacets that i can't even tell you. >> dr. harrington has been a

dentist for 36 years. this is reportedly the first time he has been under investigation. let's switch gears. it is so foggy out there this morning. >> yeah, it is. it is foggy. what's also bizarre, we have showers in the forecast and we're going to hit the 80s. what? >> explain that. you know what. good friday morning to you. that's what you have to sift through for today. the good news is we are going to see pretty nice conditions. more sunshine in the forecast today once that fog burns off at about 9:00, 10:00 a.m. than any day this week. that means our mild start to the day with temps in the upper 40s and low 50s will lead us close to 80 degrees. we are going to be in 70 in san francisco with plenty of clouds overhead throughout the day. 54 in san jose to start. good morning to you in gilroy. you are in the upper 40s. visibility dropping off in santa rosa. i want to show you the wider view. at the immediate surface, the fog is not yet at its worse. it will get worse before it gets better. i am expecting the thickest between 7:00 and 8:00 this

morning. right in the heart of your rush-hour drive. we gave mike the day off. two areas of low pressure. the first takes a hike on the jetstream and rides it to the north. this one breaks off. we call ait a cut-off low for that very reason. it has nothing to steer it. jets are like a river of air that carry our storm systems from west to east. for us, this thing has nothing to push it. it will sit and spin out in the pacific as we head out late tonight all the way through monday morning. we have that chance for showers. expecting a little bit of isolated thunder as we head throughout, it looks like sunday morning, we have the best chance for that. you want to keep that in mind. you see that cut-off low starts to move inland. mostly dry at that point. then, those bans push onshore overnight saturday into early sunday. i believe that is a good idea to have the easter egg planned. we will see a pretty nice second half of your easter sunday. overall, count on showers and

famed bay area restaurant, chez panisse, is facing another delay in reopening bumping the target date to june. the fire earlier this month damaged more than they expected. they are working on a new steel frame to replace the damaged wood frame structure. they have managed to salvage every piece of wood. chef and owner, alice waters, who opened the restaurant in 1971, hopes to have it reopened the first week in june. investigators say an electrical failure most likely caused that fire it is 4:50. up next, baseball back in the bay. the giants and a's get back in the swing of things with the bay/bridge series. what fans are notices that's different this year. this morning, we are tracking a little bit of dense fog. we will let you know how your morning commute is going to

rhodes out there. we are dealing with a dense fog advisory across most of the bay bridges. here is a look at the bay bridge toll plaza. visibility is reduced quite a bit. make sure you have your head lights on. if you need it, keep the windshield wipers going as well. let's take another look at the golden gate. a very similar scene here. lots of dense fog. allow extra time for yourself here on this friday. we don't have any major accidents this morning. of course, it is still very early at 4:55. you can see from our traffic maps, things are slow-going on the bridges. once you get on the bridge, make sure you take a little extra time. things are good to go on all of your other area roads. 4:55. you may have spotted a few tv crews around san francisco shooting a new show for nbc. director, john favro tweeted this picture showing the cast of "about a boy." based on the book and the 1999 movie of the same name about a spoiled bachelor who becomes

what a former teacher is saying this morning. good morning. >> reporter: this is a complicated case that dates back to the 1990s. today, a judge here in martinez may decide whether or not this sexual abuse case against the moraga school district can go forward or not. a retired teacher is coming forward talking about what she did at the time to try and help. carol buchanon is now retired but may now be best known as a whistle blower in a sexual abuse case involving a current cal swim coach, kristen kunane. in the '90s, students told her that a popular science teacher was abusing them. he later committed suicide. she came forward publicly last year about what was going on. buchanon says she tried to respond and alert the district but they didn't respond to her complaints. >> i do feel guilty in
