when you get toast and you are toast, you get hit with a toaster. it's not like i drove a golf cart through practice. >> but she had. >> dribble, dribble, quick feet, quick feet. if you don't move i'm going to barrel you again. move! >> she is crazy. >> having a little fun with it. okay. >> and there's a serious side to that. a lot of people are watching the coach like mike rice and they're wondering if that's how professional or college or whatever coaches teach. like when you watch football, sometimes you watch football games from the sidelines and you see the coaches get riled up and -- >> very emotional. yeah. but you know, i was asking frank about it, of course. he played during i different time. he had some of the greatest coaches in the history of any sport. people like tom landry and vince. and he -- lombardi. and he said -- never. not once in all of his years did one coach ever put a hand on him. he says they get up in your face and they yell. but he said, they didn't have to, we knew what they expected of us, we knew. he's appalled by it.

reality series "ready for love." >> here's the deal. the show's about three guys in search of the one with three matchmakers determined to find her and lots of beautiful and available women. eva longoria's here with her three handsome men. bill patton, tim lopez, and ernesto -- >> ernesto. agero. >> nice to see you all again. you were visiting with us when you were about -- >> a year ago. >> why did it take a year to bring the show to fruition? >> we wanted to contemporize and modernize the dating show and make it more authentic. first things first, women have to know who the guys are. that's why we wanted to introduce them on the "today" show and say these are our guys, these guys are ready for love. then we started the process of finding the women -- the matchmakers and the women. >> sometimes love takes time. >> sometimes love takes time. >> it probably doesn't happen during an episode. >> or many episodes. >> i do think what's interesting about the show is these guys all want to get married, is that

right? >> well, no, happily ever after. which is -- it could mean a lot of things. it could mean engagement, marriage. >> one of you does. which is the one that wants to be married? >> i would love to be married. >> a happy marriage, not actually just married. >> yeah. >> so there's a lot of fun parts about the show that make it different from all the other dating shows that are out there. >> tell us. >> the biggest difference is the matchmakers. three different matchmakers with three different philosophies on love and approaching dating and so we have matt husse, who's like the guy's point of view and how to get the guy. we have tracy, who's this really great author about love and what women do wrong. and then amber kelleher, who also is this world-renowned matchmaker. >> we have a little history with her. >> you do? >> we do. >> we'll go into that later. >> we'll tell you about that at the commercial break. let's just say it gets interesting with the kelleher -- >> so tell us about the girls. you started off with five -- >> the women.

>> and it's whittled down to four very quickly. one gets bounced before you even lay eyes on her. >> it starts actually with 12. amazing experience, but the first night you hear 12 girls and some unexpected things happen. like one of my exes actually was there. >> was she one of the 12? >> yeah. and she said you're the one that got away. and that's a big surprise. you don't hear that kind of thing. >> the hard part would be trusting whether she's just saying that because the cameras are going. how can you guys trust that what these women are saying is real? >> yeah. >> well, i think that -- that comes in with the matchmakers. i mean, we sign on the show counting on the matchmakers, and with high expectations of them going to find the girls that are a right fit and compatible to each one of us. >> okay. >> so they've already been vetted. >> so you filled out a big survey, said everything you want and like in a woman -- >> that was an awkward process. >> tell us why. why was that weird? >> everything from skin color to

like bust size -- >> we're going to get to that in just a moment. you were married before. >> i was married before. >> why do you think this go-round will be different with these girls? >> you know what? again, like these guys said, i have to trust the matchmakers, that they brought the right girls for us to date. because i was happily married for a long time. and when that failed, that really like turned me upside down. so this was a unique process for me. >> you're on the road a lot as a musician with the plain white tees. are you continuing that too? >> yes. >> so this person's going to have to be able to go along for the ride. >> that's going to be a complicated -- >> we can all tell you it works. the matchmakers, it makes a big difference. >> they not only selected the girls like i said but they help us out. during the process, we're constantly getting feedback from them as well. >> we should point out, we keep seeing giuliana and bill rancic. they're actually the hosts of your show. >> yeah. >> they know a little bit of something about true love. >> yes, they do. they had so much fun with the guys because they could call the guys on their b.s. if they needed to.

nice rapid boil on it. then i've cooked some whole wheat angel hair pasta. >> why whole wheat? >> it's healthier. >> it's fulfill antioxidants, full of minerals. there's a lot of health benefits. and we're keeping the portion reasonable. >> that's the problem, isn't it? >> well, there's eight ounces, for a portion of four. and then we're going to fill it up veggies. we've got lots of baby spinach. lots of baby spinach. we've got some radishes. and like i said you crank that heat right up. >> this is really good. >> once you sort of pick up the pasta over the spinach it will start to wilt down. >> it wouldn't take too much. >> and you get the clams back in. >> and then in literally a minute that pasta, which is warm or hot when you put it in, is heated right through and it's all come together. >> you never eat a clam or any shellfish that's not opened all the way, right? >> well, actually, that's not true, believe it or not. >> good. tell us why not. >> because -- >> because i hate wasting them.
