since 2009 when a student at antioch high school had tuberculosis. reporting live, christie smith, "today in the bay." today, a judge deciding if there is enough evidence to bring a teenager to trial in the shooting death of a toddler in november of 2011. 23-month-old hiram lawrence was with his father outside of a liquor store when he was tragically caught in the cross fire of a shooting. he sadly died in the hospital days later. prosecutors say the person who killed the toddler is a 17-year-old gang member who was targeting a group of people videotaping a music video outside near that store. the two other men accused in the shooting have already been indicted by a federal grand jury. 6:03. san francisco's police chief will talk to neighbor notice miss district about a recent officer-involved shooting outside a bar near valencia and 17th street. police opened fire when they saw

th developer. it is a chance to bring more jobs at no cost to the city. >> imagine a mix of uses, retail, jazz, hotels, everything you would want to have in a stadium site near a convention center. it is such a large piece with the cost of development and the cost of land here in the south bay being so high. let's face it. it has been prime real estate. >> for some perspective if you are familiar with santana row in san jose, that shopping district is ruffoughly 42 acres. this property would take up 230 acres. more than five times the size of santana row. the santa clara city council will consider this project at their meeting at 7:00. here is the thing. you heard from the mayor. he is happy about this idea. not everyone is. some people have said about the idea of wiping out the city golf course. we are going to hear from them. what mayor matthews has to say about the future of golf at this

let's talk about the shakeup at jc penney this morning. there is huge anger at the boar. they hires and fire ceos. shareholders are furious at the big switch. out is this guy, ron johnson, the fellow that came over from apple who helped invent apple stores in fact. his reign at jc penney's has been a disaster. what's startling is who the board picked to replace johnson, mike ullman. this is the guy they fired to make room of johnson. he is the former ceo of penney's. he is the guy they department like before they didn't like the new guy. they said he chronically mismanaged the stores. the rest of the storey is when johnson left apple, they replaced him with someone they don't like. maybe the solution here is for johnson to go back to apple. he did a good job with their

is live with the changes expected to happen sooner rather than later. over the next 40 years, wine-growing regions like here in livermore and napa/sonoma, could see a dramatic dree kres in their number of vineyards so say climate researchers in a new study but out by the national academy of sciences. the cause would be global warming. as the temperatures rise, they believe there will be less rain and water to irrigate and cool these grapes. grapes like the hot days. the sugar levels are off and they are able to cool off during the night. too much heat and they fail to produce the quality of flavor that makes good wine. they predict they would move north to higher elevations. namely states that are close,

i hope that stays off. we have that cherry blossom festival parade up in san francisco as well. we're looking over here toward the south bay where we have a gentle build for north 101. from 680 up to 880. it's 620, mild flowing. a lighter flow over the last few weeks. it will probably continue over the next couple because of scattered spring breaks. 84 shows compression through livermore. 84 through the niles area showing a slowing. meanwhile, 580, a predictable pattern out toward the dublin interchange. we will focus here, brentwood, reports of a crash. originally reported on the california bypass. it might be affecting brentwood boulevard. through the area, traffic control for the northbound side. highway 4 or the bypass.

former head of san mateo's probation department, stuart forrest, will be in court for a preliminary hearing accused of possessing child pornography. he faces up to six years in jail if convicted a man accused of driving his car through the front of a walmart store and attacking customers is expected to be back in court for a similar incident at the capital premier car wash. prosecutors say this is video showing him crashing his silver lexus through the front door of the convenience store. attached to the car wash back in december. he will be back in court today in this case as well as for sentencing on marijuana charge stemming from 2011. well, students at st. mary's right now on alert after a college student told police she was sexually assaulted in her

dorm room early saturday morning. she apparently met her attacker off campus on friday night. a local hospital reported that crime to the police department. 6:45. hundreds of students at a bay area high school will take a different type of test for tu btube tuberculosis good morning, kristi. this is all over the deer valley high school website. they will be testing about 200 students here who either shared a class or were in a club with the student who was diagnosed with tuberculosis. the principal at deer valley high school sent a letter home to those families last week. the student who contracted the disease is no longer infectious

"today in the bay's" bob redell is live in livermore with what this could mean for the bay area. good morning. >> good morning. not exactly the kind of i'll drink to that kind of news. we are talking about seeing disappearance of these type of vineyards like here in livermore, napa or sonoma. we are talking about a tremendous impact in wine-growing regions throughout the state. researchers and a new study are predicting a drop of 50% to 70% statewide. the number of acres suitable for growing grapes over the next 40 years. this is assuming nothing is done to avert global warming. there will be less rain and

water to irrigate and cool these grapes in these already hot wine-growing regions. you have to remember, grapes like the hot day. that helps with the sugar levels and it are able to cool off with the cool temps. if you have too much heat, they fail to produce the quality and flavor that makes a good wine. scientists predict wine growing would move closer to states close to the canadian border, montana, washington state, idaho. they could see their potential for grape-growing double. the destruction of the grizzlies and gray wolf would be the down side. now, this report is considered ground-breaking, significant, because it is reportedly the first time scientists have looked at how global warming could affect wine-growing regions throughout the world. reporting live here in livermore
