15-year-old audrey pott to commit suicide eight days later. >> she was a vibrant and beauty fum girl. that's how family and friends remember 15-year-old audrey potts. we are using her name and picture with the blessing of her parents. the family attorney explains audrey's parents want to make sure this never happens again. >> the message is, through her story, we want to make the society safer and better so these things don't happen. >> reporter: robert allard says she was at an unsupervised house party and was enebriated and a group of boys sexually assaulted her. >> based on what we know, audrey was unconscious, there were multiple boys in the room. they did unimaginable things to her while she was unconscious, making it much worse is the fact that afterwards, apparently, a photo or multiple photographs were taken of the assault as it

was taking place. >> allard says those photos were posted online and seen by several students at saratoga high school. days later, audrey wrote on her facebook page, quote, the whole school knows. my life is ruined now. eight days after the assault, audrey pott took her own life. >> she was just absolutely humiliated. she must have felt tortured and she decided to end her life as a result of all these things coming together. >> teen counselor, connie mayor, and her palo alto-based counseling service, helps more than 6,000 teens with their struggles. she says the use of social media to embarrass or har ras a peer can be damaging. >> teens can say whatever they want on a typed screen and push send without thinking or feeling about the ramifications and see the feelings, the results of what that can do to a peer.

santa clara county sheriff's investigators have arrested three teenage boys on suspicious of sexual battery. they attend saratoga high school. the third goes to christopher high in gilroy. all three are being held in juvenile hall. her parents did not find out about the attack until after her daughter's death. they want the trio prosecuted as adults. >> what these boys did is beyond unconscionable. they should be held to the highest standard of the law making sure that this never, ever happens again. >> george kitiyama, "today in the bay." >> audrey's family started a foundation in her honor to help other kids in trouble. it offers counseling and support to those that reach out. the audrie pott foundation provides music and art fellowships. those were two of her passions. we will continue to stay on top of developments in the story. we will bring you new information. we have posted the story on nbc

bay area.com where you you can post a comment. a game of chicken turns deadly for a bay area teenager hit by a train. three boys were running alongside the tracks near san lorenzo high school last night. it is unclear how long they were messing around there before one of them was struck and killed. >> reporter: their children should not be on the train tracks, not be a shortcut home, not walk along the train tracks going home or coming to and from practices or any other community events. it is very important that people recognize that. people don't play chicken normally. >> the accident remains under investigation. >> a group of south bay teachers fighting for their salaries and benefits. teachers from the evergreen school district showed up at a board meeting to present their demands in ongoing contract negotiations. they say teachers have sacrificed to help the

district's finances and have not had a salary increase in six years. they oppose the district's attempt to reduce their health benefits which they believe are key to retaining and recruiting educators. >> we are all out here, because we are concerned that negotiations are going nowhere. we have asked a state mediator to come in, because the district doesn't seem to understand that negotiation means compromise. the idea is to reach a settlement. they are going backwards. >> we have reached out to the school district but have not been able to get a comment. >> san francisco's police chief has shut down a plan to arm his officer with stun guns. they would have given stun guns to 5% of the city's police force. limitations set orn tn the use the stun guns would cause more harm than good. they have argued on the use of stun-gunlike weapons because of their strong charge.

activists cham they are often used unnecessarily. a stanford university professor diagnosed with leukemia is turning to social media to help save her life. she has only eight weeks to live unless she receives a bone marrow transplant. she is of south asian dissent. they say the chances of finding a match are 1 in 20,000. they are asking to tweet her story to find a do i nor. all it takes to determine if you are a match is a swab of the inside of your cheek. san francisco leading that charge on its first ever walk to work day. mayor ed lee and other city leaders will march from the powell street b.a.r.t. station all the way to city hall. organizers say san francisco is the very first city in the entire country to celebrate walk to work. the event is being held to promote ped safety following

lanes sound like they are open. san mateo bridge, a smooth drive westbound for your commute direction with the tail lights. it looks like the lens is dirty but the skies are clear. laura, you are going to talk about something that might affect evening commuters. commuters can expect some delays mike, at the san mateo bridge toll plaza. starting tonight at 7:00, the far left lane of the westbound approach will be closed so crews can install an automated toll collection system. work should be done just in time for monday morning's commute. during the next couple of weeks, caltrans will complete upgrades for the rest of the lane. one toll lane will be closed during each weekday and fast track will be shut down on the weekend. brace yourself for life in the slow lane. 4:41 right now. an argument over aids. we'll tell you why a movie actress claimed indb ruined her film career.

welcome back. san francisco. beautiful way to start the friday morning. the all-important weekend just around the corner. 4:44. still no word of a third missile test from north korea. the u.s. says that could happen at any moment. secretary of state, john kerry, arrived in south korea this morning to help the country deal with the threat. it comes as president obama issued a warning that now is the time to bring this to an end. >> to try to lower temperatures, nobody wants to see a conflict on the korean peninsula. >> on capitol hill, a lawmaker revealed the defense intelligence agency thinks north korea knows how to put a nuclear warhead on its missiles, though, not reliably. how do you like these apples? hundreds of thousands of people that own certain iphones and ipads could get part of a $53 million class action settlement.

in the meantime, in mississippi, a state of emergency was declared in two counties after a strong storm and reports of a tornado. more than two dozen homes were damaged or destroyed. the mississippi emergency management agency says it has received a report of at least one death and five injuries. >> federal investigators still trying to figure out the exact cause of a deadly bus crash down in texas. two people ended up dying. dozens were hurt yesterday morning after a charter bus rolled over on a highway near dallas. most of those passengers were elderly and they were heading to a casino for a fun day of gambling. early report suggests the bus may have collided with a safety barrier on the side of the highway and rebounded back across the lanes launching off a concrete medien divide an actress that sued the movie data base for revealing her age has lost her case. 41-year-old quanjunie hoang has
