the folks that are mostly up and about are those that have been working all night. that's our overnight road crews. the a's getting to work later on past the coliseum and the warriors tomorrow. we have work in the median where they are improving the lanes. one of the cash lanes off to the right next to the hov lanes looks like it is closed. that should change in the next half hour. right now, stay to the right of the fast-track lanes and you will be okay. no problems on the span. four people in the hospital including a 40-year-old mother after an out of control car crashes right through a san jose home and goes into the living room. this happened yesterday afternoon near leigh high school. a silver car spun out of control, a red bmw spun around and crashed into a nearby street

sign. a nurse and a former police officer saw this all happen and rushed into the home to help. >> we saw the mom laying face down and her legs were twisted behind her back. >> the mother's 9-year-old daughter was found in the rubble. she only suffered minor injuries. her 4-year-old son was not hurt. coming up at 5:00, bob redell will have a live update including whether either driver will be facing charges. a pair of day area daycare owners getting ready to make their first court appearance after they were charged with multiple state licensing violences. police arrested nazila and lida sharif and charged them with neglect, abuse and swaddling which is not allowed at daycare.

they bound the children so tightly they were restricted. all of the babies were between 7 and 11 months old. three of them have upper respiratory problems. coming up at 5:00, christie smith will have more details including how one woman has had a run-in with state regulators the woman accused of trying to drug children with sleeping pills at a daycare center in the south bay is expected to be bat in court. 59-year-old debra grotts stands accused of putting the sleep medication, sominex, into the sippy cups of children in her care at the kiddie academy. the cups were taken away before any of the children could drink them and she was fired. now, to a developing story out of bangladesh where rescuers continue their search for survivors after an 8-story factory building collapsed

yesterday. at least 199 people are confirmed dead. that number is expected to go up. more than 2,000 people inside the building that houses a number of garment factories when it fell to the ground. a crack was discovered in a wall on tuesday. they were told the building was reportedly inspected and declared safe. we have new details into the investigation into the alleged patient dumping by a nevada psychiatric hospital expands. they now say effective immediately, a chaperone will accompany all mentally ill patients to their final destination after their discharge from state facilities. a nevada state hospital recently coming up fire when a sacramento is investigation said they were discharging patients and placing them unaccompanied on to greyhound buses. more than 1500 patients were sent all over the country. many to cities in california

like san francisco and san jose. >> b.a.r.t. is looking for ways to beef up safety for passengers and employees. it comes in response to last week's deadly bombings. they will review the agency's safety proto tols and discuss ways to improve relationships and communications at a board of director's meeting today and announcing new initiatives to protect riders and workers and upcoming training programs for b.a.r.t. employees. a major roadway back open in north san jose. this comes after a large tree fell last night. nobody was hurt. the crews were able to cut it down and move out the debris. so far, no word from the city on why that tree suddenly fell. >> it is green week here at nbc bay area. christina loren is going to show us how to get it done.

bridge, smooth drive. yesterday, riddled with crashes after our first sig alert in the morning commute. this morning, no problems overnight. i will track this very carefully. folks are a little shell-shocked from yesterday. something bay area drivers don't want to hear. your morning commute might be getting a little worse but there is an up side. an annual traffic report shows traffic congestion for the first three months of the year, up about 4% compared to 2012. there is good news here as well. experts say the trend suggests the economy is back on track, bringing more jobs, which, in turn, brings more cars on the road. it also showed drivers wasted an average of 62 hours last year, just stuck in traffic in the u.s. as for cities where the worst traffic is, no surprise here. los angeles comes in at the number one spot. honolulu comes in at number two. two bay area cities crack the top ten. san francisco, san jose, ranks 7th.

comfortable. it is rather brisk out here. temperatures in the low to mid-50s. as we head throughout this afternoon, we're going to lose that fog by about noon. it is going to be pretty thick at the coast for the first part of the day. we'll see that fog clear out by noon and highs today will be comfortable. look at these numbers. it does not get much better than the low to mid-70s. 73 for fremont. 74, san jose. in the city, it will be a little bit cool. 62 degrees. look at your seven-day outlook. warmer days in the city. just around the corner. friday, into saturday, temperatures jump from the upper 70s to the mid-80s. we'll be in the upper 80s sunday and then the 90s return by the middle of next week. it is going to feel like summer very quickly. once more, back out here live in san jose at the heritage rose garden. we are going to do a little gardening coming up and talk to some of the people that maintain this beautiful rose garden. this saturday, i'll be out here.

i am going to send it back to you, jon and laura. this morning, new details following an amber alert out of washington. it has possible ties to the bay area. police lifted the alert saying the missing 6-year-old boy was found in good condition. the boy was found with his mother and her boyfriend, who were taken into custody for questioning. it was initially believed the mother would trooy to take the y to los angeles via the bay area. the mother took off after refusing to allow child protective services to do a welfare check now, to the latest on the boston bombings. the parents of tsarnaev brothers are expected to claim their son's body. the 31-year-old that was killed was added to a u.s. government terrorism database about 18 months before the resaent tcent attacks. in 2011, russia asked the us,

the cia and fbi to check up on him. they investigated but they say at the time, they found nothing. >> we need to ask, why is the obama administration failing to stop terrorism before it reaches its target in the united states. >> our agencies get thousands and thousands of leads like we got from the russians. there are real limits to what we can do in response to them. on capitol hill, the fbi, homeland security and intelligence officials will answer questions about what they knew about tsarnaev. in the meantime, his 19-year-old brother, has stopped answering questions and has retained a lawyer. in texas, there will be a memorial service for the men and women killed at a fertilizer plant. thousands expected to attend the service at baylor university. among the speakers, president obama and texas governor, rick perry. flags all over the state will be

flown at half-staff in memory of the victims. 14 people died last week when a fire at the west texas fertilizer plant suddenly erupted in an explosion. hundreds of others were injured. president obama will be heading down to that memorial. before he does that, he is stopping in dallas for the opening of the george w. bush presidential museum. he is joining the four other living presidents. jimmy carter, george h.w. bush, bill clinton and, of course, george w. bush on the campus of southern methodist university. a library and museum will feature major turning points during the second president bush's term in office. exhibits featuring the 9/11 attack, iraq and afghanistan wars. a french magazine has published topless photos of the dutchess of cambridge. they announced the photographer

welcome back, everybody. we have a live look from the south bay. that is the hp pavilion, the home of the san jose sharks who were on the road last night. not a good one. they qualified for the playoffs. they lost down in phoenix, 2-1. they are getting ready for the postseason. it is 4:53. shocking news right now for 49ers fans, a new documentary revealing the team almost traded hall of fame quarterback, joe montana, before he won the 1984 super bowl. an espn, 30 for 30, chronicling the 1983 draft which that man was in, the documentary talks to elway's agent who says he had a

discussion with the niners then coach bill walsh. walsh apparently said he would be interested for trading for elway and a possible trade for that man, joe cool, joe montana. elway and walsh have a history. walsh recruited elway to play at stanford and number 16 went on to win three more super bowls for the 49ers. upon hearing that news, montana tweeting out, hey, can't wait to watch 30 for 30 when i get home, heard i was almost traded for elway. speaking of the craft, the 49ers hosting their own draft bash in downtown san jose. the first round starts at 5:00, to celebrate the, bud lite will host an outdoor party. it will feature food, drink, entertainment as well as special appearances by 49ers and alumni. fans will be there and just in case you are wondering, gold rush cheerleaders.
