laura today. here is a look at the forecast with christina loren. good morning to you. want to start off the bat with the most recent weather news. that is a red flag warning in place for the bay area. we have high fire danger on tap. temperatures this morning are mild out there. what i can tell you, yesterday, we hit 96 degrees in gilroy. not going to be quite as hot today. yesterday and today, the coolest in the extended period. we have the triple digits in the forecast. we'll take you through the numbers coming up first. 4:31. want to talk about your drive with our own mike inno houye. look at the map southbound 880 heading through the south bay. a smooth flow overall. coming south of 237 on 880, down to one lane just south of the great mall parkway exit.

some die tsh hard fa-hard fans around until the bitter end, six hours and 32 minutes. good to the last drop. new this morning, no injuries or damage. a jolt in the south bay caused by an overnight quake. the magnitude 3.0 earthquake struck about 10:14 six miles southeast of gilroy. it appears to fall on the calaveras fault line. a south bay woman is under arrest accused of poisoning the orange juice at a starbucks on snell avenue in south san jose. she replaced two bottles of orange juice with bottles from her bag. the bottles allegedly had a mixture of juice and rubbing alcohol inside. alert customers noticed the woman's suspicious behavior. a starbucks employee was able to get the woman's license plate

number as she drove off in her car. police arrested her at her home last night. a follow up to a story we first brought you sunday night hours before a fire ripped through a vacant motel in mountainview. police arrested someone on suspicion of trespassing at that property. only nbc bay area was there to get video of that fire. firefighters say the flames spread quickly, because the building did not have any sprinklers. a dozen units were damaged. we are happy to report, nobody was injured. the cause of this fire is still under investigation. police, well, they arrested that suspect and the trespasser sunday afternoon about five hours before the flames broke out. at this hour, it is unclear if the arrest is linked to the fire. no signs of foul play in the death of a san francisco sheriff's deputy whose body was found in the bay. search teams found his body floating in the vallejo marina yesterday afternoon.

hours earlier, his boat had been found adrift. it is not clear how he ended up in the water. a pilot is dead. firefighters are searching for more victims after two small planes collided in mid-air over ventura counsel tich. a radar showed the two collided eight miles northeast of ventura. one plane landed on a golf course in west lake vil alake v. the saekd plaecond plane starte one-acre fire after slamming into the santa monica mountains. they are investigating the san jose police department under scrutiny for stopping a policy aimed at cutting down on racial profiling. it required officers to document all stops even if there were no arrests, including the person's race and whether they are told to sit on a curb.

the new acting chief suspended that policy before it was put into practice. just last week, an independent auditor releasing reports criticizing that decision. this afternoon, the san jose city council will review this policy and other findings in the auditor's reports a special job fair today for veterans looking for work. the u.s. chamber of commerce will host its hiring our heroes program in walnut creek. they want to help veteran that is may be struggling as they work to adjust to civilian life. more than 18,000 have landed jobs through hiring our heroes since 2011. if you are interested, stop by the walnut creek marriott hotel starting at 9:00. a similar job fair was held a few weeks ago in san jose, which was co-sponsored by nbc bay area. dozens of men are sleeping in chairs at a homeless drop-in in san francisco. an effort to replace those chairs with beds is sparking a heated debate. the center's director wants to

add beds to a vacant building next door, a move clients say will deliver some much-needed relief. >> you can't sleep in a chair. by the time you get comfortable, you are falling over. you've got other people leaning on you. >> concerned neighbors are raising questions about zoning and permits and safety and security. a lengthy community process lies ahead before any kind of decision will be made. in the meantime, the homeless at mother browns will have to sit and wait good morning. with the warmth, now comes the winds. let's get a look at the forecast with meteorologist, christina loren you couple the two together. that equals high fire danger. good morning to you. the winds aren't that strong right now. bet your bottom dollar, they will be later on today. picking up in thevy sinity of 15-20 miles an hour sustained. we could see gusts to 50 plus at the coast. in addition to the hot weather and the wind today, it is going to be one of those days where you just want to be on the best of fire safety.

looking all right as far as the volume across the bay. heavier. folks still at oakland coliseum, the a's game. we are looking at a smooth drive for the north bay as well. we are facing south. the tail lights southbound. your commute direction just past north san pedro road. some flashing lights at the top of your screen. blocking one lane. you see no slowing coming off of the link. smooth drive there. the map will check out antioch when it does show some slowing. westbound through pittsburg and bay pount. still, very smooth. a little slowing. a blip there, not a big deal. the entire tri-valley moving pretty smoothly. no problems out of the altamont. 4:39. the golden state warriors will try to shut the door on the denver nuggets tonight. game five in the playoff series tips off at 5:00 tonight in denver. the warriors lead the series, 3-1.

expected. inflation remains low. it is 4:45 right now. let's check back in and get a little weather forecast. our christina loren here to tell us she is going to keep you nicer, warmer and sunnier. >> it is going to be a really warm day. temperatures are going to be just about as warm as we ended up yesterday. what i can tell you, not quite as hot. look at those numbers. they are kind of staring you back in the face, snake eyes. 96 degrees in gilroy yesterday. we had a beautiful day at the beach. we are going to get spoiled with more beautiful days right at the coast. however, it is going to be hot inland. you can see winds are picking up. we have more changes to take you through as we head throughout your tuesday. winds aren't that strong. they will be at their strongest between 2:00 and 7:00. you want to keep that in mind. highest elevations and immediate coast, we are expecting the strongest wind gusts. go ahead and tie down objects. if you had a barbecue over the weekend, cover it up or put it

while you were probably sound asleep still hugging that pillow, the oakland a's were still hard at work playing in the longest game in team history. the 19-inning game takes more than 6 1/2 hours to finally finish up. "today in the bay's" kristy snit is live by oakland's o.co's coliseum to show us that finish where the good guys finish on top. >> reporter: good morning, jon and marla. fans were leaving the ballpark a couple of hours ago. 19 innings until almost 2:00 in the morning. the last b.a.r.t. train had rolled by until finally brandon moss ended the marathon. >> deep to right. this may do it. it is gone! >> reporter: finally, lights out with a two-run homer in the bottom of 19th. that's right, 19th inning to end it with a 10-8 victory over the angels. this game went on for 6 1/2
