asleep still hugging that pillow, the oakland a's were still hard at work playing in the longest game in team history. the 19-inning game takes more than 6 1/2 hours to finally finish up. "today in the bay's" kristy snit is live by oakland's o.co's coliseum to show us that finish where the good guys finish on top. >> reporter: good morning, jon and marla. fans were leaving the ballpark a couple of hours ago. 19 innings until almost 2:00 in the morning. the last b.a.r.t. train had rolled by until finally brandon moss ended the marathon. >> deep to right. this may do it. it is gone! >> reporter: finally, lights out with a two-run homer in the bottom of 19th. that's right, 19th inning to end it with a 10-8 victory over the angels. this game went on for 6 1/2 hours. the longest for the a's.

the longest at the coliseum. so long that three different center fielders left the game with leg injuries. the usual seventh inning stretch at a ball game got a double play with a 14-inning stretch. a game so long it started on monday and ended on tuesday. >> hang on a second. >> he gave himself the pie. how about that? >> moss said, we've got to have a pie in the face after a game like that. josh reddick, too tired, he pied himself. a second pie and a sports stream bath to end as the a's extended their streak against the a.l. west to 12 games. reporting live, christie smith, "today in the bay." great stuff.

let them eat cake and pie. one more look at the numbers. the teams pushing this into 19 innings, the longest game in major league baseball so far this season. the enteire game lasting six hours, 32 minutes, ending at 1:41 a.m. this morning. it makes it is longest game ever played in oakland. we have a follow-up to a story we recently told you about on the so-called patient dumping. two workers have just been fired and another three disciplined from the psychiatric hospital in las vegas. others involved in the scandal no longer work there. this coming after investigators found patients were routinely bussed to different cities in several states, including san francisco and san jose and simply left for good. reporting since 2008, more than 15 people have been transported out of nevada.

neighbors in theton of valley spring will hold a vigil for an eight-year-old girl found stabbed to death over the weekend. they are questioning sex offenders and parolelies anywhere near the area where leila fowler was killed. her 12-year-old brother told police he saw a stranger leaving their home and found his body inside. they have collected fingerprints and dna evidence. until this killer is caught, the entire community is on edge. >> we have all of our windows, doors locked. we have bars in our double pane sliding windows. we don't go outside. we don't walk our dogs at night. a vigil will be held at leila's elementary school in valley spring tonight at 7:00. the fallout from last summer's virus resurfacing with a multimillion-dollar lawsuit. a woman who contracted the virus while staying incur curry villa.

she claims $1 million worth of medical bls and diminished lung capacity. three ended up dying and several others were sickened during this outbreak a kamp ranger whose car was taken by a vigilante ex-l.a. cop is suing for the $1 million reward offered to the public. on february 12th, christopher dorner took rick's car at gunpoint. he has filed a breach of contract against the city of los angeles. he says he deserves the reward, because he gave authorities dorner's exact location and a description of the vehicle he took. construction on the state's new bullet train line could be delayed. the california high-speed rail authority still in negotiations

to try and buy land around fresno. it is still chasing a challenge from a private rail company that controls key right-of-way near a stretch of planned track. company executives say no deal has been reached to build near its tracks. it may not be willing to accept the high-speed rail project because the exact route remains unclear. the first phase of construction is scheduled to start in july. the san jose police department is under scrutiny for stopping a policy aimed at cutting down on racial profiling. it requires officers to document all the stops they make even if there is no arrest, including the person's race and whether they are told to sit on a curb. the new acting chief suspended that policy before it was ever put into practice. just last week, an independent auditor releasing reports criticizing that decision. the san jose city council will review that policy and other

now, mike knows what could slow you down. we are watching the bay bridge toll plaza. we are looking at the approach. you see the bottom. the hov lanes, an issue reported there, west 80 at hov lanes, just around the toll plaza. i'm told there was a little bit of some sort of a duffle bag or debris. let's check past the toll plaza. if we look at the other camera, we have the camera turned past the bay bridge toll plaza. just past those lights, we didn't see anything slowing and i did scan over to the metering lights with no issues. we will continue to track that. we don't see any problems either. a smooth drive right now. a new incident may be showing up around patrero and richmond. there is a crash over here just clearing green hills at taylor. contra costa sheriffs as handling that surface issue.

banning drivers from using voice-controlled devices like seri on the iphone. texting is already banned for california drivers. no studies supports voice-activated texting as a safer option. a study found that texting by voice was just as distracting as regular texting behind the wheel if you are planning on taking a business trip, google knows when you will be going and when you will be back it is part of the google search app for iphone and ipads. what is new, these cards. this is my google now. it is still learning my habits but you can see on the bottom right, it realizes it is time for me to leave for work and shows me the traffic and the weather and the fact that the giants won, stuff that i care about automatically pops up. if i did have a flight today, it

donny baseball snagging a couple kernels of corn. thank you very much. one of the stories we are following today now, this morning, a south bay woman is under arrest, accused of swapping out orange juice at a san jose starbucks with a poisonous concoction. she came into a starbucks on snell avenue in south san jose yesterday afternoon and replaced two bottles of o.j. with bottles from her bag. they allegedly had a mixture of juice and rubbing alcohol. alert customers noticed the woman's suspicious behavior. they were able to get her license plate number as she drove off in her car. police arrested her at her home last night it is 5:15. we bring back in meteorologist, christina loren. based on what you are telling us, a good day goat out to the beach but you better take some

told you about. it is blocking two of your four lanes. chp has immediately called a significant alert situation. that means they expect it to take 30 minutes or more to clear. it is going to cause significant impact. you see the slowing coming out of east richmond. we will watch for it. a big rig. 15 tons of tractor-trailer. they need a special truck to get it out of the roadway. we wrill see how it builds. the tri-valley moves smoothly. over through castro valley as more cars start to hit the road. 880, traffic flows smoothly. san jose, your northbound route showing a mild build. 101, around 680, not a problem. 101 through the northbound side has cleared from the

construction southbound. 5:18. this morning, crews are finding more bodies as they comb through the wreckage of that building collapse in bangladesh. at least 384 people are confirmed dead. rescuers are using heavy machinery to cut through the destroyed building after giving up hope of finding any more survivors. a bangladesh court is giving police 15 days to interrogate the owner of the building. mohammed rena is being held on charges of negligence. he was brought to court in a bullet-proof vest and a helmet. hundreds protested outside the court holding bamboo sticks and throwing stones at least 17 people are found dead after a chicago-run company crashes in afghanistan. it was carrying vehicleings and other cargo and crashed at

bagram airfield north of kabul. five of those seven people killed are from michigan. the taliban initially claimed responsibility for bringing down thaboing 747. nato says those claims are false the u.s. and nato wrapped up joint military operations. the north said they would attack south korea. the south korean ministry will continue to closely observe the north. there are more than 28,000 u.s. troops stationed in south korea. north korean leader, kim jong-un was last seen touring an upscale shopping district, the first time he as been seen at a nonmilitary facility in 40 days. they showed him visiting restaurants and cosmetic and

discovered in georgia. historians studying this film shot by a very well think plantation owning family in thomasville, georgia. the 28-millimeter film shows employees of the pebble hill plantation playing in a baseball league against some other teams based on the old south plantation. it runs 26 seconds, exceptionally rare footage. >> we suspect and are working to determine if it is the earliest footage of african-americans playing baseball period. >> they believe the film was shot back in 1919. the university of georgia has digitized this film and has now posted it online. pretty cool. >> it reminds me of seeing the movie "42." >> it was outstanding, beautiful film, worth seeing you are talking about the wind picking up today along with the temperatures. it is going to be a hot one. good morning. we smashed temperature records yesterday. the biggest piece of information i could bring to you this morning is, it is only going to

and the good news, a's finish on top. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, jon and marla. at 2:00 this morning, the oakland a's tweeted out, thanks for all the fans that stayed, watched us, followed us, longest game in history. we are talking about 6 1/2 hours. 19 innings until brandon moss finally ended it. >> deep to right. this may do it. it is gone! >> reporter: moss hit a walk-off two-run homer in the 19th inning of the game at 1:41 this morning. a lot of mercy in that hit. that brought the team's longest game ever to an end with a 10-8 victory over the angels. the players on both sides, of course, had a lot of heart through all this. three different center fielders left the game with leg injuries. we are talking about both teams here. the seventh inning stretch, the usual seven-inning stretch got a

replay with a 14th inning stretch after being up against the wall a few times. the a's did pull it out. brandon moss put it in perspective for us. >> my last few at-bats, i don't think i made contact with the pitch. trying to do too much. getting blown away by 95 after six hours. that is not very fair. you know, you just hang with it and hope that they throw something into your bat. the evening is so completely unusual that moss was handed a pie and told to pie himself. he did. he said josh reddick was too tired. tonight's game against the angels at 7:05. the last time the a's played 19 innings was back in 1972 against the white sox. this game last night went about 30 minutes longer. reporting live in oakland, christie smith, "today in the bay." >> 5:32. a bizarre story at a south bay starbucks coffee shop. this rng month, a woman is facing felony charges. she is accused of putting

poisonous orange juice on store shelves. officers were able to catch her thanks to an alert customer. "today in the bay's" bob redell is live outside the south san jose's starbucks with this story. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, marla. this starbucks on snell avenue has reopened this morning after it had to shut down yesterday afternoon so law enforcement could investigate this poisoning. police have arrested this woman that they said spiked two bottles of orange juice with rubbing alcohol. apparently, she created the mixture elsewhere and brought it inside the store around 3:30 yesterday afternoon. a customer became suspicious as she allegedly pulled those bottles out of her bag and put them in a refrigerated display case where other chilled items, like milk and yogurt are stored. an employee sniffed the mixtures, said it had a tox is smell to it, called 911. hazmat tested the juice and determined it had been mixed with rubbing alcohol.

no one drank the mixtures. they were able to track down the woman at her home through her license plate number jotted down by one of the employees. police arrested ramina bebehanian for poisoning. they believe this 50-year-old woman acted alone. they don't know why she allegedly did this. reporting live, bob redell. "today in the bay." right now, a follow-up to a story we first brought to you sunday night hours before a fire ripped through a vacant motel in mountain view. police arrested somebody on suspicion of trespassing. only nbc bay area was there to get video of the fire. firefighters say the flames spread very quickly, because the building did not have sprinklers. about a dozen units are damaged. no be was injured. the cause of this fire remains under investigation. police telling us they have arrested that suspect and trespasser sunday afternoon about five hours before the flames broke out. it is unclear if the arrest is linked to that fire. investigators say they have

not found any signs of foul play in the death of a san francisco sheriff's deputy, whose body was found in the bay yesterday. search teams found michael robert's body floating in the vallejo marina. his boat had been found adrift. it is not clear how he ended up in the water. a pilot is dead and firefighters are searching for more victims after two small planes collided in mid-air over ventura county. the radar showed the two aircrafts collided eight miles east. one plane landed on a golf course in west lane village. that caused minor injuries to the three people on board. the second plane slammed into the santa monica mountains about five miles away and started a one-acre fire. it is unclear how many people were on that plane but officials have discovered the pilot's body. the faa and ntsb are

investigating the sports world throwing support behind a former stanford athlete. now, the first active openly gay player in an american team sport. he is pro basketball player, jason collins, coming out. the reaction for the most part from the nba, very positive. commissioner, david stern, says, quote, we are proud he has assumed the leadership mantle on this very important issue. nba and nfl consultant, harry edwards, says, although he will be for the most part accepted, there will be some that do not like his decision to come out. >> he is going to have to deal with how do i really feel about the cat calls, about this teammate that said xy and z, what do i think about the death threats, what do i think about the nasty letters and e-mails that he is inevitably going to get. >> support for collins going beyond the sports world. former president, bill clinton, releasing a statement in support of collins, along with a lot of

passed bill someone made a typo. they left the letter "s" off the word accounts. that's significant because the whole purpose of this bill was to allow the transportation secretary to dip into several accounts to pull the money to pay the air traffic controllers to get them back on the jobs and get the planes in the air and get people out of the long waits. they left the "s" off. the house has already passed a fix on this. the senate plans to do so today and send it off to the president's desk. what could be a big deal, the other groups out there. hey, if they can be exempted from the big, budget cuts, why can't we. the american cancer society says there is research funding that desperately needs to be restored where people could end up losing their lives. teachers very upset about kids waiting in line for head start. 3200 groups, a coalition of them
