or two blocked still with overnight road crews. you don't see slowing on our sensors. the city itself moves slowly and the bay bridge is just fine. south 101 approaching silver, a disabled vehicle on the shoulder. reports are that there was someone that was over there by the side of the car as well. we'll get updates once the chp arrives. we'll watch this interchange carefully. we'll send it back to you. >> new hope this morning as investigators may have found the man wanted for stabbing and killing an 8-year-old girl in her central valley home. 44-year-old jason way rain was arrested yesterday. he's accused of breaking into an apartment and trying to kidnap a 15-month-old child. placer ville is 15 miles away from where the child was found in valley springs. calaveras county investigators say they're aware of his arrest and will analyze dna samples to see if he has any connection to

the little girl's death. last night friends and supporters gathered outside her elementary school in valley springs. many wore pink and purple. her mother and older brother spoke to the crowd thanking them for their support. >> i just want to thank the entire community and all of our family and friends for the overwhelming amount of support you've given my family. it will never be forgotten. thank you. >> around 3,000 people attended that vigil, more than the entire population of valley springs. new this morning, workers all over the world marching for workers' rights. there is special significance in bangladesh. thousands of workers there taking to the streets in the country's capital demanding safety reforms and justice for the owner of the garment factory complex that collapsed last week killing 400 people and injuring 2500 others. a total of 900 people are still mittsing and they are feared

dead. meantime in greece, trade unions calling for a 24-hour strike to mark the mayday. the union says government economic reforms have destroyed the rights and livelihoods of workers there. teachers, civil servants and bank employees refusing to go to work. passenger ships and railway services also coming the a screeching halt. the latest austerity measures in greece require that country to cut 15,000 civil jobs by next year. meantime here at home the mayday marches calling for immigration reform. rallies set for san francisco, san jose and oakland at 3:00 this afternoon. san francisco's march begins at 24th and mission streets. in san jose protesters gathering at our lady of guadalupe church on san antonio streets. in oakland people meeting up at fruitvale plaza. on the peninsula, marchers gathering at ring storm park.

workers rallying and marching in support of a plan $15 an hour minimum wage. it will wind its way through downtown. facebook boss mark zuckerberg could be greeted by unwanted visitors in menlo fark this morning. protesters plan to deliver a petition signed by nearly 19,000. they're upset about a tv ad funded by zuckerberg's new political group. it supports the keystone xl pipeline which has been criticized by environmentalist. the group 350.org wants the ads to stop. zuckerberg's group called fwd.us is committed to comprehensive immigration reform. a bay area boy injured in the boston marathon bombing two weeks ago back in home just in time to celebrate his birthday. aaron hearn turning 12 years old, still recovering from several surgeries on his leg

after he was seriously hurt in the april 15th explosions. good news, doctors expect aaron to make a full recovery. his friends say all aaron want for his birthday was to be out of the hospital and to be home. >> good for him. 4:36. fed up with furloughs and lay-offs, hundreds of oakland city workers are sounding off. they showed up at city hall before last night's budget meeting. after years of furloughs and lay-offs more than 3,000 union workers say they will not stand for anymore pay cuts. crime technician jeff heyman says they can't afford to. >> we've had to give a lot of that back. for years we have gotten no raises. the work loads have increase sgld mayor jean quan's two-year, billion dollar project calls for 64 full time officers which triggers cuts in other areas. critics say it's a dangerous plan.

city hall is also asking workers to contribute more for skyrocketing health care coverage and pension costs. parts of the bay area under a red flag warning this morning from the south bay to the east bay hills to the diablo area. cal fire increasing staffing and equipment levels with fire season starting early this year. cal fire officials say they're bracing for a long and challenging summer. >> what we'll see in august, september is a longer window where we'll have the opportunity to have large major damaging fires in california. >> firefighters tell us they are extremely worried about that tall dry set of weeds out there. there's not been a major wildfire in the area since back in 2009. so there's plenty of dry vegetation there to burn. >> all right. it's tough as well when those winds kick up. let's check the forecast with meteorologist christina loren. >> good morning, guys. that's exactly what's happening. john and laura, welcome back. we still have these gusty winds

pumping through the hills. it didn't get all that gusty south of 92. so the south bay we had a gentle breeze that felt pretty good. winds were whipping over parts of the bay area including the coastline and the higher elevations. we still have this red flag warning in place until 6:00 p.m. this evening. that goes for the hills above 1,000 feet. you really want to take caution out there especially if you live near mount tam. as we head throughout the day, the winds will be a factor, strongest between 3:00 and 7:00. those winds will start to drop off. this morning a little bit of a break. temperaturewise our numbers are all over the place. 70 in santa rosa and 47 in gilroy. those micro climates will dictate whether you need pull out the sweater. just about everywhere you can get by with the short sleeves right off the bat. by noon in the mid to upper 70s and round out the day in the mid 90s. tomorrow we have a heat advisory

in place as we're expecting the first triple digits of the season only to be followed by temperatures tumbling back into the 60s and 70s. we'll include the rain in the forecast as well. a lot to talk about in your next report. first let's check your drive. good morning, mike. >> as we're looking at the bay bridge at 4:39 in the morning. an easy drive up the incline from oakland and vice versa. road crews typical on the bridge. you only lose a lane or two. traffic so light not a problem. the only slowing right around the toll plaza and the incline, typical for interstate 80. looking towards the carcinas and bean nearby yeah bridges. here it's eastbound at 80 where we do have a stall, it looks like the westbound side is starting to show slowing as road crews also start to clear as you approach or leave that junction. highway 128 has traffic control around scott because of the fires. the roadway itself, 128 is open.

we're tracking all of those as well as slowing for highway 4 here and across the san mateo bridge. speaking of traveling, mike, today virgin america airlines celebrating a new service out of san jose min net that, international. they'll start flying daily non-stop flights to los angeles. mayor chuck read and sir richard branson kick things off at terminal a this morning at 9:00. time for the gold rush to begin. a brand new roller coaster opening up at great america with the park going old school on this one. the gold striker is a wooden roller coaster, reminiscent of an old mine shaft. never fear it's all high tech. when it opens today, it will be the tallest and fastest wooden roller coaster in all of northern california. stands 108 feet high at its peak and the coaster can reach a top speed of more than 53 miles per

welcome back everyone. a good wednesday morning to you. do you wish you were on the love boat this morning? live look outside of the embarcadero. someone is coming or going, maybe enjoying their vacation. 4:44. tesla motors is leaving menlo park. the electric car retailer says lit close its menlo park store this summer. the land the store currently sits on is owned by stanford university t. university has asked tenants to leave so it can drop the property. tesla says it's opening a new store in burlingame that will coincide with the closing of its menlo park shop. >> nearly 1800 movies are no longer available on netflix. the los gatos pulling the films because of expiring contracts.

from comcast, the parent company of nbc universal, master card, time warner and viacom. the fed wrapping up its two-day meeting this afternoon, not expected to make any major policy changes. the dow rising 21 points to 14,839 t. nasdaq up 21 to 3,338. ebay ceo john donohoe say it is company is considering adding virtual currency as a payment option on paypal. he says it's a disruptive technology that helped spot legitimate sites such as spotify and itunes. it's currently accepted by a few retailers but mostly held by speculators hoping to profit for wild pricings. marissa meyer received $36 million in competition for 2012 after joining yahoo! last july.

we have high temperatures that are going to rival records yet again today or tomorrow. we are challenging all time records for this second day. this morning -- 70 degrees there where lows are 40s and 50s, 20 degrees above average to start the day. we're going to end up with another very hot day. today we'll lose the wind later on. not until tonight. still very dry out there, warm conditions. gusty winds we still have the high fire danger, not just us now. more of those red flag warnings popping up in southern california as well. this is going to become a statewide story. if anything drops, we'll let you know. we'll be on top of this all day long until the red flag warning expires 6:00 p.m. this evening. that's where we'll see a lot better conditions. our winds are still coming out of the east-southeast, that's offshore flow. that means everything is pushing right back out to sea.

the typical marine influence we get, that cool sea breeze not going to be the case for today. as a result just uniform temperatures. talking about the 80s in oakland, close to 80 degrees in san francisco and the wind will be pumping especially for the second half of the day. overall, hot today, even hotter tomorrow. that's when we're expecting the scorcher. 91 degrees for today in livermore, 91 in gilroy. 88 in santa theresa. the next few days, up to 95 degrees. heat is on. that's your san jose livermore temperature. gilroy, fairfield, easily hitting those triple digits. depends on how warm we are when we wake up tomorrow morning. here is where it gets really interesting. saturday, looking a little cooler at that time coast. you can hit the beach comfortably. we'll lose ten degrees of warmth on sunday and then we bring in showers monday into tuesday along with the mid to low 70s. temperatures are going to fluctuate dramatically between now and next tuesday. we've got a roller coaster ride.

news of his death brought out celebration right outside white house and sporting events all across the country. new this morning, same-sex couples in colorado celebrating as civil unions officially become legal at the stroke of midnight. a lot of couples gathering for a pre celebration in denver hosted by 1 colorado, that's the main group that lobbied for civil unions. the new law takes effect seven years after the gay marriage ban. >> rhode island will become the tenth state to allow same-sex couples to tie the knot. it's being sent to the legislation for a final vote that is expted to pass. it is 4:51. a major off-season injury forces stanford's quarterback to retire. we'll have details next. plus ibm's historic new
