good monday morning. 4:31. i'm jon kelley. >> i'm laura garcia-cannon. let's first check the forecast from meteorologist, christina lorne. good morning to you, laura and jon. we have showers on the radar this morning. let's get right to that. they are creeping up from the south pushing to the north. you might want to grab your umbrella specially if you live south of the golden gate bridge. they move through the north bay first. that is not the case for the south bay. they are going to see the most activity. we will let you know when the showers will sub size where you live. this is not our only chance for rain this week. then, we warm you back up. your full forecast in a few moments. first, we will check that drive with mike. >> we will watch the santa cruz mountains and 110. this is northbound with those tail lights out of palo alto heading up into menlo park, willow and a light flow of traffic. we will show you farther north

on the maps. passing populalar, we had a cra. it sounds like one crew is still on scene. there is no slowing so far. very light on that side of the bay. moving over toward the bay bridge, no problems around the may. we will show you a wider look. 580 through oakland. no incidents, guys. back to you. >> it was a tragic scene. now, the driver of the limousine that caught fire on the san mateo bridge is explaining what happened in his own words. cell phone video captured the flames na engulfed the back of that limo. five women were trapped inside. sadly, all died. four others were able to escape and rushes to a nearby hospital. the driver, orville brown, says one of the women started pounding on that partition that separates the driver from the passengers and he said, he didn't understand at all what was going on at first. >> smoke, smoke, smoke. pull over, pull over, pull over.

there was all this smoke. i pulled over and by the time i was getting out the door, there was a lady coming through the partitions. >> brown says he helped three of the women come through that partition to escape. he says, he truly wishes he could have done more. right now, he is going to donate two weeks of his paycheck to the victims families. we are also learning more about the investigation and the victims of this tragedy. they were out celebrating an upcoming wedding ceremony. the bride, norwiza fohas, was among the dead. she planned to return to the native philippines for another ceremony next month. >> she is really nice and caring and special to all our nieces. just a sweet person. she was loving and caring. >> investigators say the fire

started in the rear passenger side door of the limo. the flames in the back quickly trapped the women inside. four women and the driver were able to escape. the coroner says, the other women were also trying to escape through the small partition window but were overcome by smoke. the limousine company, limostopincorporated, released this statement. we are deeply saddened by the tragedy saturday night involving the young women, five of whom lost their lives in the limousine fire on the san mateo bridge. limb know stop will do everything possible to assist authorities to determine the cause of the fire and help bring forth answers and provide closure to the victims and their families. we will have continuing coverage of the deadly fire coming up at 5:00. we will have details from this morning's news conference during our news at 11:00. you can get the latest details on our website. s.w.a.t. teams had to be called in to clear the streets of downtown san jose after cinco

de mayo celebrations turned violent. this started with a stabbing and escalated to a police emergency at about 8:30 last night. police say more than 300 people took over santa clara streets near the intersection of 21st street. they destroyed a bus and shattered the windows there with bottles. dozens of police officers in riot gear had to come in and clear out the rowdy crowd. >> use everything we had to disburse that crowd. it was very quick on the disperse sal, about an hour. 4:35. east palo alto, police will hold a news conference after a series of violence, where a young girl was wounded. a grandmother and her 6-year-old granddaughter were caught enter the cross fire of what appeared to be a gang shooting. the young girl was cut by shattered glass. four victims ran into a mcdonald's looking for shelter.

police are looking at surveillance camera video to help them identify suspects. a man was also injured on saturday night when he was shot outside his home on cooley avenue. a gray sedan pulled up in front of the man and someone inside opened fire. the man is in serious condition this morning. cal fire kicking off wild fire awareness week this morning. the week will include a series of state meetings looking at how firefighters and emergency responders can prepare for what looks to be a long and very tough fire season. the bay area has already been hit with a series of small fires. firefighters in san jose knocking down a vegetation fire at quicksilver park just yesterday. a helicopter and state firefighters were called in to help. we are happy to report, no one was hurt and there was no serious damage. >> sometimes the winds don't cooperate with the fires. >> we actually had quite a bit of shower activity from southern california to northern california, which was on the side. a firefighter down there, this

is still one of the times of the years when we do get rain showers. all it does is add to more growth. it makes for more concern when it comes to our fire season. after all, we are now well into may, the 6th day of may. we are talking about showers on the radar. i will get to that. want to point out where temps are. 57, concord, 59 degrees in san francisco. i.e., it is mild out there. the showers feel rather tropical. they are sneaking up from the south pushing to the north. we are going to see more activity, specially down in the south bay. you can see a fair amount of shower activity from san jose through livermore in the east bay. that could make for a rough ride home. the showers will continue, specially on the east end of the bay area. we stop the clock for you once more. at 7:00 p.m., same deal, showers mostly impacting the south bay. fremont getting a little bit of activity. highs are going to be comfortable.

welcome back, everyone. taking a live look outside from san jose, expecting some change when it comes to the forecast this week. checking in with christina loren in just a bit. 4:33. the u.s. senate is expected to pass a long-debated internet sales tax. if it becomes law, it would require consumers to start paying sales tax for online purchases. the legislation received broad support early on but now must the pass a final senate vote before it goes to the republican controlled house for approval. they estimate that if the bill is enacted, more than $12

that strong. showers are moving from south to north. nothing heavy. grab that umbrella. send the kids off to school with the umbrella as well, specially in the south bay. if you live south of the golden gate bridge, you have the best shot of seeing any sort of activity. from livermore, san jose, fremont, east bay, we could see a little bit of activity. on the north end, that's all we are expecting of the east bay. throughout the next couple days, this is going to be the active pattern as well. we will keep that forecast for showers in the mix all wait through tuesday and then finally on wednesday, a nice cool shot of air. temps are going to remain in the 70s. overall, looking much cooler this week. look at all the 70s headed our way. we are going to climb back up just in time for mother's day weekend, which is sunday. arer that, specially if you are laura garcia cannon. >> i always do and they have been reminded. thanks so much. it is 4:46 right now. new this morning, we have web

video that claims to show an israeli rocket hitting a military research center in syria. israel reportedly got involved to stop weapons from going to the militant group, hezbollah. the white house says it was not aware of the attack before it happened. some lawmakers are urging the president to arm syria's rebels. others are concerned saying the weapons could fall into the wrong hands. one of the worst industrial accidents in the world is getting deadlier by the day. more than 650 bodies have been recovered from the collapsed garment building in bang that desh. heavy equipment has been brought in to remove the slabs of concrete from that eight-story building. crews were able to rescue 2400 people since it came down nearly two weeks ago. >> lawyers for a man charged with lying to investigators after the boston marathon bombings, plans to ask a federal judge to release their client.

19-year-old robel phillipos had nothing to do with the bombing. they charged him and two other friends with conspiring to obstruct justice by taking a backpack with fireworks from dzhokhar tsarnaev's dorm room. he remains in a prison hospital. detectives not giving a hope when trying to find out who stabbed leila fowler in her home. dive recovery teams searched two reservoirs in the area for evidence. friends of the victim's family says they are hopeful the search for evidence will bring deputies one step closer to an arrest. >> we are all concerned. i have three girls. they are little. they used to play outside but since this, now, they don't. >> in the meantime, investigators are knocking on the doors of hundreds of homes in the valley springs and rancho
