. . . police finally catch the woman they have been looking for after a couple of armed robberies. all this time, ten years, nobody has figured nothing out about where she is at and then this has come to an ending and it is right here in see more. three missing women found alive ten years later. we have the new details we are learning this morning about how they are doing and the rescue that brought them finally to safety. i look back and you know she said smoking. >> this morning, we get answers to some troubling questions for the limousine fire that claimed

the lives of five. a school district is ch chastised for how it handled a recent bullying incident. tuesday, may 7th, "today in the bay." it is 4:31. good morning, everybody. thanks a lot for joining us. i'm jon kelley. i'm laura garcia-cannon. a major intersection in san jose is shut down following a police chase and crash. they are on the intersection of yerba buena road. bob redell just talked to officers. what are they telling you? >> reporter: part of the intersection has been reopened. the police are removing the stolen bmw that three suspects used to get away from an armed robbery of a 7-eleven overnight.

police caught up with them here on the east side. they had a chase that lasted about a minute and a half until the beamer with the three suspects crashed into some bushes, up against the house, never went into the house, up against the house here at silver creek and yerba buena. the three people have been taken into custody. they include the main suspect, a woman, who police have been looking for, and her two accomplices, a man and another woman, who they believe is pregnant. all three of them have been taken into custody. police found out who she was when she tried -- they say she actually did perform an armed robbery at kirk and foxworthy at a 7-eleven. this happened overnight and they recognize from from two armed robberies that took place a month ago.

a month ago, she came to this area to dump her car. police remembered that. when they knew she did this armed robbery again tonight, they came over here thinking maybe she would have the same m.o. maybe she would try to do the same thing. lo and behold, they did catch up with her. they saw the car. there was this chase. that's where she crashed right over there with those two people inside. they believe she carried out the armed robbery while the other two people were in the getaway car. all three of the suspects are now under arrest taken to the hospital for minor injuries. reporting live, bob redell, "today in the bay." time to get the check on your tuesday weather. christina loren is here to fill us in. >> we still have showers on the radar. laura and john, let's take it to you. let's take it to your california radar to show you how much rain is coming down. across the state. let's zoom into the san jose bay area. as you can see, for the most part, light activity.

okay. it was a shocking discovery in ohio. three women missing for nearly a decade from a cleveland neighborhood, waking up at a local hospital. amanda berry, gina day hejesus michelle nigh michelle knight. they were all found alive not too far from where they were seen. a neighbor heard screams and amanda berry finally escaped. the gentleman that rescued them used his phone to call police. >> i've been kidnapped and missing for ten years and i'm here. i'm free now. >> this girl going nuts on the door. when i come up the house and look, i say, that don't look right. i pried the door open so she could climb through. how he had the door, you couldn't open it completely. >> police have arrested three brothers in their 50s. they have not released any of the details.

the women all appear in good physical condition this morning. >> it is so amazing. their friends and family outside the hospital. they hugged, cried and smiled in amazement at news that their loved ones had been found. amanda berry's cousin, destiny sneed, said she never gave up hope her relative was alive. >> the whole time down here, i just cried. i'm excited to see her, hold her, tell her how much i love her and miss her. >> in just a few hours, police will hold a news conference to update us on the case and condition of the women. more details coming up in a live report the return of the three kidnapped women in cleveland, eerily similar to the case of jaycee dugard. phillip garrido and his wife, nancy, kidnapped the 11-year-old while she was walking to a bus stop from her south lake tahoe home in 1991. she was missing for more than 18 years. garrido and his wife kept her in

their backyard until they were arrested. both were convicted and are now serving life sentences we are learning more about the deadly limo fire on the san mateo bridge and what may have hindered the nine women in the back from trying to escape. the 14-passenger limo had only two passengers at the back of the vehicle and they were locked when the limo was in park and unlocking them may have been too much in the terrifying moments. >> these doors won't unlock until you hit the auto unlock button. >> in the front? >> in the front. you can manually unlock it here but if you are pulling on this door and it is not opening, i don't know if you will have the presence of mind to stop pulling on this and pull this up. >> the company that owned the limousine could be facing trouble for the number of women inside the vehicle. the limo was carrying nine passengers. it is only designed to carry eight. >> california utilities

commission says it might fine the san jose limo company for called advertising regarding the capacity of the limo. they could fine limo stop for every day they advertised the limo could carry more than eight passengers. make sure to stay with nbc bay area news for all the latest on this story. you can also find full coverage on our website at nbc bay area.com. simply search limo fire. the palo alto school district discussing students civil rights in a meeting today after a federal investigation revealed the district mishandled a bullying case. the u.s. department of education for civil rights found a violation for the district back in december involving a middle school student who was being bullied due to a disability. the agency said the district violated the school's civil rights by not properly handling that case. the palo alto weekly reports the district is adjusting its policy and will now update its progress

oakland, still okay. that construction still not yet cleared. another 20 minutes or so, getting over in alameda. here is what we found from the sunol camera. there were earlier reports a few minutes ago of a traffic hazard. also, maybe a crash farther south and those two things combined might be enough to cause this to break. it looks like it is coming out of sunol over toward free mon. it is slow once you pass the golf course and you are heading up the grade to the fremont side. it sounds like a temporary break. we will let you know if chp gives us any updates. this is south of here. you see 84. the rest of your tri-valley is okay. that's building pretty normally. the highway, mild going from antioch. you will see that slowdown from 20-25 minutes. that's how early it starts, guys. appreciate it. a live look outside. the hp pavilion where the san

jose sharks going for the series sweep over the vancouver canucks. the sharks up three games to none in the best of seven series. that is in the playoffs a win tonight would be the very first sweep in san jose's history. it would send the sharks to round two of the playoffs. the puck drops at 7:00. a crushing loss for the warriors, unable to pull out the win despite being up 60 points with 4:30 minutes left in the game. the spurs came back to send the game into double overtime in san antonio. the warriors up by one point with seconds left in the game when the spurs hit that three-pointer with 1.2 seconds left. warriors were unable to answer. they ended up losing it 129-127. so close. game two tomorrow night at 6:30 in san antonio again. >> there is that killer three-pointer. >> unbelievable. >> they haven't won since 1997. >> i don't think we should talk about that. >> i went to bed thinking they had that locked up. game three, friday night at

welcome back. the santa clara city council appears to be ready to sign more money. $56,000 just to study whether they should paint a bike lane outside the stadium. the money will be spent to study traffic routes, possible road configurations and environmental concerns. they plan to have bike racks, and even valet bike parking at the new stadium. watch the banana seat, will you? in the meantime, 49ers expected to officially submit their final bid to host super bowl in 2016.

miami took a hit after florida failed to get funding to renovate the stadium there, a requirement from the nfl. the owners are set to vote on the host city in two weerks. >> disney is tapping a bay area gaming company to help expand the star wars franchise. see seema mody, live at snbc, she has all the details. >> after stocks traded in a very tight range on monday, we did see the s&p 500 index still managing to close out at a new record high above the 1600 mark. the dow goes for 17 straight games on a tuesday today. that would be the first time that's happened in the dow's history. we do get data up on consumer credit and earnings from dead any. the dow slipping five points, nasdaq rising 14. disney believes a fourth is strong with electronic arts. it is teaming up with a company

happened. 4:47. this is such a tricky forecast wrapping my head around what's going to happen has been a difficulty. i have a handle on it and i have been studying the system all night long. what i can tell you is, we are going to see a few light showers and a few more pop-up thunderstorms today and by wednesday, it is all out of here. 55, livermore. 56 to start the day. 51 to start in oakland. nothing too heavy at this point. we are expecting more shower activity to develop and move on shore as we head throughout the day today. getting these spotty cells. as we head throughout the day, we will see more of this activity, wrap-around moisture. if you are headed into the central valley, watch out. you might get rained on all the way down south as you head over the 152 into the central valley to bakers field. there is that cut-off low. what i really want to point out to you is the center of circulation right here. it hasn't budged overnight. we are going to continue to see these little pop-up showers and thunderstorms move on shore as we head throughout the day.

it is 4:49. election day for some bay area voters, la honda-pescadero school district and portola valley elementary school district both holding elections to decide about taxes and lakeside to realign the district and los gatos are voting on whether to reflew an educational tax. pleasanton city council is holding a special date. >> a legal battle on the morning after pill and who should be allowed to buy it. a recent ruling makes the plan b after pill available without a prescription for teens as young as 15. that does go against the government's position on the pill. a motion by the justice department to delay that ruling will be heard today. the obama administration argues the pill should not be sold over

the counter to young teens a new study is raising safety concerns about a hormone used to induce labor. researchers found that women who were given oxytocin were more likely to have babies admitted to the neonatal intensive care and they scored lower on conditions minutes following birth. they suggest they have a valid medical reason when they do not use it. new this morning, new jersey governor, chris christie, revealing he secretly underwent lap band surgery. he said he agreed at that surgery at the urging of his friends and family after his 50th birthday last september. he said he was thinking of his four kids when he agreed to have the surgery. he reportedly had it february 16th. he told the post his appetite now is much smaller. a source close to the governor says, hey, he has already shed nearly 40 pounds. some people think this he is

crews in sfaens san francisco working to fix a sinkhole, 15 feet wide and 15 feet long. they think a 21-inch sewer line failure is the cause. there is no indication of when the hole will be fixed and when it will be reopened. >> luckily, no one was hurt. sometimes you see cars dive into it. it just opens we are going to check in with mike inouye. unfortunately, an accident deadly the coroner has been called to this scene, southbound 680. we can show you this, because we have a camera there in sunol. we see all the flashing lights blocking all but your slow

lanes. tha traffic is just eking by. it sounds a little more complicated than a regular accident. someone has died as a result of this. court on n court t the coroner has yet to arrive. this cob a major issue for that portion of your commute. this is the slowing you see out of sunol into fremont. if you are headed to the area, use 84. it is a windy road. it is very dark. if you head over that area, you can get over to mission back to 680 or over to the fremont side. it has a backup back to the golf course. if you can stick it out, 680, stay on that roadway. plan a good extra half hour to the area. by the time you get there, it will be really jammed up. 4:56 right now.
