>> and they raised -- >> $72 million. they brought the kids out from different schools. >> was that from the concert they did before? or just last night? >> just last night, unbelievable. it was a great, great event. >> send out another god bless you to angelina jolie. who we're finding out this morning, she wrote an op-ed in the "new york times" telling the world and good for her. that she kept this quiet, while she was going through it. >> she underwent a preventable double mastectomy. she got tested for a gene and a lot of women wonder am i carrying the breast cancer gene. she was in fact carrying it. but her was unique, a mutation of it. and her doctors told her there's an 87% chance of you getting breast cancer. with those odds, she chose to undergo a mastectomy. >> also a 50% chance of her getting ovarian cancer which her mother died from recently. >> in the last few years. >> it's a weird thing, when i

was diagnosed with cancer, i did the test to see if i had the gene. i didn't have the gene, but so decisions were easy for me. now i think they say only 5% to 7% of people have that mutated gene, only a small percentage of women. but i guess you have to talk with your doctors. i think it's a little unsettling, because if you do get tested and you have the gene, but you don't have the specific kind that raises the odds, what do you do with that knowledge? >> don't they usually give you what your odds are if you don't do x, y, and z? there are certain drugs you could take, some people don't want to take them. and there's a percentage that goes along with that. but everybody's case is absolutely unique. so talk with your doctors. >> you know -- some people -- >> i'm glad she had brad next to her through the whole thing and i'm grateful that they could do that privately. it's tough enough to face these kinds of things, she's a human being. she's not a movie star, she's a

human being, and those kinds of things usually remind you that they are, we're all just flesh and blood. and i tell you, the two things you take totally for granted until you lose them. one is your privacy. once you lose that, it's just, so unsettling. and the other is your health. >> your health. >> at the end of the day, if you don't have your health, how can you appreciate any blessing you have, you know? >> they say 40,000 women in the united states lose their battle with breast cancer each year. that's 40,000 a year. it's funny. >> how many globally? >> 450,000 around the world. >> but you know, it's interesting, because i remember when i was diagnosed with breast cancer. i went to tell my boss and i was so upset and i didn't know what to say. and he said, hoda, i know a lot of women with breast cancer and they all have one thing in common. and i said, what's that? and he said, they're still here. and it reminds you that the odds are high that you will still be here. it's funny, because my best friend's young daughter now knows a lot of people with cancer and she's not so afraid of it.

it's that time when sara breaks out of the city for a new adventure. >> we hear you survived the droppings a little birdie left in your hair. >> supposedly it's good luck. i decided to leave manhattan to get an extremely up close and personal look at some of the sea animals and wildlife. >> i busted out of the city and made it all the way to long island aquarium and exhibition center in riverhead, new york. so, fish me well. i'm not one to kiss and tell, but the folks at the aquarium sure know how to welcome a guest. >> i'm about to get my first sea lion kiss. i've been practicing. she looks like my chihuahua. how about a kiss. he set the bar pretty high for kisses. he was wet.

satisfaction that she was hoping for. >> and kylie has got a brand-new book out, that's fantastic. called "i'm no angel" and we're delighted that you're here today, sweetie. hello. so was it a tough decision? take us back to that time. you were obviously in a place that you thought was a great place. you were probably making great money. >> dream come true. was it a tough choice? and tell us what went into making that decision? >> well the choice was a lot easier than i thought it would be. there was just the total peace that i had. and you know, a peace like when i married my husband. that it was just the right thing and it was -- perfect thing for me. and so the choice that i made really was just brought peace to my life. >> i think it's very clear when you read the book, that you are not out to hurt anybody, victoria's secret or anything like that. and it really is very little about victoria's secret. it's really about the modeling industry, isn't it, that can be, can prey upon young women who

are really, really vulnerable. tell me about some of the things you witnessed that you concerned about. >> my book is really about the modeling industry as a whole and it talks about everything i went through from when i was 14 on about photographers that pushed me up against the wall and tried to you know touch me and get me to do things with them. photographers that pressured me into you know taking a little bit more off for photos. it was just a lot of pressure. pressure to be a certain weight. and -- >> a lot of bulemia. you saw a lot of drug use. >> a lot of drug use, a lot of bulemia and anorexia. actually one in five women struggle with an eating disorder. so it's a very prevalent thing. >> you don't seem judgmental about other people that choose that path and that should be said. >> we're excited, your gorgeous husband is here with you. we can tell you're very peaceful with your life and you've made great choices. >> you may not be a victoria's

77 in billings and nice and mild in seattle, 58 degrees. rain tomorrow in a good part of the country. pacific northwest certainly dealing with it, over into montana and into the dakotas. and just a fringe of nublds. so a bit of the a stormy day. our temperatures reboungding in new york and 75 in boston, 75, should be lovely in chicago. 734 in billings. nice and mild in san francisco. heading towards the weekend. on friday the east coast clearing out for most of us. a touch of rain pushing out from the mid-atlantic. 81 in d.c. and then we have a little rain coming in in the pacific northwest and rain in minneapolis, in the 70s. by saturday, in the northern plains, so we see in the dakotas there, but nice on the east coast and 70 in new york city.
