happening near blossom and snell road. >> marla tallez has the latest. what are they telling you? >> reporter: they tell me it is going to be some time, at least 3 1/2, 4 more hours until this scene is cleared. this all happened about 1:20 this morning at least. that is when the 911 call came in to san jose police dispatch. i am going to step out of the way to give you a look. eight or so patrol cars out here. a man was pronounced dead by san jose fire. the man appears to have been assaulted. we have just learned he was assaulted with some sort of a weapon. what weapon that is, they aren't saying at this point. this is very early in the investigation. investigators are out here with the homicide unit taking pictures all around the crime

scene. that focus is right behind this jack in the box on blossom hill and snell. traffic in the area is not affected, though the businesses on either side of this particular jack in the box, the parking lot completely roped off. if you had plans to head to this jack in the box, it is going to be closed for at least another four hours or so. the man's identity is not being released at this time. it is an adult male. as for suspects, no suspects have been identified at this time as well. we are waiting for the santa clara coroner to make their way out here. that's the latest from here. in south san jose, marla tallez, "today in the bay." >> thank you very much for the update. a person of interest in custody in connection with a triple stabbing that killed a 1-year-old boy and a 48-year-old woman. still going in and out of the home even at this early hour. the street is still blocked off this morning. we believe it the home behind the hedge that's lit up this morning after a deadly triple stabbing and a six-hour manhunt and what started in this allen rock neighborhood yesterday afternoon. they detained 27-year-old reuben ramirez. they did not call him a suspect. they did say they did not have any other persons of interest. around 3:30 yesterday afternoon, a man came home to find three relatives stabbed. a 48-year-old woman, a 1-year-old boy and a 3-year-old girl. the boy and the woman died. that man called police and called his brother, romero. >> translator: my brother told us to come fast, because we have a very big problem. he told us his wife was dead.

>> reporter: more than 50 officers were involved in the manhunt. the child victims according to romero are his brothers niece and nephew. relatives said the dead woman may have been ramirez's mother and that he lived in the home on view month avenue. a pastor we spoke with said ramirez, the person of interest, has a history of mental illness and was off his medication and deputies apparently recently responded to a report of violence at this address very recently. the latest information that we have on the survivor, the 3-year-old, is that she is in stable condition. reporting live in san jose, christie smith, "today in the bay." less than ten miles away from that scene, another gruesome crime scene. this morning, san jose police hoping clues found inside a hotel room will lead them to a killer. police say a maid discovered a woman's body inside a room at a holiday inn express not far from oak hill cemetery.

at 1:30 tomorrow afternoon. the wounds on her body are consistent with a homicide. the woman's name and age are not being released and investigators will not say whether she checked in alone or how long she had been staying at the hotel. the hotel parking lot was blocked off for several hours. many that wanted to starks the holiday inn express, ended up going elsewhere. >> it made me uncomfortable to go there. i am going to look for another place. >> you are going to find another place? >> yeah, definitely. i don't think my wife will want to stay. >> many guests were attending a convention in downtown san jose. >> a bay area youth pastor stands accused of trying to pay for sex with a 14-year-old girl. 45-year-old samuel yoon arrested. he responded by an ad posted by an under cover redeck tiff offering women for sex. he is a youth minister at the new community church in san leandro. he was down in san leandro

attending a youth conference with a youth group. he is out on bail facing several charges. we contacted his church group and they said they have no comment. 92 people, a total of 92, were arrested in that sting, including a 21-year-old from illinois. >> he was in orlando from chicago on his honeymoon. can you believe that? wow. >> that guy must be related to dr. phil. the majority of those arrested in the four-day string were from areas outside of florida. two boys arrested. it all happened in an alley off of arkansas street. both victims, under the age of 12. one shot in the foot. the other on the shoulder. no word on their conditions this morning. the vallejo times herald said two teenage suspects are in custody in connection with the shooting.

police have not confirmed it. >>. >> a driver with a bad temper is on the loose in the bay area accused of stabbing another driver at a gas station, the 76 station on warm springs boulevard and fremont. the suspect attacked the victim with a screwdriver staping him in the chest tuesday. police described this one as road rage or a road rage incident. the victim was taken to the hospital but the good news is, he is expected to recover. the suspect took off in a car and has not been found. a special fund-raiser will be held for the martinez boy injured in the boston marathon bombings. he went through several surgeries after one of the bombs went off a few feet away from him. he got to go to a warriors game. tonight, armando's marina vista in martinez, will host a concert to help raise money for hearn and his family. tickets are $15 per person. >> good to see that young man smiling a great trooper ministers are going to

the south bay, san jose, just started to get the first showers of our morning, san martine morgan hill. all the showers are going to spread to the south. we will be tracking those minute by minute. temperatures are nice and mild this morning. we are only going to reach the 70s. bring the coat with you. pretty strong winds out there. highs, cool side. 68 degrees today in san jose. one of those mornings, even though it is early and you typically don't have the heavy volume at this point, get your mind set on driving through heavy weather. mike can help you out. the oil has settled on the roadway and it is going to rise up to the thin moisture hitting the roadways and the winds will make things a little more

an iconic sign in the south bay going away. scott herald from the murphy news reporting the 57,000 pound knight ridder sign which can be seen throughout most of san jose will be taken down. new owners of the building want to rebrand the building as 50 west. the company's cbre global investor says he plans to keep the structure atop the building but replace the back paneling. that night, knight ridder was once home to dozens of

newspapers tesla going to be the first to pay off its controversial green energy loan. scott mcgrew, that company is going to do that by opening up shares to new investors. a secondary offering. in a new financial filing, tesla says it is going to sell more stock, about a quarter billion dollars worth which will give the company plenty of cash to pay back the government immediately and further invest in this fremont factory. the department of energy loans, as you well know, have been problematic, the likes of s solyndra and fiskier. new music and features in google plus. google said very little, practically nothing, in fact, about it's new google glass.

let's check the markets this morning. jackie deangelis is live at cnbc world headquarters futures pointing to a lower open after yesterday's market melt-up. the rally continued. the dow closing at new record highs. today, data on unemployment. consumer prices and housing starts. watch for earnings from wal-mart's and kohl's. they came out this morning. we are going to look for details on the health of the consumer. the dow rising to 15,275. the nasdaq adding to 3471. >> apple said it sold its 50 billionth app in the apple istore. let me show you an app set to hit the store today from the guy who produced the movie, the ring. it is called haunting melissa. i decided to actually only show you stills here. it is so scary.

heading our way. let's get right to the radar. it does more of the talking than i can do. if you live in san jose, the heavier stuff is starting to move onshore. plan on a rough drive. mike and i are tag-teaming this. we are going to keep you updated. show you where the heavy pockets of rain are headed. 5:16 now. show you what we are dealing with this morning. that's moderate rainfall on the way to discovery bay. watch out for heavier pockets. that will continue to be the case as you head throughout the next 10, 15 minutes. we are going to see more developing and push offshore. light rainfall starting to move into campbell. not getting a whole lot of activity on the south end of san jose. that will become more problematic as we head through

the next several hours. the last to see the rainfall. 56 degrees in livermore. 57 in san jose. 50 in gilroy as we head throughout the day today. winds will also play a factor. if you drive a high-profile vehicle, hold on to your steeling wheel tight specially crossing bay area bridges. take it to the future, show you what we are expecting. the cold front high tails it out of here. clearing for the second half of the day. we stop the clock getting into the weekend. if you want to make the outdoor plans, even at the beach, high pressure is going to warm us up nicely. you will be able to do so. temperatures on the cool side. upper 60s. 50s in san francisco. you will need that coat, return to fall for the next couple of days. temperatures really warm up. we are talking about a rapid warmup, up to 90 degrees by sunday inland. so, if you are headed out to the

bay to breakers. let's look over to the maps where we are going to emphasize that the traffic and maps are integrated where we show the weather. that's the green highlighting that you see throughout the south bay. creeping through, as christina's radar system showed you. no major slowing. between 280 and 101, we have overnight crews. they will be moving over the next 20-30 minutes throughout the area. we will track a little slower drive. no big concern right now. no incidents for that area. marla tallez is still on the scene of the homicide investigation. this is blossom hill near snell at the jack in the box parking lot. the roadway is open. your access toward highway 85 is clear. she wanted you to know that and i did as well. that's okay for your morning commute. we will look into the tri-valley green all over the maps and show you where you might have wet

roadways. slow approaching highway 84. 84, a little slowing through livermore. this issue, eastbound around springtown, you do have a disabled vehicle that might affect the off ramp. through brentwood, some rain, a smooth drive. look at low clouds coming in there as well as across the golden gate bridge where you can no longer see the northbound side. we are going to send it back to you. 5:19. nearly a year after a woman fell out of a party bus on highway 17 and died, this morning, the owner of the party bus company is in jail. john st. james is now facing charges of vehicular manslaughter and involuntary manslaughter. he owns party bus of santa cruz. a grand jury determined st. james exhibited gross negligence in overseeing the maintenance of his company's bus and insuring his passenger's safety. if convicted, i faces a maximum six years in prison. the swine flu outbreak a few

years ago may have spread further than originally thought. researchers at uc davis say some elephant seals contracted that h1n1 var russ virus three years ago. this is the first time a human pandemic strain has been found in marine mammals. it started a worldwide influenza outbreak killing as many as half a million people worldwide. san francisco police are warning residents of a scam involving fake utility representatives. they pose as representatives of pg&e or the san francisco water department. they call people on the phone, claiming their bills are overdue and their service will be shut off it if they don't pay immediately. the scammers then tell the victims to call another phone number and pay using a money pack. neither pg&e or the san francisco water department uses

thanks for joining us. i'm jon kelley. >> i'm laura garcia-cannon. we are following breaking news in san jose in what's become a deadly 24 hours. four homicides since yesterday afternoon. the latest discovered by detectives near blossom hill and highway 85. that is where "today in the bay's" marla tallez is. what can you see? >> reporter: san jose's police department's homicide unit has taken over this investigation. you can get a good look at their official homicide vehicle right next door to this jack in the box. i have seen investigators coming in and out quite a bit in the last few minutes. this is their focus. the parking lot here right on blossom hill, where police found a man unconscious after getting a 911 call about 1:20 this morning. police say the man was assaulted with some sort of a weapon and pronounced dead in this lot behind the fast food restaurant near a dumpster and also near the drive d-through. his identity has not been

released and no word on any suspects. whoever did this to him is on the run this morning. the jack in the box was open at the time. it is now closed. i just spoke to one of the employees inside there. she tells me police are not telling her anything except they cannot reopen until police finish up their investigation. it is a 24-hour jack in the box. so it is pretty unusual that it is closed. the closest main intersection is blossom hill and snell. it is a popular one in the south bay. traffic is not affected because it is only 5:30 in the morning. i can also tell you that access to about a half dozen businesses on blossom hill on either side of the jack in the box. if you have business to take care of right here particularly right where this jack in the box is, you won't get to that this morning. police tell me they are going to get out of here for at least three more hours. >> in san jose, a person of interest in custody in

"today in the bay's" christie smith with the latest on that investigation going on. christie? >> less than 12 hours after this horrible stabbing, crime scene investigators are still here. they are going in and out of the house here, the yellow house you see in the distance. one investigator told me they will probably have the street blocked off for three more hours. two people dead including a 1-year-old after a six-hour manhunt last night. u.s. marshals and san francisco police detained a person of interest, 27-year-old reuben ramirez in san francisco. they didn't call him a suspect but said, we have no other persons of interest at the time. about 3:30 yesterday afternoon, a man came home to a horrific scene. a 48-year-old woman and a 1-year-old boy dead. a 3-year-old girl hurt, all of them stabbed. it is believed that the woman

lead them to a killer. they discovered a woman's body inside a room at the holiday inn express on monterrey highway around 1:30. detectives say the wounds on her body were consistent with a homicide. the woman's name and age are not being released. investigators will not say whether she checked in alone or how long she had been staying at that hotel. many of the guests were from out of town and were attending a convention in downtown san jose. counselors will be out at a san francisco elementary school today talking to students trying to help them deal with the death of their classmates, 9-year-old mikaela lynch. her body was found near the vacation home in clear lake yesterday morning. she disappeared on mother's day. mikaela, who has autism, went to school at sunset elementary. the parents received a letter about her death from the school when they picked up their kids yesterday afternoon. >> they explained that

unfortunately bad things happen to good people. >> school administrators will share the news of mikaela's death with their students sometime today. we continue to follow developing news out of texas where at least six people are dead, month are than 100 injured after multiple tornadoes toured through parts of north texas late last night. we have some amateur video shot of what looks like to be the tornado actually touching down. some of the video also shows strong winds, trees blowing back and forth. debris tumbling across the ground. also, reports of grapefruit size hail. "today in the bay's" kendra lynn is in granbury, texas, with new details on the deadly tornadoes you can see some of the debris from the tornado here. just take a look at this fence line. you can see metal and insulation, debris and damage just scatters the fence here.

in the distance, the shed is toppled in and the truck is turned sideways. this is not the worst o f it 679 we are being kept out of the hardest-hit neighborhoods. that's three miles out of the city of granbury. the sheriff believes three tornadoes hit that neighborhood. most of the 110 homes are heavily damaged. nearly 100 people had to be evacuated on buses. storm survivors describe it as living through a nightmare. at least six people died. the sheriff believes that number could climb as they search through the wreckage in the daylight. in hood county, kendra lynn. now, back to you. that's a pretty good-size homes there too. >> with the devastation, that type of thing, people run for cover. again, six people dead, sad out there. >> in our neck of the woods, you are going to wake up to what happened? april showers bring may flowers.

>> a little mixed up. >> may showers bring headaches for motorists in the morning. good morning to you. this is going to be a rough drive to work. mike and i are tracking it for you and making sure you are ready for those showers. a lot of people are going to wake up, walk out the front door and see the wet pavement and say, hey, i didn't know it was going to rain. we want to make sure you are aware of what you are getting into. the south bay has not seen a lot of activity. those showers are slowly but surely pressing to the south. in addition to the rainfall, we have gusty winds out there. it is one of those mornings, you don't want to dilly dally. make sure you get out of the front door in a timely fashion. specially if you are taking the little ones to school. as you can see here, our winds still coming straight out of the west. they are pretty strong. that's transporting that cool ocean air. even if your sicity doesn't pic up any shower activity, you will notice some substantial cooldown. you may have to use your heater if you sensitive to the

cold. only touching on 59 degrees. in san francisco, he is a busy man. he has been busy all week. good morning, mike. the first rain in a while. the oil is settled on the roadways. it will be extra slick in the beginning of your commute. we are looking to west 880 where the commute is beginning. it looks pretty smooth. the wet roads on the map, we will show you. we have integrated with our weather system. the green highlighting around interstate 80, we are looking at wet road conditions. compounding with that, we have your morning commute building at a crash. west 24, just as you are getting out of the caldecott tunnel, reports offer a motorcycle and a motorcyclist on the side of the road with a car and it sounds like there are injuries involved. the rest of the drive heading down towards the san mateo drive, pretty smooth. we see the drive picking up the volume and the camera trembles a

following the tornado that simply ripped through that area destroying homes and flipping cars and also a deadly scene, a total of six people, sadly died during this, 14 still unaccounted for out there. along with those tornadoes, it was just rough, grapefruit size hail falling on the area. we will continue reporting on this and keep you updated as more news comes into our newsroom. it is 5:43 right now. a deadly attack on a nato convoy in afghanistan kills at least six people, including two children and two nato service members. at least 35 other people injured in this one. the extent of those injuries is unknown. officials say a suicide attacker at the time doetonated a car. the explosion so powerful, it rattled buildings on the other side of the city. a muslim militant group claiming responsibility for this deadly attack. a 7-year-old child among

those killed following a pair of car bombings in baghdad. the two explosions happening in separate parts of the city. a total of 12 people were killed including that child and more than 30 people were injured. we have new video just in. police arresting the man accused of a mother's day parade shooting that injures 19 people including children there. late last night, you can see it there, u.s. martial arresting 19-year-old aquin scott. he was set to appear in court this morning on unrelated charges. >> later today, we are expected to learn more about what caused a devastating fertilizer explosion in west texas. state fire marshals and an investigators are going to release preliminary reports of a probe into the explosion. it killed 14 and injured more than 200 and completely demolished sections of the small town. investigators say they have already ruled out a natural cause, such as lightning.

they say water used to fight the fire did not contribute to the cause of the ex ploplosion as s had originally speculated. firefighter in southern california dealing with a fast-moving wild fire this morning. they are calling this one the grand fire. this started yesterday afternoon into the los padres national forest. huge plumes of smoke can be seen from miles away. a school and a campground have been evacuated trying to make sure everybody is out of the way of the flames. several roads also closed. the fire right now, they have a lot of work ahead here. only 10% contained. the cause of this one remains under investigation. it is(añ 5:45. dae par tea party leaders responding to the irs scandal that came to light this week. they admitted they singled out conservative groups that applied
