right now at 6:00, two crime scenes linked to a triple shooting overnight. what police on the scene just told them about the impact they could have on your morning commute. new details about a fast-moving wild fire sends thousands of kampers to clear out near santa barbara. >> a matter of what residents want. we could raise taxes or simply just reorganize the way we do certain things in the city. >> putting more cops on street at the expense of firefighters. controversial proposal meant to crack down on south bay crime. we are done with the rain for now. what i can tell you is, it is a mild start with a blanket of clouds overhead. thick fog starting to develop. department is triple digit heat just around the corner. we'll give you the timeline for all the changes. if you had one yesterday, you are done with the vacation now as well.

the backup at the toll plaza, some slicker roads and now a new incident for the nimitz. we will show you the slowdown as it shows upcoming through oakland. looks like everyone is headed back to work. what will the forecast hold. we will check with christina. mike mentioned the morning commute as we take a live look outside overlooking san francisco. it is tuesday, may 28th. this is "today in the bay." good morning. we continue to follow breaking news. an update where we have just learned new details about a triple shooting that has police at two separate crime scenes across san francisco. "today in the bay's" bob redell joins us live in the mission this morning. bob, one of the crime scenes we understand involves one of the busiest b.a.r.t. stations in san francisco. good morning to you, laura. we are here at 16th and mission outside the b.a.r.t. station

which is below us. if you have business in this area, not affecting b.a.r.t. mission street is back open. the muni 14 line is back in service. part of the plaza is still shut down. this is a crime scene where just over two hours ago, three people were shot. ten, at least ten shots fired according to sfpd. two people were hit in the leg. the third person was hit in the torso. all three people in the hospital. two of them with nonlife-threatening injuries. the condition on the other person still unknown. as far as what led up to this shooting, what the motive was, police have not released that. it is not clear if they know. now, i want to shift over to another crime scene on another part of town in the bayview as you were mentioning at cameron and nichols. a short time after this the shooing, sfpd rammed an older model mercedes. they said it is related to the shooting. they are not coming out and

saying whether or not these people are suspect. 0 detained. they also have witnesses unrelated to the bayview scene. they are not telling us how helpful or cooperative they are being. there are witnesses to this shooting. you have three people who were shot here outside the b.a.r.t. plaza. 16th and mission. this happened around 3:50 this morning. two of them with nonlife threatening injuries. the condition of the third person unknown. it is not clear how much longer csi is going to be out here processing the scene. they have been out here for at least an hour. so it is quite possible that maybe they are going to be wrapping up soon and this part of the plaza will be back open. as far as your commute, this is not affecting b.a.r.t. an muni and mission street is back open. reporting live in the mission district, bob redell, "today in the bay." more breaking news as you are updating that. we just got a condition of the third victim that you mentioned now in life threatening

condition. happening now, a wild fire threatening dozens of homes and cabins and vacation rentals at los padres forest. up to 6,000 people are on evacuation orders. 1,000 acres is about the size of san francisco's golden gate park. so far, a u.s. forest servicet:o garage and two vehicles have burned. right now, the fire is just 5% contained. the red cross has set up an evacuation center at santa barbara city college. with the murder rate quickly climbing in san jose, one city leader is push for a way to get more police officers out on the street. his plan isn't too popular with firefighters. "today in the bay's" marianne favro live in the bay in san jose with a look at reaction. good morning. the plan is to have firefighters respond only to fires in san jose and not medical emergencies. we talked to a fire department spokesman and he says this is a

bad idea, because it will put public safety at risk. pier pierre louiji oliverio. the proposal to get more cops out on the street stems from a 2011 grand jury report. that recommended fire crews only respond to fire. the report found 70% of fire department calls are not fire-related. >> it was really a matter of what residents want. we could raise taxes or we could simply just reorganize the way we do certain things in the city and provide you 110 more police officers tomorrow. >> the weekend murders now bring the city's homicide rate to 19 on pace to match last year's total of 46, which was, by the way, the highest it has been in 20 years. the san jose fire department has 33 different stations, including this one.

starting to come down. still, you can see most of the roof tops here looking okay in san francisco. it is when you hit that golden gate bridge over the open water where you are going to lose visibility. travel cautiously out there. looking pretty light. we are going to check on the rest of your drive in just a moment. temperatures are nice and mild to start the day. we don't have any flight delays just yet out of san francisco but, yet, with all the low ceilings overhead, i wouldn't be surprised to see some go up as we head throughout the next half hour. a lot of people trying to get home after the holiday or back to work, back to business tuesday. 56, san francisco. 56, napa. we are still holding strong at 60 in san jose and sunnyvale. as we progress throughout the day, your hour by hour detail works like this. we will see the clouds start to break apart by noon. 65 degrees, a mix of sun and clouds. 75 degrees in the heat of the day. holding on to most of the cloud cover at the immediate coast, the west coast, as we head throughout the day today. you will see some sunshine, just not as much as we are expecting

trunk drivi drunk driving arrests for the memorial day weekend. from friday night until this morning, chp officers arrested more than 1100 people statewide for driving under the influence. that includes 61 in santa clara county. that's about twice as many arrests as last year. officers also responded to two deadly crashes in the bay area. >> a santa cruz psychologist accused of molesting his patients is expected back in court this morning. 52-year-old john visher is charged with 20 counts of child molestation and pornography. there are more victims suffering in silence. his victims are urging others to come forward. if convicted, he faces life in prison. >> trading one abuse scandal with another. we will tell you why the new athletic director is being haunted by his past and what he is now saying about the

day. here over san francisco, you can clearly see that bay bridge actually watch the commuters making their way across the main thoroughfare between san francisco and oakland. now, let's show you the golden gate bridge, a little bit more problematic with all the low clouds settling right to the surface. the only place you are going to lose that visibility is right at the immediate coast over your open water bridges and through the higher elevations this morning. you can see from your visibility readings here, we are at 7 miles or better across the board at the surface. let's talk fog and when we are expecting it to clear. a little bit of lingering cloud cover over san jose and the peninsula starting to get some sunshine in santa rosa. stopped the clock again heading into the 2:00 hour. mostly sunny over the greater bay area. nice, temperaturewise. 75, inland. bayside, 70 degrees. 62 at the coast. we are going to get some beautiful beach weather.

slowing from downtown toward 16th. slowing for the spectators. 580, much more smooth of a drive coming off the castro valley "y." you see the slowing in the tri-valley, 580 through livermore and pleasanton hiding to sunol for south 880. meanwhile, we will end with this map and send it back to you. >> a different mode of transportation. a horse recovering this morning after being rescued from a well in san rafael. it took crews several hours to free the horse from that 25-foot well on the north san pedro road. the horse, named buddy, had to pull him out, luckily, was not seriously hurt. buddy apparently fell in when the well's cover broke yesterday afternoon. lots of cheers andf&d celebrat there. small space made the rescue pretty difficult. a crane operator and a vet on

new this morning. an unknown number of people are missing after a ferry capsized after hitting rocks in malaysia. it was believed to be carrying much more than its recommended limit of 74 passengers when it went down. villagers in fishing boats now joining fire and police divers to search for missing passengers. the district police chief says there appears to be dozens of survivors. it doesn't have any exact numbers. >> a close call for two officers in northern ireland after two pipe bombs were thrown at their vehicle. the officers say the two blasts went off after they responded to a bogus emergency call in north belfast. neither officer was hurt. so far, no group is claiming responsibility for the ambush. police sheltered people who live in that area at a nearby gymnasium overnight. a shocking but amazing rescue out of china caught on tape. firefighters pultd a newborn

baby boy out of a sewage pi residents of a building reported hearing a baby crying in a fourth floor toilet. firefighters bound the newborn lodged in piping. take a look at how they rescue and literally pull that little baby out of the pipe. they had to cut the sewage pipe out of a wall. they rescued a five-pound baby believed to be about two days old. they took him to a local hospital where doctors had to cut away the rest of the pipe piece by piece. the infant is alive and said to be in stable condition but they are still searching for that infant's parents. >> unbelievable. a blessing the baby is still alive. >> tragic. so happy they found that child. we do have an update to the breaking news we have been following new details about a triple shooting in san francisco ahead in a live report. nothing outsmoke shops in the east bay. we are going to tell you where businesses may soon become banned. the dow up better than 100

police gave us an update on the three people shot early this morning near 16th and mission b.a.r.t. station in san francisco. they've also made arrests and

"today in the bay's" bob redell is live at the shooting scene with all these brand new detaili for us. bob, good morning. >> reporter: good morning to you, marla. here at 16th at the b.a.r.t. plaza. within the past 15 minutes, police -- >> we just lost our signal from bob. are we going toqwe get it back? bob, are you there? >> reporter: i am. at 3:50, ten shots were fired outside this plaza. three people were hit, all men. two were hit in the leg. another hit in the torso. two of them have nonlife threatening injuries in the hospital. the third is in critical condition. he has described the injuries as being life threatening. what is interesting is sfpd was on the scene. within a minute, there was a sergeant on patrol around the corner. he responded immediately. within that short amount of time, the suspects were already able to get away. they didn't go far. a short time later in the bayview, at cameron and nichols,

sfpd did find three suspects in that mercedes you should be looking at on your tv screen right p. they arrested those three people and they have also retrieved two guns. they have three suspects in custody. they say they are connected with a shooting. we retrieved two weapons while three people in the hospital with life-threatening injuries. they are not clear what connection the shooters have to the victims. they don't know what the motive. he is turning the gun on himself. an eight-year-old girl called to report gunfire at her home in

it will impact public safety. the idea comes as the community mourns the loss of three people. they were murdered in a four-hour period sunday. two victims are teenage boys. the proposal calls for quickly getting more cops on the streets by having firefighters only respond to fires. the reason, a grand jury report found 70% of fire department calls are not fire related. city councilman, pier luigi alovero, is pushing for the reorganization. at the end, we try to do as best we can in any city, nation or state to prevent homicide. the weekend murders bring the city's om side rate to 19. that's on pace to match last year's total, which was 46,lpñ highest in 20 years. the city of san jose has 33 fire departments and every year, they respond to 74,000 calls for help. reporting live in san jose, marianne favro, "today in the
