players, including a's starter bartolo colon. if you remember, he was suspended for testing positive for testosterone last year. shutout game against the white sox just five days ago at age 40. colon is scheduled to be the starting pitcher again today in milwaukee. another bay area name fans will recognize is melky cabrera, at at&t park last night for the very first time since he was suspended for also testing positive of elevated testosterone levels. yankees star alex rodriguez and 2011 n.l. mvp ryan brawn are also mentioned. fire on a bay area boat led to a shooting and the death of one man. verbal and very physical

argument. fearing for his safety, the officer fired and hit the man, who was in his 40s. he was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. no one else was hurt in this shooting. law enforcement agencies across the bay area need your help to find the man responsible for three brazen bank robberies. this surveillance here to show you featuring one of the men at cathay bank in millbrae yesterday. the trio are connected to another robbery in san francisco yesterday. they are believed to be responsible for a third robbery, wells fargo in irving street in san francisco. in all three robberies, the men jumped behind the teller's counter and then took the money. witnesses in two of those robberies say the suspects took off in a light color older model sedan similar to a ford taurus. palo alto police have

released the sketch of a man who groped a woman on a running trail. here is a look at that sketch. he may also have tattoos on his arms. he was following a woman on a trail in the baylands nature preserve when he jumped on her back and groped her. she fought him off and two bicyclists on the trail scared him off. elementary school is now hiring private security because it doesn't trust san hojose pole to keep its kids safe. cher cherrywood elementary in northeast san jose say they will bring in two security officers to patrol the campus for peace of mind. they called police monday afternoon when a strange man was caught piering and peeping into a classroom window and police told them officers were simply busy answering a higher priority call. janitor ended up driving that man off but later was found in the girls' bathroom.

when school officials called police again, they were told officers would be sent out, but they say police did not show up. san jose police say they called the school and were told they were no longer needed. the school district counters, the police called back after everything was over. >> thought that we could not get support when we needed it. it was very troubling. i'm superintendent. i'm responsible for almost 8,000 kids. their priority is my number one every day. >> we can tell you that man did go back to the school yesterday. this time around, the police showed up and arrested him in a nearby neighborhood. 4:36. two teens charged with killing two other teens in east san jose will face a judge for the first time today. 19-year-old matthew clippard of san jose is one of the suspects. police have already arrested the 17-year-old suspect but have not released his name. the two are accused of shooting

a 15 and 16-year-old late last month. police don't believe the double shooting was gang related. the san francisco baggage handler accused of stealing from checked luggage is expected to enter a plea in court today. 45-year-old george reyes was caught in a police sting last night. united airlines employee stole ipads and purses from passenger luggage. they began investigating him after only 50 passengers reported stolen items. a brutal case of dog abuse in the east bay. animal advocates have teamed up to offer an $18,000 reward for arrest and conviction of a person who dumped a severely abused german shepherd at the animal shelter last week. that dog was so sick, she had to be euthanized. according to open animal services they've received more than 150 calls from all around the world from people wanting to help out. susan g. komen will stop its

walk in some cities, 40% drop in participation over the past few years and now longer is reaching its fund-raising goals. the walks will continue in seven other cities. the decision to end the three-day walk will not affect its well-known race for the cure. that will continue to go on. last three-day walk in san francisco is scheduled two weeks from this friday. special election to replace disgraced senator appears to be heading for a run-off. cindy chavez is the front-runner with 41% of the votes. theresa alvarado is second with 31%. however, noeither of them received the required 50% of the vote. voters will now return to the polls july 30th for a run-off election between chavez and alvarado.

hercules passed a measure, 71% to 29%. utility user tax on gas, electricity and water up from 6 to 8%. city officials say it will raise about $1 million per year for that general fund. it will also allow the city to keep its police force at its current staffing level. they will discuss the results at a meeting later on tonight. good morning to you. it is 4:39. man, it's early. >> it really is. that's why i'm having that java. let's get a look at the forecast with christina loren. very comfortable outside. we're in for a warm-up, huh? >> indeed, we are. good morning to you, jon and marla. good morning to you at home. you've made it to wednesday. you're already off to a better start than you were just a couple of days. temperatures are going to warm up. we've got plenty of low cloud cover out there to start the day. i can tell you right now it's not dropping to the surface just yet. here is what we're working with

this morning. three miles of visibility or better across the bay area. as we get into this afternoon, your temperatures are going to climb. it is going to be a comfortable day. i mean downright nice, considering june in the bay area can be very, very warm. 73 at noon. that's it today. in places like livermore, you'll be up 71 at concord. green shading on your concord map tells that story. plenty of low cloud cover most of the day right at the coast, keeping your temperature at 58 degrees in san francisco at noon. make sure you bring that jacket with you. even in the heat of the day, we'll only climb to about 61 degrees there. 75 for san hojose and 78 in gilroy. i've got your full forecast. i'll let you know exactly how hot it's going to get where you live and how long it's going to last. maybe longer than you might like. 4:40. let's check that drive. >> sometimes the drive lasts longer than people like. 880 southbound with those headlights, easy drive toward

as campus two. before they're set to release the environmental report, it leaked this information. the campus is expected to add 7,400 full-time jobs and bring another $2.1 billion per year to businesses in cupertino, santa clara and sunnyvalley. the study says cupertino would receive almost $4 million per year in taxes. apple hopes to complete campus two by 2016. the report sounds nice. the l.a. times points out there is a flaw in this plan. even campus two won't be large enough to hold all of apple's employees. if they hire 7,400 workers by the time campus two is open for business, they will have more than 23,000 local workers. campus two only holds about 14,000 employees and the infinite loop holds 6,000

employees. when they posed the question to apple, the company declined to comment. apple and samsung, bad news for apple. courtney regan live at cnbc headquarters has a look at that and how futures are trading. courtney, good to see you. >> hi. good morning to you, jon. futures are relatively flat after stocks fell tuesday, with the dow snapping its streak of tuesday games of 20 weeks. jobs report and what it could mean for future policy. job growth, productivity, and factory orders. dow fell yesterday to 16,177. the international trade commission rules in favor of samsung and long-running patent fight with apple. the agency says apple infringed on iphones and ipads. iphone 3gs, ipad 2 made in china sold by at&t.

temperatures stay steady today and then we soar. i don't want it to catch you offguard. 61 in sunnyvalley. good morning down there. gilroy, temperatures are nice and mild across the board this morning. it's that nice, mild start that will keep us warm in cities that won't hit the upper 50s to low 60s until probably 3:00 or 4:00. that's happening today in san francisco. right now winds are still out of the west. that's a good sign we're going to see that beautiful ocean air transported all the way inland yet again for today. a gorgeous day shaping up. what happens is the low clouds are clear all the way inland. they kind of hug the coastline. we get that westerly flow, beautiful breeze that picked up yesterday afternoon. that would be the case for them again today. and ocean air is transported to some of the cities that will be downright hot once we lose that natural ac starting on thursday. high pressure builds in quickly. like i said before, friday and saturday will be the peak days of this heat wave.

county. nbc news has not independently verified this report. as you can see in this video, fbi agents walking out of calderone's office at the state capital with a lot of boks and files. no word yet on what they may be looking for. we do know they were in that office for several hours. calderone was not there during that search. he is a democrat from montebello. he was elected to his very first term in 2006 and currently chairs several committees, including the influential state insurance committee. growing outrage this morning in the bay area over a massive shark that was killed off the southern california coast. take a look. this 1,300-pound shark was reeled in by sport fishermen near huntington beach during the taping of a reality show for the outdoor channel. >> that thing is a monster. >> but a group called shark steward said the shark did not have to die and could have been released back out in the ocean. they must live about 16 years

well, from books to clothes, computers and even a kitchen sink, i guess, if you're looking for one, it's all available on amazon. now the online giant is looking to bring you your groceries. amazon may be expanding its ecommerce empire to grocery services. amazon fresh may roll out its services to los angeles as early as this week, and possibly to bay area later on this year. the internet retail giant has already been delivering fresh produce, testing things out in its hometown of seattle. >> former raider and number one overall pick jemarcus russell soon could be out on the field, one of four free agent

quarterbacks working out for the chicago bears on friday. this is according to espn. no word yet if the bears are serious about signing russell. he has dropped about 50 pounds to get back into game shape and working with former 49ers quarterback jeff garcia. that's a name we haven't hrd in a while. russell was released by the raiders in 2010 and hasn't played for a pro team since. >> considered one of the biggest busts in nfl history. hopefully, second time around, lost weight, feeling like a champ. let's check in with mike inouye. >> a chance for me to get back in the game as well. nintendo. truck has arrived to hitch up that sign that's here. we don't usually see this on the south side of the bridge. there you go. just behind that pole they're hooking up that sign. going to get that out from the bridge. those lanes will be open in time for the morning commute. giants game 12:45 versus the jays. that will cause midday traffic around the ballpark. after the game, that will be into the evening commute likely.
