garcia-cannon. i'm jon kelley. good friday morning, everybody. we can tell you, major supermarket chain, raillies, warning companies to be on the lookout for possible suspicious bank or credit card charges. the store officials think the stores may have been targeted by hackers. "today in the bay's" christie smith is live in fremont with more details on the cyberattack investigation. kristy, good morning. good morning and happy friday. raley's supermarket is saying it was a credit card company that came forward and notified them about suspicious activity that was outside of the normal transaction process. they think their customer information is safe. they do have a couple of recommendations this morning that shoppers should double-check their personal accounts and, of course, report anything suspicious. this is because the grocery store may have been the target of what they are calling a complex criminal cyberattack. raley's says it hasn't confirmed any unauthorized access to

payment card data and doesn't believe deb bit pin numbers were accessed. they don't collect social security numbers or driver's license numbers. they have 128 stores in northern california and nevada. this includes bel-air markets, nob hill and also food source. they are suggesting that card customers monitor bank and credit card statements for any unauthorized charges or activity. of course, contact your bank or credit card company if you see any unusual activities. raley's has put together a response team. 1-800-925-9989. they are ready to answer any questions you have from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. they are investigating. they are confident right now that you can use your card safely in any of their stores. reporting live in fremont, christie smith, "today in the bay." >> okay, christie, i'll get

information a mountain view burglary suspect is in jail thanks to a homeowner that lives near mercy street at eagle park reported seeing him trying to break into his homeowner. rando was booked on suspicious of burglary and carrying drug paraphernalia some residents being warned of a mountain lion sighting. spopd near edgewood county park just outside of redwood city. county emergency officials advising people, be wise and do not approach any mountain lions. if you happen to accidentally encounter a mountain lion, experts say, try to make some noise and appear large and threatening. throw rocks or anything you can grab at it. >> they are trying to get near the water so it is going to be so warm out there.

injuries reported. that will be an issue if you are headed over towards interstate 80 from spots east of there and we will check the south bay. san jose, 101 moves smoothly. the president is in town. there will be some closures right around the caesar chavez area. watch the one block area around there, the perimeter. back to you guys. mr. obama's visit to the bay area ends in a few hours from right now. before taking off, he will give a speech about his obama care program. "today in the bay's" marianne favro is live in the bay. >> good morning, marianne. >> i can tell you security is extremely tight in downtown san jose. many road closure surrounding the fairmont hotel where the president will be talking about what the affordable care act will mean to all americans. california is already doing to implement the law. the plan takes effect january 1st. under it, you can't be denied coverage based on pre-existing

conditions. you are mandated to buy insurance even if you are currently healthy and subsidies will be offered to low income clients. this rng month, president obama is expected to highlight efforts to make sure latinos are enrolled in the plan in california and encourage them to sign up for a plan that best meets their needs. overall, the affordable care act is going to provide 10.2 million uninsured latino americans across the country an opportunity to get affordable health insurance coverage. the president is also going to talk about new evidence that when insurers and providers compete for business insurers win. more insurance providers are offering coverage in the individual market. many critics here, that affordable care act is going to actually hurt medical care and make it more costly for some people. that's what critics are saying this morning. california will operate the plan. starting october 1st. you will be able to sign up for a plan that will go into effect

january 1st. you will have 13 different options to choose from. reporting live in san jose, where the president is expected to talk in just a few hours, marianne favro, nbc bay area news the press certainident cert a busy day in california. after this morning's speech, he will depart from moffett field and attend another fund-raiser in santa monica and head to an exclusive estate to meet with china's new president. >> not everyone giving the president a warm bay area welcome. >> hundreds of protesters yesterday standing on street corners as his motorcade arrived. they urged the president not to approve the keystone project, an oil pipeline that will stretch from canada to the gulf of mexico. the protesters worried about the

it is is a doughnut stuffed with trois gra moose. they are creating them right now, giving them away for free in mon honor of national doughnut day. some consider the production inhumane, because it comes from the fatty liver of a duck or goose force-fed. most of the negative reaction has been on psycho donuts facebook page. people saying they won't eat here again because they are disgusted by this creation calling it cruelty to animals. the chef tells us they believe the comments are not from customers but from animal rights extremists trying to rile up people. as for the threats i mentioned, he tells us they received about 20. some online and some via e-mail. threatening harm. the doughnut shop is taking them seriously enough they are giving campbell police enough. >> some say they should drag me out and stuff a tube down my throat and force me to death. let's be nice to animals and

list of lawsuits was filed late last night. that lawsuit seeking financial damages on behalf of a woman who survived being buried in that rubble. her attorney says the demolition contractor violated numerous federal safety rules. the city is now inspecting hundreds of demolition sights and a criminal investigation could be on its way. the four story building collapsed right on to a thrift shop wednesday morning ultimately killing six people and trapping several others. it is 5:21. coming up. the big money theft that has beauty salons worried.

welcome back. an arizona sheriff who led the way for police to take up immigration reforcement is reconsidering his shakedown.

he is suspending his efforts after a federal judge ruled the sheriff's office had racially profiled latinos during its patrols. that decision came last month and is expected to impact state immigration laws where local officers question people's immigration status in certain instances that massive wild fire burning down in southern california is so big it can literally be seen from outer space. we have a satellite image from nasa. you can see the smoke from the so-called powerhouse fire which has destroyed now some 24 homes and nearly 30 other structures. so far, the fire has charred nearly 50 square miles and crews say right now it is about 83% contained, full containment is expected to come sometime next week. that fire that broke out last thursday, still no confirmation of exactly what caused it. a sfepecial meeting taking place later on for the bay area vietnamese community.

david shear and congresswoman zoe lofgren and david cortese will be attending. they will focus on human rights issues. the meeting will be held at the board of supervisors chambers in san jose. leaders in the smart phone industry will meet in new york to address the growing issue of smart phone fast. we have learned representatives from apple, google and samsung will meet with top law enforcement officials. san francisco district attorney, and new york's d.a. on thursday. gasgon says he plans to develop a new technology like a kill switch that would make a smart phone useless if reported stolen. one out of three robberies nationwide involving a cell phone when the economy crashed, copper became a hot commodity. one new hot commodity, human

later on but the former county clara supervisor will be arraigned on a brand new charge, specifically felony emper son nation. they have information linking him to information meant to discredit a city council candidate. he is being punished today for using campaign funds to fuel a gambling addiction, something he pleaded guilty to march. he took that plea in exchange for leniency. his punishment will likely be supervised probation get ready for triple digit temperatures depending on where you live. >> let's get jon a misty. i always wish i could get to that point where i say, fetch me a misty mate. >> beautiful start to the day here in the bay area, 55

degrees. right now, 75 in palm springs where you will be headed later on. they are going to see highs close to 107 today. mr. president, of course, as mike said, we thank you for choosing us. make sure you are ready for that heat down south. it is going to be a scorcher. for us, we are really not going to see any exception in the extreme east bay and south bay. temperatures are nice. these are the coolest temps you are going to get all day long. seize the moment if you can. if you can see, our winds are turning east/southeasterly. that's an offshore flow. as those winds wrap around that big rig of high pressure. it negates our marine influence. it is that marine influence that rolls in the fog that keeps temperatures nice and cool in the bay area. typically, in the summer months, we see a lot of june gloom. that keeps us cool in the afternoon. as a result, temperatures are going to be very warm. 97 for livermore, 95 in concord and 74 in san francisco. you know if we are talking about 80s in santa cruz. it is going to be a great day at

the beach. even better for tomorrow, we will take you through that forecast and on sunday, temperatures tumble and we bring in some showers. i'll show you where you might need to pull out your umbrella on sunday. major changes headed our way. 5:38. sharp turns in the weather department. let's find out what's going on in the traffic department. we are hoping this doesn't cause a major change. there is an incident on the bay bridge. we know we have the s-curve that's relatively gentle. the bay bridge toll plaza shows a minor backup. the reason i'm concerned, there is a report of a stalled-out vehicle in your slow lane as you are passing along the canty lever section. no update yet. report of a disabled vehicle around fremont street. look at the maps. a smooth drive across the sfan. a little slowing up the incline. pretty typical about this time of day. again, month metering lights and no problems down the eastshore freeway. we have this earlier car fire and a crash. also, a bunch of metal poles

tracie potts live on capitol hill. good morning we now know the new unemployment rate for the nation is 7.6%. that's up ever so lightly from last month's 7.5%. more jobs were created, 175,000 on balance when you consider the federal government jobs that were lost. what does all of this en. >>. what does all of this mean. it means we are essentially on far last month. a few more jobs created. a little bit shy of what economists are comfortable with in terms of job growth. what this also means is that the government, in particular, the obama administration, still has a bit of a p.r. challenge when it comes to convincing the country and the folks on capitol hill that the economy is growing at a pretty good rate. looking at the revisions from the two months before, typically, this he go back two months every time we get this report to see if anything

changed. there was a net drop in the last two months of 12,000. 12,000 nor jobs that they had counted that actually were not created. that's not a good thing. however, overall, this isn't a bad report. it is not a good report. it essentially means we are pretty much on par with where we are a month ago. a neutral report. >> tracy, thanks soefr much. >> a lot of people celebrating national doughnut day. this day is getting dangerous locally. dam bell police investigating threats of violence against the chief or a chef at a local doughnut shop over a controversial promotion.
