a second ago, the cones are still in line for the overnight. we'll have those folks in place about the next 20 minutes. we'll see flashing lights heading north across the bridge. right now the southbound side approaching that as well. that was confusing. anyway, construction out of marin county, you'll see the cones and flashing lights. >> a lot of hours to ooh clear it up. a heated santa clara unified school district wrapping up just a few hours ago, the angry parents demanding the resignation of four members. the parents presented a know-confidence position that includes more than 2000 signatures claiming the use of intimidation and micromanaging has led to more than a dozen principals and other administrators to leave the district. >> it is unbelievably bad. you only have to sit in one meeting and understand the agenda of these four board members is just outrageous. >> one of the board members

asked to resign claims he and the other board members were elected to make the changes in the district such as improving student pro fish see. >> later this morning, los gatos will post its final version of a new gun ordinance for firearm dealers. the ordinance will require all shops to apply for a permit and attend an annual meeting to renew the permit. the town will hold a meeting on monday to talk about the ordinance. the reason opening of templar sports which currently sells firearms in los gatos sparked that debate. the company's facebook fan page says the ordinance would possibly prevent it from selling guns in the future. >> vice president dr. joe biden and his wife jill biden getting ready to head to the bay area today. they will fly into camp pendleton visiting families who have lost members in the military. then they'll attend a fund-raiser at the democratic

national committee at the ceo of ben wise. the visit coming one week after president obama stopped by in the bay area visiting for fund-raisers and his speech on the affordable care act. last week's fund-raiser in palo alto, protesters greeting the president and it is expected it will be no different for vice president biden today. groups are planning a demonstration near tonight's event, calling on the vice president to oppose the keystone xl pipeline. that is a project that would take oil south across the u.s. down to the gulf course. 4:34 this morning. an elderly woman recovering after being hit by a koor in cupertino. it happened in the parking lot of the home stead square shopping center at the corner of homestead road and sunnyvale saratoga road. sheriff's deputies say an 18-year-old woman was backing up in front of michael's when she

hit the elderly woman. the woman was taken to the hospital but is expected to be okay. police in the quiet town of hillsborough on the lookout for a would-be burglar. police say a woman was inside her home on summit drive near bella vista drive when she heard noises coming from the back door. this happened sunday afternoon. that woman says she saw a man who resembles this sketch trying to break into her house. the man reportedly took off when he saw the woman inside. police now telling us he was wearing a white real madrid soccer jersey with the letters b-w-i-n on the front in purple letters. a man accused of stealing a yacht and running it aground is judged to be fit for trial. prosecutors say he stole the $2.7 million yacht "darling" in march bringing a couple on board with him. that yacht ran aground.

his defense team says he's delusional and believed the yacht was his. he remains on jail on more than $1 million bail. we have a follow dup this morning, some of the alleged members of the nuestra familiar mill yeah gang will be in court. they made their first court appearances yesterday to face charges for a variety of crimes, many of them pleading guilty to lesser charges. the defendants, all part of the largest gang bust in santa clara county history. we also have a followup to a story our investigative unit broke. a santa fe professor no longer works at the university. school leaders will not see if jeffrey mathis resigned or if he was terminated. the female student says mathis made unwanted advances during a late-night visit to his office. mathis counters saying it was consensual. 4:36 right now. family and friends will remember

one of the last survivors of the san francisco earth quick. winnie hook passed away on tuesday. she was 107 years old. she was a character. this is a photo from a dinner in 2012 honoring the survivors, a memorial lunch will be held today in hook's honor at john's grill in san francisco. her passing leaves just two remaining survivors of the quake, 107-year-old william dellmunth and 111-year-old ruth newman. >> happy long lives. protesters say they will be back. some of the people who occupied a farm on octavia street in san francisco say they plan to take the land back tonight. they'll be meeting up at 6:00 to try to retake that lot. yesterday morning we showed you some of the protester literally being pulled out of trees by police and forced to leave. they are upset over proposed development set for that lot. 4:37. california lawmakers will vote today on the state's new budget.

if approved as is, it will give a lot of financial help to middle class students hoping to go to a state college. the bill includes a middle class scholarship program fully implemented by the fall of 2017. it would offer tuition discounts to students attending uc and csu campuses. family with an income of up to $100,000 would receive a 40% discount. up to $125,000 would receive a 25% discount. if you make up to $150,000, you'd see about a 10% discount. it is 4:38 right now. hoping you could help me out. what day is today again? >> you heard me. you feel it. it's friday. >> ah, yes. christina loren, it looks like it's going to be beautiful. >> it really is. school is out for summer for a lot of kids at this point. we don't officially kickoff summer until the 21st of this month. this morning and this afternoon as well, we're getting summer-like readings, at 57 degrees, for instance, in san jose. you might have had to keep your

reflectors on 880 through san jose. looking to the peninsula as well. a smooth flow of traffic. you see 92 toward the top of the screen, that's eastbound. a little slower sensor read, that's down below 60 like 59. not a big concern across the bridge. that's a smooth drive right now. we'll look at foster city and show the volume of traffic through the area. the taillights would be the section where you saw the slowing. this is not the problem as far as the flow goes. there on the east bay we see oakland 880 farther north move smoothly and no construction blocked over at the coliseum. you'll have a smooth drive through downtown through the bay bridge toll plaza. we'll talk about the activities farther north. an update on the crash in the north bay coming up. it is 4:40 right now. we have a shocking discovery in northern california, multiple bodies found in the trunk of a burned out car. we'll have the details next. new details after a deck collapses at a popular miami sports bar during last night's nba finals. dozens are sent plunging into the water below.

are trading. >> good morning. the futures are trading high they are morning after stocks rallied on thursday closing near the highs of the day as fears over the fed pulling the plug on its stimulus program started to ease. the s&p 500 index, that's the broadest measure of the market. it had its second best day of the year. meantime today we get data on consumer prices, manufacturing and consumer sent me. the dow closed yesterday at 15,176. the nasdaq closed at 3,445. a new lawsuit claims the song "happy birthday to you" should belong to everyone. it's been asked to force warner chapel music to return millions in licensing fees it's collected for reproductions and public performances. it was first published by patty and mildred hill in 1893. warner chapel claims it got the copy write when it bought birch tree in 1998.

you know what dad wants this year? he wants your attention. if you want to give him some of your quality time, take him outdoors. it's going to be really, really nice this year. temperatures are in the 50s. we're in the 40s in gilroy. 49 there, 49 to start the day in santa cruz. area of low pressure keeping the onshore flow in place. high pressure at its strongest today. today will be the warmest of the week. more 70s at the coast and we're going to see close to 90 degrees, not quite 90 degrees inland today. highs work out like this. 89 in fairfield, 88 in livermore, 82 for fremont and san jose. 83 degrees on the way in redwood city. look at san francisco, santa cruz, 75 degrees there, san francisco 70 degrees there. getting into the end of this week into the weekend, temperatures will change. we'll drop you right back off to where we ended up yesterday. if you liked yesterday, more of that headed our way saturday,

sunday and monday. tuesday into thursday of next week, temperatures will stay mostly steady. then we really start to climb as we head through the end of next week. it's actually rather timely this time because summer does arrive next week. we'll have the full forecast for all the dads and grads, show you what's happening around the day for dads like jon, over to you. >> thank you very much. serious business to tell you about on the international scene. president obama getting ready to arm rebels over in syria. the white house says it's received conclusive evidence syrian president bashar al assad using chemical weapons against opposition forces trying to overthrow him there. this morning a russian lawmaker telling reuters those reports are made up. according to the united nations, it's been a blood bath over there. nearly 93,000 syrians have been killed since the conflict started back in march of 2011. in the meantime, the u.s. government is still looking for the man who says he blew the whistle on the nsa's surveillance program. edward snowden is in hong kong

though he's in hiding. the chinese government has not said if it will expedite him if he is caught. this morning a newspaper backed by the communist party is urging china to allow snowden to stay, citing his recent revelations about the american surveillance program against china. the nsa says they have 61,000 hacking targets worldwide including hundreds in hong kong and china. the british government is saying not to aloe snowden not to board flights headed for the united kingdom. he's highly likely to be refused entry into the uk. no word if other allies of the u.s. have issued similar alerts. a few hours from now people in knewtown, connecticut, pausing to remember the victims of the sandy hook elementary school shooting torques day marking six months since that deadly tragedy. a moment of silence will be

observed and church bells will ring at 6:30 pacific standard time honoring the 26 victims. a community interfaith service will be held later tonight. family members of some of the victims were in washington, d.c. this week meeting with members of congress and holding a vigil for the victims. it is 4:50. sheriff's deputies are investigating a griz li discovery this morning. firefighters were called to a vehicle fire yesterday about 25 miles northwest of chico. when they put out the flames they found more than one body inside the trunk. it's not exactly clear how many botd difficults were found or how they got there. happening right now, another fire to tell you about. crews in colorado looking to take advantage of better weather today as they battle the largest wildfire in state history. it's been such a rough go out there. this morning two people are dead, about 380 homes destroyed. 40,000 people have been forced from their homes near colorado

springs. this so-called black forest fire has charred nearly 16,000 acres and now only about 5% contained this morning. this one is the worst of four wildfires burning all across colorado right now. we can tell you at least 24 people recovering in miami this morning after a deck at a water side sports bar collapsed there while they were watching the nba finals last night, caught everybody off guard. officials say about 100 people were on that deck when it gave way below their feet. several people fell right into the water, some taken away in ambulances. two of the people reportedly right now listed in critical condition. the cause of this collapse remains under investigation. >> pretty frightening. 4:51 right now. smiling in the face of adversity. the courageous young boy who returned to the spotlight during last night's spur's game despite harsh criticism from twitter users. we have new hints that michael phelps might plan to be
