possible b.a.r.t. strike. >> good morning to you. whether you're a regular b.a.r.t. rider or not, a strike would affect you because the freeways, buses, other ways to get around would be absolutely packed. this morning b.a.r.t. riders are going to be getting this. this is what union workers will be handing out at stations this morning, basically ex-plachk that the b.a.r.t. workers' contract expires in ten days. union leaders say they don't want to strike and workers are pushing for better safety measures and staffing. the bottom line is thousands of riders rely on b.a.r.t. to get to work each day. the two largest unions have authorized a strike vote for the 25th. riders want an agreement so they're not stuck in gridlock. transportation planners have an issue, too. america's cup racing starts in july and b.a.r.t. is part of the plan to get spectators to the competition not using their cars. one b.a.r.t. rider who goes from fremont to san francisco each day says both sides really need

out the truth about the potential announcement that facebook is set to announce a new video sharing service. as you just mentioned, all the tech experts including our own scott mcgrew says it would be offered through instagram which scott mentioned facebook bought last year for $1 billion. instagram not doing bad at all these days with more than 100 million users. if you don't know, instagram is a photo sharing app that allows users the option of posting their photos to facebook. the thought is instagram will allow users to create short videos and if you so choose, post those to your facebook page. here is the thing, though, you can already post videos to facebook, just not instagram videos. what does this mean for your page? simply put, facebook walls will likely be covered with more videos. it is as simple as that. the thought is facebook is trying to catch up to twitter and its vine service which
5:34 am
allows folks to post six-second clips to twitter. the video sharing option may come with video filters and perhaps a longer recording time, longer than that six seconds that vine allows. back here live at facebook headquarters, a little bit of a different -- a step-up because the thumbs up is no longer in front of the facebook headquarters. it's covered with a single sentence that says "a small team has been working on a big idea." i'm not sure how long this has been out there. perhaps it's alluding to the big 10:00 announcement. scott? >> if you're not familiar with it, vine really invented the short format video. it was purchased by facebook's competitor twitter last fall. here you see somebody who made a vine animation. each video limited to six seconds. that's kind of arbitrary it seems. but, in fact, actually allows you to use the service, watch the videos on mobile without

5:36 am
stations handing out flyers explaining that their contract expires in ten days. for riders they would be caught in the middle if this were to grow into a strike. union leaders say they don't want to walk off the job, but their flier says they're pushing for safer working conditions and fair pay. the riders we're speaking with this morning tell us they're not following the details of this work dispute. they just know that thousands of bay area commuters rely on b.a.r.t. each day. they don't want to be caught in the gridlock on bay area freeways or alternative forms of transportation. another hitch? america's cup racing starts in july and san francisco is where it's happening. b.a.r.t. is part of the plan to move the crowds without them being in their cars. this morning riders just asking both sides to come up with a quick solution. >> the road to san francisco, oakland, it affects a lot of people. i hope it doesn't happen. we need the b.a.r.t. system.
