thanks for joining us. i'm chris sanchez along with meteorologist rob mie net that. we usually don't see them that low. >> it's a sign that the marine lawyer is compressing them down. we're going to see a warm up today inland. the this morning we've got come clearing about santa rosa dropping to 43 degrees, 56 and mostly clear in san jose. the sea breeze not quite as strong, in fairfield yesterday it was close to 25 mile-per-hour. what we're going to get today, sfrab out to coast, not must change for you. inland you see the sunshine, especially the tri-valley area south of san jose today. 80s to a few low 90s inland. and 65 san francisco, 72 in oakland and a little bit of a cool down coming nup the seven-day forecast. we'll a look at that later. we'll start with a

developing story in the south bay where the police are looking for a support in the 27th merchandise. the city happened near the corner of state and archer street. police say a man who appeared to be in his 30s was talking with someone on the sidewalk when he was shot just before 10:00 last night. he was pronounced dead at the hospital. police say witnesses heard multiple gun shots but there are no suspects and no motive in this case. it's the 2nd homicide this week. in san francisco the investigation continues today into why a gunman opened fire inside a jewelry matter in san francisco killing two women and nearly killing a man who is now fighting for his life. >> a suspect is rining, east 38. might be a 221, black male, white shirt. >> okay. suspect running. >> fire. >> shots fired. >> that's the police dispatch that shows how quickly officers found themselves in the line of

fire after coming face to face with the armed man who was covered in blood. the shooting happened inside the victoga jewelry store. tod . >> after a day of shopping inside the san francisco gift center in jewelry matter turns to chaos. >> four or five shots and people running down the hallway. >> a gaun man started shooting inside a gold star called victoga. >> they're yelling at us to get back. i was in a bridal shop. i had a wedding dress on and we moved all the wedding dresses out of the way and then we all went into the alterations room. >> they were yelling at her because a man had killed two women and wounded another man. she shot one woman to death, stabbed another woman to death

and shot and stabbed a man inside the door. the last victim is fight for his life at fran general hospital. moments later three officer es encountered the bladly gunman out on the street and he fired at police. >> if suspect is shooting at them. >> i heard one loud shot close to me. >> mimi right was outside at a food truck when he heard the gun fire and saw armed police officers swarming if area. >> i just, i ran very quickly and then hid in one of the stores there. >> while she hid, officers chased the gunman to a taco rya where he again fired at police. the police did not fire back worried that too many people nearby could get hit. the suspect's shots didn't hit anyone and police say he dropped his gun and surrendered when he ran out of bullets. >> code four. code four. >> even after the suspect was arrested police kept the area locked down believing another gunman might still be inside the

jewelry matter. the s.w.a.t. team searched every room. it was scary but organized. they knew what we were doing. >> police say when the video evidence revealed there was only one gunman twb the search was called off and the investigation began. >> that was jean ellely reporting. police say the suspect has been inside the jewelry store because and that is significant because it's not easy to get in. the suspect had to make and appointment and show his id. the zbift center and jewelry matter has more than 125 showrooms but not set up like a mall. clients have to make an appointment and be cleared but security. the victoga store has been in business for more than 26 years. here's layout of the bottom floor of the jewelry matter where victoga is located away fra the elevator and stairs.

>> now to the latest on the flight crash. the flights are now taking off and landing at run way 28 this morning exactly one week after the deadly crash that claimed the lives of three teenage girls. the run way officially reopened just after 5:00 last night. they spent two days clear debris. shortly after, more tragic news. another chinese teenager died of her injuries at san francisco general hospital. >> she died of her injuries. it is a pediatric patient who has been in our intensive care unit since the time of her crash. >> the two other girl, 16-year-old chinese students who were coming to u.s. for summer camp also died in the crash. san francisco's police chef greg suhr confirmed that one of the girls was run over by a fire truck that was responding to the scene moments after the plane went down. >> it did go over the victim, that's the fact.

. this morning the father of a misting 21 month old oakland girl is making a tearful plea asking for someone, anyone to help him find his little girl. >> i still believe she's alive. i'm not going to say my daughter is dead. >> john web made that add plea just hours after he walk out of the jail. the alameda district attorney's office decided not to file charge of child endangerment against. he left the little girl with his mother who suffers with dementia

. and this is a live look from aquadic park and some of ships out there in the distance, some of the more modern ships who are competing to see some action in america's cup. this morning the police are trying to track down the people who made a sex tape on a moving train. it shows grain any images of the cup's faces. the windows are dark suggesting that the train was in a tunnel at the time it was shot. the couple appears to any they were being filmed. b.a.r.t. says it plans to charge the people with being involved in a lewd contact which is a misdemeanor. >> it's not considered a serious violent offense but it's something we take seriously.

he had a little more clearing this morning. we're not seeing temperatures all that cool this morning. we still have the marine layer pushing inhand but the wind not as strong as 24 hours ago and these one of the reasons the temperatures are going to be wrm warmer inland. the a's are hosting the red socks and temperatures in the 60s for the game. pretty nice but sweatshirt weather out there for the game. to the south in sand jay go, you're going to see the giants taking on the padres. we're going to see the sea breeze pick up and temperatures dropping into the 60s as the game goes on. not a lot to talk about in the weather here. we've locked into our summer climate. keeping the low clouds entrenched on the coastline today. that's why we'll see 60s at the sea shore and then as we head towards the evening the low clouds starting to fill back in

across the bay. temperatures in the 80s close to san jose and south of downtown maybe close to 90 degree. it will be the inland valley that will have a chance to get close to the low 90s inland, so nol, pleasanton, liver moob were fairly warm until about 4 clock. enough of a delta breeze here to keep temperatures up toward so land no county in the upper 80s. so some of the warmest temperatures we'll find from pleasant to south. to the north bay, 70s an 80s in santa rosa, 65 in san francisco and some low 70s today around oakland. so the three-day forecast, not much change into tomorrow and then right now what you saw this morning is the marine layer squished down it wes going the expand on monday morning. we may see some drizzle along with the cooling on monday morning. you can see the inland temperatures getting into the

cruise pattern of 80s inland and later on in the week ahead may see some warming as we get towards next weekend. but for now the warmest days just in time for the weekend. >> i step in it, you dig me out. thanks, rob. some of the illegal marijuana for sale on bay area streets is grown on public land closer than you might think. the grofs are kropg up in state parks with hikers have a very good chance of stumbling into a dangerous situation with dangerous people and a toxic environment and now law enforcement is fighting back. this is the first load of 10,000 marijuana plants the santa clara sheriff's department has. before they hauled the plants out, 40 sheriff's deputies hiked in for hours to get to the illegal grow that was larger than they expected.

marijuana glow. >> the santa clara sheriff's department has arrested 19 people at illegal marijuana growth this year. today the growers got away but the sheriff expects they will be back and so will her department to protect the park and the citizens who use it. >> people are armed. there's a huge value in the product we're taking out. >> despite the danger of going into the illegal pot growths, all of the deputies did make it out safely this week, though one deputy was treated for heat exhaustion. still ahead we investigate claims about a screening test offered at bay area clinics. some say it can find breast cancer before mammograms but

. one in eight women will be diagnosed in their lifetime with breast cancer and it is a scary

statistic so clearly early detection is something that a lot of women are looking for but are women getting the best information about the tools they can use to detect the cancer. some say it's thermog fi, a screening test that uses infrared light but not everyone agrees. vickie nguyen explains. >> the images look impressive, a rain bow picture of your chest where each color represents a different temperature zone. it's a therm gram. we used our hidden cameras to find out what some technicians are telling women about thermog fi. >> it's very accurate and it also has the ability to detect the changes that we're looking for many years before that mass would ever be large enough to be detected on a mammogram. >> they've approved these as a

test women can use in addition to mammograms but not as a stand alone test to screen for breast cancer. still that hasn't kept some clinics in the bay area from making exaggerated claims about what it can do. >> it doesn't equally as well or better than mammogram. >> she believed similar claims from a san francisco clinic. >> 90% accurate for for me it was just catastrophic. she says she was worried about the radiation from mammograms so she turned to thermog fi. >> where is your answerer. >> in my left breast. i have nothing in my breast. >> she showed us the therm gram of our breast. the results didn't indicate any problems in her left breast but when he felt a lump she underwent a mammogram. he learned she had stage three cancer. >> the diagnosis is wrong if she had fully tresed and done in else she probably would have

died. >> he left college to help care for his mom. >> it's very painful hard experience to go through. >> i'm really angry that i have to go through this. i mean, it could have killed me. >> remember the walnut creek clinic where we were told this? >> it does equally as well or better than a mammogram. >> doctor lin runs that clinic. does it provide a false sense of security for women? >> no more than any other test and far less. >> his clink charges $180 for a therm gram and does 12 a week. >> believe this is more accurate than mammogram and can find cancer before a mammogram? >> that's correct. >> the fda has no evidence to support these claims. >> well the fda lies all the time. they are basically corrupt. >> the technology has been around since the '60s but the doctor says there's no stand

. now to an nbc bay area fup story. the fight is not over. opponents of same-sex marriage in california are once again petitioning the courts. the group that sponsored the state's ban on same-sex behind the new lawsuits demanding california clerks not issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples, protect marriage says that the u.s. supreme court did not rule on the constitutionality of prop 8 in its ruling last month and ruled that protect marriage as no legal standing. now since the group never addressed the merits of the proposition then the ban is valid. camilla harris filed a brief

. and good saturday morning to you. a strew from san bruno mountain. you can see above the low clouds this morning. the tops of the clouds sitting closer to about 1400 feet this morning. that's down from about 2,000 yesterday. so a little compression of the marine layer. we'll see the inland valleys warming up a few more degrees

this afternoon. our temperatures this morning ranging from the 40s in parts of the north bay and some 50s around san francisco right now, 56 san jose, 48 in santa rosa, 56 in napa. notice the wind speed. it's still onshore just not as strong as yesterday. not much wind at all out near livermore. and still a southeast breeze in liv san jose. game time in oakland, we watch the temperatures in the 60s just after 7:00. breezy at times out at the ballpark. you'll see the game down in san diego between your giants taking on the pad rays close to 0 and then cooling as the sea breeze there across the harbor in san die diego. statewide not a lot happening. for the most part right now off to the east but perhaps around

yosemite. for areas around the coast it looks fairly gloomy but we'll get a little sun around santa cruz and temperatures warming up a few degrees. tonight the fog starts to fill in once again and spill back in inland this time tomorrow morning. we'll probably get closer to 90 degree temperatures around morgan hill and south san jose for the afternoon an a very good chance of hitting the hottest temperatures in the bay today around sunol over towards pleasanton and danville and fairfield seeing temperatures in the mid to upper 80s. still 65 cool degrees in san francisco and about 72 in oakland. not much change into tomorrow. maybe a little cooler and then
