he's in for christina. >> waking up to some low clouds, temperatures currently in the mid-50s outside. 59 degrees, san jose 52 and san francisco for the afternoon. it's going to be cooler than what we saw for the weekend, 72 for san jose, 52 for oakland. >> we're definitely checking our live cameras. i'll sweep them across the morning and warn you of anything, especially if cpsp passes anything to us. 680 no problem, and you can see ground weather throughout the south bay. there is no big deal as far as that whole area, but we do watch 280 at 17. over the last few minutes i saw a slowing and then clear again. there is construction in both directions at 280. in fact, south 280 to south 17, that connector may still be closed. we'll watch as equipment moves. back to you. across the country, people

this morning are reacting to the verdict in the george zimmerman murder trial. the jury in sanford, florida handed down a not guilty verdict over the weekend. zimmerman was charged with shooting and killing 17-year-old trayvon martin last year in a case that sparked debates about race. zimmerman said the shooting was in self-defense. the verdict prompted protests nationwide including several here in the bay area. in oakland, demonstrators rallied late into the night. authorities had to move in as tempers flared and someone burned an american flag. >> it could be anybody, that's all. it could be anybody. i'm not speaking just african-americans, just people randomly wearing a hoodie like this and being in a neighborhood. >> on saturday protests turned violent as commdemonstrators smd windows and destroyed local

businesses. >> a small group of people gathered in downtown oakland saturday night. sadly some of them dishonored the memory of trayvon by engaging in violent activities that hurt our growing economy and endangered people. this is unacceptable and we will not tolerate violence in our city, end quote. hundreds of protesters and shutting down part of a freeway. this is new video from overnight. traffic was shut down in both directions of hollywood boulevard in highland. police in riot gear fired beanbags into the crowds to disperse those protesters. police also cleared about 200 protesters from interstate 10, which had to be closed for about an hour. at least one person was arrested. the search continues this morning for a two-year-old girl who was reportedly last seen in a parked car in oakland now five days ago. oakland police joined dozens of volunteers yesterday in the search for daphne webb. her father reported her missing and said he left her in his car

while he headed into a convenience store. the child was left with his elderly mother in the car, but she has dementia. when he came out, the girl was gone. the search is concentrated along trails near the girl's home near 580. police are investigating the deadly shooting of a teenage boy. police say they received several calls about shots being fired in murtha drive in east san jose yesterday. when officers got there, a party was just breaking up. they found a teenager inside one vehicle with several gunshot wounds. that victim, who is believed to be 17 years old, was taken to the hospital where he died. no arrests have been made. it's still unclear whether the city's 28th homicide was gang related. 4:34 this morning. investigators in san ramon looking for a cause to a wildfire. homes near albion road and silva way had fires.

it took crews an hour to fully contain that fire, but not before 30 acres were scorched. they had eight engines and 30 firefighters on scene. they brought in a fixed wing aircraft and a helicopter to do water drops. >> we were in the living room watching tv when all of a sudden i heard low-flying helicopters. i thought, what in the world was that? then we saw the pink cloud. i said, okay, that was fire, but it was right over our neighborhood. we just saw cars and people lined up, came out here to the park, turned right and just looked up at the mountain and it was all black and a pretty heavy fire line. >> neighbors say they feel lucky and they're grateful firefighters were there in time to get the upper hand. they say it's a reminder of all the dry grass in the area that can catch fire quickly. no one was hurt and no structures were damaged. fire investigators in the south bay also looking for the cause of another wildfire. about two acres burned yesterday afternoon about 4:00 on a hill

in winfield drive near coleman. it took a dozen firefighters and a helicopter four hours to contain those flames. no one was hurt and no homes were damaged. 31 chinese students and teachers who survived the asianna flight in san francisco are back home this morning. they were headed for a summer camp when their plane went down at sfo. more than a week later, they have made it home. all teenage girls died as a result of the crash. another group of 35 students and teachers who were on that plane will stay in the u.s. to continue their tour, according to the chinese consulate. crews are actually setting up a blood drive at sfo this morning following that crash of flight 214. the drive hosted by the airport blood centers and the pacific and stanford blood bank. it will be held at the baggage claim area of terminal 3 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. people are encouraged to

participating. if you're interested in donating, you should make an appointment ahead of time. we have more information on our website, nbcbayarea.com. >> i like the weekend, rob. can we get a repeat? >> it would be nice staying in the weekend right now and not having to go back to work this morning, but some of the weather is similar that we'll see later on today. first we're starting with the low clouds this morning. 50s outside, but look at fairfield. southwest winds at 26 miles an hour, and we have low clouds around the tri-valley. a cool start. lots of low clouds to start the day, and by lunchtime we'll get the sunshine inland. but it will rapidly spill back inward tonight as the sea breeze turns stronger from 3:00 to 7:00 this evening. you'll see our temperatures staying pretty mild inland. for our valleys today, 70s to 80s low inland. only 60 san francisco over to oakland. tomorrow, looks fairly cool. breezy at times.

80s and 90s coming back, so it looks like we'll get an early start to that weekend weather on thursday. but mike, we still have to go to work. >> we're looking over here to the bay bridge where rob is talking about some low clouds, and this is what you see. you see the span on the incline just fine, both decks, but you get over to the san francisco side and those towers are disappearing just a short way up above the roadway. so we're watching for that to affect your drive, the fog potentially, but so far no problems. those speeds coming off the north shore, ashby showing a little slowing this morning, but no reports of closures on berkeley, either. the arrow smashing what will be congestion spots early in the commute, but right now you're fine through livermore itself. you have a couple issues. this one over here at north flynn, reports of basically a mattress in the lane still, so folks trying to catch a little

extra sleep, i guess. don't do that. also, there is some sort of stall as you get to grant road. most of it on the shoulder, but we'll track it. back to you. a massive truck fire is causing a traffic nightmare on a popular los angeles provide this morning. all northbound lanes at interstate 5 at the route 2 interchange are closed this morning. look at this video of this black smoke bill lowing into the air. this is just north of downtown l.a. a truck carrying thousands of gallons of gas overturned and caused a fire. cal tran is racing to make repairs but traffic will likely not be back to normal until tomorrow. people will need another way to work. blueprints for the nsa, the top secret documents edward snowden claims to have and why he says he doesn't want to

good monday morning to you. where is everyone? still in bed, perhaps? it is a monday morning, folks make thirg wing their way to th plaza of the bay bridge this morning. not a lot of traffic. we'll keep tabs on it. it is 4:43. supporters of ousted egyptian president morsi is planning a massive rally. their hoping to attract a million people to march on the roads of kir row. they removed morsi after overwhelming demonstrations against his policies. since then, morsi supporters have vowed to stay on the streets until he is reinstated. edward snowden may have thousands more documents on nsa documents, including a blueprint of how it operates. snowden does not want the details made public because it would just reveal too much.

although the journalist is not thinking those documents would harm americans or our national security. snowden is believed to be holed up, still, in moscow's international airport still seeking asylum. one of the world's best motorcycle riders was killed in a race after crashing at speeds of more than 285 miles per hour. bill warner was trying to top 300 miles an hour at a racing event in maine yesterday. this is video of a trial run that happened, actually, just minutes before the crash. witnesses say warner lost control of the motorcycle and he just veered off the runway. he was conscious, believe it or not, and actually talking after the crash, but he later died at a hospital, and the crash is under investigation. the cirque de soleil show will resume in las vegas tomorrow night 17 days after an acrobat fell to her death. the troupe says it will not perform the final aerial scene

in honor of her life. it was the 32nd aerial accident in circumstanque de soleil's 30 history. considering the nuclear option that allows a simple majority of 41 to override a filibuster instead of the required 60 votes. a vote could come tomorrow and this week republicans are expected to vote on portions of obamacare. this comes after the administration announced it could delay a key component of the affordable health care act for a year. i want to check the forecast now with meteorologist rob mida. he is in for christina, and we're coming off a lovely weekend. >> it was pretty nice. from what you can see by the temperatures this morning, we're seeing 51 right now. misty skies, though, with some of those low clouds this morning. it may be enough to get the windshield wipers going from time to time this morning. 59 in sunnyvale, fairfield 52,

and what's interesting about fairfield, winds out of the northwest at about 26 miles an hour. we have that ocean air-conditioning on overdrive right now also bringing in a few low clouds over the tri-valley this morning. one of the nice things about the winds picking up, you don't get air quality much better than this. outdoor exercise today looks great and our temperatures shouldn't be all that hot, either, until the second half of the week. next two days, morning clouds and mist carrying back to the coastline, and then 80s and 90s return to the forecast the second half of the week. if you're going to head to tahoe or yosemite over the weekend, some rain. we may see some drizzle at times tonight heading into tomorrow morning. highs in the bay area today, upper 70s. closer to san jose, mid-80s south around morgan hill.

74 degrees in santa cruz, so that will be the sunny spot around the coast today. 84 in fairfield, 83 in danville, and mainly 60s across the bay from san francisco over to berkeley and oakland, 61 in pacifica and 70s in north bay. keeping things cool in wine country for the next two days. looks fairly mild and breezy at times. wednesday notice those inland temperatures starting to jump on up, and by thursday, friday and the weekend ahead, looks like mid-90s coming back. as we head to wednesday through friday on the coast, though, temperatures staying in the 60s. back to you. you may want to fill up your gas tank now instead of waiting any longer. for that and the rest of your news before the bell, we turn things over to jackie deangelis. she's live at cnbc headquarters. >> watching the features this morning. they're pretty much flat as stocks are coming off their second best week of the year with index at record highs.

we're going to get details on retail sales and business inventory, so watch for that, but earnings are going to dominate this week with a third of the dow and 75 members of the s&p set to report their results. the dow rose to 15,464, the nasdaq adding 32 to 2600. you talked about gas prices. a new survey finding that prices fell about half a percent to an average of $3.359 a gallon nationwide. may sound like good news, but in the san francisco area, prices are higher. they're averaging $3.89 a gallon while they're $3.98 in san jose. these prices are expected to jump 10 to 20 cents in the next couple days while retailers are passing on natural gas. there are also rising tensions in the middle east impacting both oil and gases prices well. >> get it while you can.

jackie, thank you so much. 4:48. investigators are hoping the autopsy for corey montieth will reveal more about the actor's death. known for the fox series, he was found dead in his hotel room on thursday. mo montief has struggled with drug daxz since he was a teenager, however, no official cause of death has been released. a boat was capsized during a training run in may. teen andrew simpson died in that crash. since then, team artemis has been repairing the multi-million-dollar ac-72 and says it plans to be back on the water in just a couple weeks. >> the boat is going through structural tests this week. we finally got it to the stage where we can flip it over and run all sorts of different loads

through the boat. we'll be hopefully in the water, you know, two, three weeks from now. it's sort of hard to tell, but if everything goes nicely, it's not too far away. >> this weekend, team new zealand was once again the only team in the water for the cup race series in san francisco. this was just a display race. match racing is expected to pick up team later this week. prince william is keeping himself busy as he awaits the birth of his first child. he was in a polo match with prince harry in western england. he appeared relaxed as he kept up a commitment to this match. he and the duchess are expecting the birth of their child at any moment. the baby is expected to be born in a private wing at st. mary's of london where prince william was born 31 years ago. all media is camped out just waiting for her to arrive. >> poor thing.

i want to be a pediatrician. i was hoping to become a chef someday. i want to own a big house with a convertible and a jacuzzi and a pool, you know, all the good stuff. role models, they don't tell you what to do, but they help you to go where you are going. i want to study law. i don't want to become a lawyer, i want to become a cia agent. young people, i think, do need a mentor because, you know, we don't know everything and, you know, older people, they've experienced stuff that we haven't. i would like to be a baseball player. as long as there is someone behind you pushing you and supporting you then you feel that you always have the strength to keep going. well i would like to become like a doctor, that's my first choice. sometimes you feel down and you feel that no one really understands, and no one knows like, where you're coming from, and it's great to see someone who has been where you are now, and, you know, making it.

the country. >> hostess is already planning big changes for its spongy snack cakes. updates may include versions fewer calories, possibly even gluten free. they may start popping up in sports stadiums and movie theater concession stands. you probably remember hostess went bankrupt last year pulling their products from shelves. a company bought it and kept the company's name. the box says, the sweetest comeback in the history of ever. >> get them while they're hot. or cold, whatever. >> i know that most of my friends who have a gluten-free diet, their objection to twinkies is specifically that, the gluten. over here toward the san mateo bridge. we're looking in the westbound direction. moving smoothly here. no problems across the

peninsula. we will look at the eastern side, though. the southbound side showed a great deal of slowing and i called the cpsc a few minutes ago. perhaps it was a larger truck moving slower through the area but that is now cleared from the roadway. we have also slower track coming off the altamont pass as you approach the merge at 205 and 580. those yellow speeds there down to about 58, and that's not a problem right now. back to you. it is 4:56. if you bought a powerball ticket in san francisco, you better check those numbers. >> that's right, a winning ticket was sold at cable car one and spirit grocer matching five of six numbers. it is worth $2.6 million. winning numbers, here you go. check them. 8, 37, 2, 35 and 22.
