you're facing west, the taillights away. the light volume. the high-rise and the flat section. low clouds drifting around. so far, it's just fine as far as the view goes. and the maps farther east, the dublin interchange, through livermore, not a concern. the red zone, there was overnight construction. and this is a little bit severe for the construction that typically happens through the area. i'll let you kn. chp hasn't given me any special notes but i'll do more homework. we'll send it back to you. in the meantime, we have breaking news in the east bay. an armed robbery suspect is dead. shot and killed by an off-duty sheriff's deputy in alameda overnight. the alameda county sheriff's deputy said two suspects tried to rob the market just after 10:30 last night. the deputy who was off duty and inside the grocery store at the time pulled out his gun and at some point, deputies say he shot and killed one of the suspects. the other got away and is still on the run this morning.

contained. authorities say the fire was human-caused but would not say whether it was accidental or intentional. people say at some point, it's raining ashdown there. i know meteorologist christina loren, your mom lives nearby that fire. >> yes, she does. she lives very close to it. what i'm concerned about is that's really putting a strain on the resources for the state of california. we had a little wildfire -- brush fire, excuse me, break out in livermore. and we also have a fire burning near big sur that we'll talk about in a few moments. what that means for us is we need to be on the absolute best of fire safety, especially getting into this weekend and the next two months in general. we've got the big strong ridge of high pressure. this is not only going to bump up the temperatures today. we're also talking about the inclusion of thunderstorms and potential dry lightning strikes as we get into the end of the weekend, monday, tuesday, wednesday, the pattern continues. so this is something that's very -- we've been talking about it, just about all summer long. but it hasn't happened just yet. we don't want it to happen.

4:39 am
minutes ago, a screen shot. you can see sparsely populated. just a couple of headlights in either direction. moving forward, we see that you're basically in the green zone over to the approach dardy and hopyard. that's where the construction is. i did check, and it's still two lanes overnight. but we see more slowing. perhaps we do have a little longer stretch or we might have a few more vehicles that are moving very slowly as far as the construction crews causing a little slowdown there. and now, just east of there, heading through castro valley, again, that might be a crew that's starting to clear right now, having some of the slower vehicles running through the area. we'll keep on tracking that. meanwhile, as we're looking over toward the bay bridge, oakland 880 slowing in both directions just north of the coliseum. some of the crews will stick around until 5:00, 5:3067. we have one lane blocked and it will create some slowing. on the peninsula, a lot of scattered slowing showing through areas for 280 around 380, in both directions with construction overnight as well. not a major concern.
