thanks for joining us. i'm kris sanchez along with meteorologist rob mayeda. i am looking for a comfortable weekend? >> well, increased clouds and more humidity and not comfortable. 61 in san jose, and there is a little bit of a sea breeze out there and not strong, but about what we had friday, a san diego we are expecting the temperatures in the same range with fog down along the coast. notice the clouds which made for the fantastic sunrise, those are mid level clouds that is part of the tropical moisture coming up out of the south which will keep the humidity higher than we are used to in the bay area. 68 in san francisco, and 70s in oakland and there is enough moisture out there in the day today, and isolated shower could be possible around some of the hilltops and the chances actu actually increase early next week. is we have interesting weather ahead and we will have it in the full seven-day forecast in a few minutes. >> thank you, rob.

we begin with breaking news and an amber alert for two young nevada children that was cancelled this morning. the children were found safe in sacramento. the alert was forliana and her younger brother rafael. the parents do not have custody of the children and they were found in el coe, nevada. the children were found unharmed but no word on the whereabouts of the parents this morning. this morning two people are dead and others in critical condition after gun fire erupted in oakland overnight. police say that dozens of shots rang out in the corner of nachras way, and police say that two other people showed up at the hospital with with gunshot wounds as well, but as of this morn, it is unclear if they are

connected with this shooting. so far no word on a suspect or motive. a bold crime in one of the bay area's safest neighborhoods and now this morning, police are hoping that new sketches will help them to catch two men who allegedly attacked a father and his young daughter at a park in palo alto. look at the sketches of the two suspects both believed to be in their mid-20s. the dad says he was leaving robles park not far from the stanford campus, and that is when he and his 3-year-old daugt we were con fronted by the two men. one had a gun and the other had a knife. the father gave up his watch, but then he says that the suspect with the knife punched nim the face and slashed his arm. neighbors in the area say they are on edge. >> that is disturbing to anyone that anyone would attack anyone, but the fact that there is a child there is anned a added aspect that is disturbing. >> police believe that the two men may be responsible for

another armed robbery earlier in the week and they are beefing up paroles this in area. this morning, police are investigating a shooting of a highway police officer after a motorcycle crash in santa clara yesterday. while investigating an officer saw a car matching the suspect car on wilder road off of route 224, and the officer approached the car and then for some reason shot the male driver. investiga investigators won't say what led to that shooting. a suspect was taken to the hospital, and his condition is unknown this morning. the incident caused a major traffic headache in the evening commute yesterday. if you are wondering why you were stuck in it, all lanes of east 24 were shut down for an hour and a half. new this morning, a fund-raiser for one of the teenager teenagers killed in the horrific crash that we showed you last weekend in san jose. the family now planning a car wash fund-raiser for 16-year-old

salvador fernandez. the parking lot of mountain mike's pizza on blossom hill road and snail avenue will lend itself for the car wash. it starts at noon and the money raised will help to pay for the funeral costs. fernandez and a 19-year-old man were killed on saturday night when the car they were in slammed into a tree. three other teenagers were hurt. no word yet on the cause of the crash, but the police say it looks like speed may have been a factor. in just two hours, one of the tallest buildings in the east bay will be reduced to rubble in a matter of seconds. this morning, warren hall on the campus of east hayward will be imploded. the university says that it is seismically unsafe and has to go, but the scientists are also taking advantage of the rare opportunity. today in the bay's jeanne ellie has more.

>> there is a final look at warren hall. >> they are blowing up a big building over, there and that has to be good, right? >> reporter: scientist s wis wie usgs are racing to finish setting up 600 seismic sensors to record the ground motion when warren hall is imploded saturday morning. the sensors are around the building and in a line stretching from the san francisco bay to san ramon. >> we are trying to measure the ground motions when this building comes down. it will be a thump that will put seismic energy into the ground. >> reporter: gio physicist ruben catchings says that the fault will amplify the seismic energy and for the first time the sensors will help to create a picture of where the fault is underground. >> just because we see a groundbreak at the surface, it does not mean that it is the fault, itself, but it is a zone. we want to see the width of the zone, and we want to see if it is possible to determine how many strands are coming towards the surface. it goes the san pablo bay. >> reporter: the underground map

created here can be applied along the hayward fault from san mill pe milpedas to the bay. data will also show how the seismic energy responds and can be applied to earthquakes. >> it will give them a much better picture of where the damage likely occurred. >> reporter: while most areed t event, the scientists are mostly concerned with what happens after the blast. they say it will take several months to analyze the data collected by all of the sensors they put in. later in the newscast, a

>> reporter: chuy gomez the eternal optimist waking up thursday didn't think it would be the last day, but it ended up that day. >> called into a meeting and said meet me before the meeting and there was a meeting i would go to and so i went to the meeting before the meeting and i saw the general manager sitting in there, and i said, oh, my last day, i see it coming. this is. >> reporter: and he was right. >> i sat down, and hey, you are a great guy and we respect you and love you, but we are going in a different direction. >> reporter: a different direction after 20 years of a wildly popular deejay for the hip-hop and younger jgeneration. he got it started in the late 80s and rocked the mike at kmil for 20 years and saw the changes. >> i don't think that radio is going anywhere. i think it is in high demand and stuff to do on the internet, but it lacks the personality. >> reporter: he has interviewed dozens of celebrities and blows him away when they remember him. he is still host to the video

good morning. looking live at san jose this morning and some of the clouds are making for kind of a muggy, humid morning. not that you can tell it by my hair. well, the malibu grand prix has been a fixture in the bay since the '70s, but it will be the last. the park owners decided not the renew their lease which means the bumper cars and the batting cages and the go-carts will have a final go around tomorrow. the park opened in 1979 and homed to indy style racing cars in the largest outdoor single racer track in the bay area. our bob row del talks to many people who are sad to see it go. >> people have memories of times when they were younger and coming back with their kids and significant others and i have heard other stories of how

important this location is to a lot of the local people. >> and bob took the track for a final spin. the speed zone in los angeles which is owned by the same parent company is now the only place in the country to ride this indy 500-style car. if you want a final spin, it is open until 8:00 tomorrow night, and you might see my producer sandy there, because she is trying to get somebody to go with her. not this gal. i'm not a good driver. that is not true. i'm not a fast driver. i should not spill the beans, should i, rob? >> well, that would be the place to try. you should get out there with your producer. and this morning, we have low clouds and mist in san francisco, but increasing humidity out there, and you notice that the last couple of days is this going to be more so today. 50s and low 60s outside. we have a little bit of the sea breeze getting into fairfield and the east bay and today, this is the cooler of the two weekend day days and the reason it will back off tomorrow, and leading to the temperatures climbing up sundayk and the humidity levels are high

in the morning, but what is going to be unusual is that as the temperatures warm up how sticky it is going to be in the afternoon as more moisture continues up out of the south. it is going to be nice for the ball game and the a's hosting the cleveland indians and we will see 70s in the day, and then cooling as the game wears on. we are no longer in cruise control of the weather. we have the fog and the low clouds around the coast in san francisco. but what we will see tomorrow, increasing temperatures inland and we will show you how hot in a moment. the more interesting is the humidity, and it will affect everybody, the stickiness outside and a chance of seeing the scattered showers, and maybe today in the coastal mountains near santa cruz, and then as we get to sunday and monday, a increasing chance around the hilltops and the bay area. satellite shows you the mid level moisture coming up out of the south. the water vapor view gives yu a better look at the mid level moisture shows you driving out of the south, and low level off

shore here and scooping it up moving towards the bay ear y and starting to see it now. we could have an isolated shower along the coastline today, but increasing chance as the low is closer to us next week. today, areas of low clouds on the coast, and mid-level clouds going by and a maybe a sprinkle as they move over the bay area, but as they go into the evening, that is a lot of fog on the seashore as the clouds drift by inland. late torl and into monday, you are now starting to see more moisture in the bay hills and down towards hamilton and the santa cruz mountains as the moisture is spilling from the south, and increasing chance of showers next week. and highs today in san jose around 90s and 80s in morgan hill, and the tri valley seeing the low 90s or high 80s this afternoon. today, you will see the temperatures climbing up to the 80s and the low 90s over to s santa rosa. so the heat is coming back, but coupled with the humidity, it is

going to be a little bit more uncomfortable than we are used to around the bay area. you will see the inland highs as high as the 90s. moisture continues to come in monday and tuesday daix and fairly interesting, and so we will have to keep a look at the radar to see if we can manage some showers out of this. any time you get the oncoming moisture, you increase the chances of moisture. >> i offer up a clarification. >> sure. >> i am not a bad driver. >> we absolutely believe that. >> thank you, rob. what is up with pluto? that is the name of a new science rap which students are learning in the san jose schools, and with the help of a former stanford student, students are learning rap to make science fun. >> well, i'm sorry y'all ♪ ♪ since the '30s clarence is a oddball ♪ >> in this one, he argues that pluto is not a planet, and they

it seem s ths that more and mor americans think that it can happen, and sol of them are turning to exorcism to drive out the demons. today in the bay stephanie trang takes a look at two bay area exorcists who are being tapped for their alleged power. >> reporter: he's the official exorcist for the diosese of san jose. >> what people would say to me is that i need an exorcism, and i always say, i don't do them on demand. >> reporter: father gary thomas is pastor of saratoga's sacred heart parish. in 2005 he travelled the rome to participate in a vatican trained seminary about how to perform an exorcism, and mandated by pope john paul the second. >> mandated a priest be trained in each area. >> reporter: and anthony hopkins' character in the 2012

movie "the priest." >> and since the movie came out the number of exorcists has quadrupled. >> reporter: to 75 in the u.s. who says that the number of requests that he got also jumped from a handful in a few years to 100 a week. >> we get out isaiah -- >> reporter: but he is not the only one getting the request. >> it is the holy spirit fighting the e demons. >> reporter: and luke casey said he turned outside of the church when he started hearing voices. he went to a doctor. >> i'm bipolar and i go to a psychologist that prescribes me medicines. >> reporter: and medicines that failed him pushing him into alcoholism. for help he turned to this man, carlos olivera who calls himself a christian. >> i'm a christian exorcist.

>> in the name of jesus christ, get out. i feel like i'm doing the work of years ago. >> reporter: you understand that many people doing this will think that you are crazy. they may think that i'm crazy, but i always prove the point. that is the easiest thing to do is to prove that i am right, and they are wrong. >> reporter: in san jose, olivera now works in fresno, and he does not charge. he takes donations. he is not trained nor part of a church. olivera operates alone by the name of demon bust er. >> reporter: maybe the person needs continued help or medication or it is dangerous, because they believe that everything is fine because a spiritual exorcism happened when they are dealing with what is a mental health issue. >> well, i always encourage the people to continue taking their m medication, and seek help. people coming to me are people who are have already gave up on

th that. >> reporter: how many of the cases would you say are mental health issues? >> i'd say 90%. >> reporter: father thomas works in a team accompanied by three medical professionals. >> i have a local doctor attached to one of the local hospitals and a clinical psychologist and psychiatrist, all practicing catholics. >> reporter: and another myth is that exorcisms can happen in a day. it took me four years to exorcise one man fully and free him. >> reporter: no major u.s. medical organization recognizes exorcism, and not one mention. >> i'm open to, you know, to e debate anybody on the subject, but i have not found anybody to debate me. i have been trying to find scientists and physicians, and to debate me, but nobody, nobody wants to debate me. >> reporter: but father thomas says that the ritual does not need a debate nor acknowledgment from anyone except for those who need the e help.

and we are looking at the high clouds coming over the bay, and the temperatures are 50s and 60s outside and high humidity that you will notice into the afternoon. you will see the clouds and the fog coming around san francisco and the high clouds coming out in the afternoon. temperatures in. 80 in san jose, and 75 in oakland and hayward and in the mid-70s as we head into the afternoon tomorrow. hot in the bay area, and we will look at the sunday forecast in a few minutes sglcht all right. thank you, rob. meanwhile, bloodshed and chaos continues on the streets of egypt this morning. muslim brotherhood sup poeporte have barricaded themselves inside of a mosque. supporters of e gyp's ousted presidency mohamed morsi are vowing to defy a state of emergency with more protests throughout the weekend.

more than 80 people were killed friday in what the tuz mim brotherhood called a day of rage, and that was for security forces clearing two sit-in camps. more than 70 people have been kill and thousands others injured in the violent protess.s the search continues for a crew after a ferry sank in the philippines. 30 people are confirmed dead. 629 people have been rescued. 170 others are missing this morning. authorities say that the ferry collided with a cargo vessel yesterday. many of the passengers jumped into the ocean, and others were trapped when the ferry sank within minutes. and monday, there may be more charges for oscar pistorius when he returns to court.

he is possibly charged for wrecklessly firing a firearm in two other incidents. the man known as the blade runner shot reeva steenkamp, but he claims he thought she was a intruder. a deadly cargo plane crash this week report shows that the cockpit and flight data recorders recovered from the wreck aage, and the ntsb hopes that it will give them more insight into what killed the pilot and the co-pilot in birmingham, alabama, wednesday. >> and now breaking news from the amber alert issued out of nevada this morning. the two young children were found safe in sacramento. the alert was for lilliana ramirez and her 3-year-old brother martin angel rosales. they say that the parents kidnapped them from elko,

nevada, thursday, and the parents do not have custody of the kids. the kids were found overnight, but so far no word about the whereabouts of the parents. this morning police continued the call hannah anderson a hero even as communication shows that the 16-year-old and the man who allegedly kidnapped her and killed her mother and brother. there are letters turned up between the two written together, and evidence of 13 calls between the two before the cell phones were shut off. the two took multiple day trips together, and most recently went to malibu and hollywood. authorities say that dimaggio held hannah against her will for six days until he was shot and killed in the idaho back country about 75 miles north of boise. hannah anderson is now back with her father. new this morning, one person

investigation after his wife claims that they were arguing on the cell phone while he was driving and that fire erupted. however, the phone records show that was not the case. in just about 90 minutes, one of the tallest buildings in the east bay will be reduced to rubble in a matter of seconds. warren hall on the campus of campus of east cal will be imploded because it is deemed unsafe. there are going to be more than 100 pounds of explosives in that building. scientists are hoping that hundreds of monitors placed around hay ward will teach them more about how the area could be impacted by a similar-sized earthquake. let's bring in a professor from cal state east bay, and we suspect that you might be busy later on this morning. >> the name is strayer. s-t-r-a-y-e-r. we were out until 6:00 employing

the devices around the bay. and when the building hits the ground, it is going to be a thump, and the energy will radiate around the area, and we have incredibly dense array of these and the line that runs along the hayward fault, and perpendicular and this is going to act as an mri or the x-ray of the region to allow us to understand what parts of the ground move fast or slow, and that are going to shake more or less with an earthquake and it comes down the planning and ultimaly save lives to give people an idea of what the ground will do in the event of an earthquake. >> we don't generally get advanced warning of an earthquake, and what will people feel who live closest to the area? >> we just don't know. this is a small event. typically a magnitude 3.0, you want to be above it to feel it. we calculate this on the back of an envelope to be around 2.0 or

more. that is -- we don't expect a whole lot. maybe a few bobbleheads to move around in the area, but nothing terribly exciting. >> let me ask you this, because a lot of the folks when we have the small earth waiks can that we feel, the 2s and the 3s that you mention, and a lot of folks say, could this trigger the next big one and a lot of folks will wonder that today. >> well, never say, "never," but the likelihood is extremely, extremely low. the fact is that the hayward fault is a critical fault. it is ready to go now or now. or now. so this is not going to adversely or change that stress system. so, the likelihood is very, very very small. but never say, "never." >> and you mentioned that you have a lot of those sensors placed around. how long will it take you to find out what you are going to find out from those sensors? >> well, threets go-- there's going to be serious mathematics to go on with the data.

. good morning once again. the weather is turning interesting around thearea. you have the fog around the golden gate bridge around san francisco and that is a site that we are accustomed to this time of the year, but san jose is a different story. we have mid level clouds coming in and a chance of maybe seeing a few light showers. that mid level moisture and a better chance of showers showing up early next week. what we will see all around the bay area is increasing humidity this weekend which is bringing this the moisture and keeping the temperatures up in the low 50s and 60s this morning, and enough of a sea breeze to prevent the temperatures from warming up inland and tomorrow that sea breeze will back off and we will see highs in the

mid- to upper 90s in the valley. and this afternoon, plenty of humid, and notice the grind of the hilltops as the high pressure builds in. we will see a clash of the high pressure to east and low to the west, and scooping up the moisture from the south and tossing the tropical clouds our way, and so you have the low clouds and drizzle around san francisco and the coast today, we will see the temperatures similar the friday and then sunday, hotter temperatures in the inland and 90s possible and then the wild card increasing moisture into next week could kick off the scattered showers and maybe even a thundershower, and these are the clouds that made for the nice sunrise if you weren't blocked by the fog this morn morning. look at the clouds showing up brightly here on the infrared view, and moving south the north over monterrey, and that is one spot here over the santa cruz mountains that could see a shou, and the water vapor loop here shows the area off shore pulling the tropical moisture northward to keep it humid and that is the unusual part of the weather to

see the increasing temperatures with the humidity outside and making it feel more unk uncomfortable. so you have the fog and this time, san francisco, you can see the high level clouds going on by to the east. then the fog comes inland again this evening. things will turn more interes g interesting as the more moisture spills in, and the low pressure approaches the coast and as we get into monday, a chance of seeing a few morph to scattered showers, and certainly as we get into monday night and tuesday. so, summer showers are a possibility at times around the bay aer rea. today, 80s around san jose, and perhaps some low 90s, and around the tri valley, and pleasanton and sunol, and back towards the 80s and castor valley, and 80 near san francisco and oakland. then the temperatures will jump up as the sea breeze backs off for sunday and keeping our eye on the sky for a chance of scattered showers or brief thundershower could be possible. last week, just had the fogust

as you can see from the disease control list, salmonella has been found in a wide variety of foods, sesame paste, cucumbers, peanut butter, mangos and chickens. many of the cases are found in eggs and that is why you should not eat raw eggs in cookie dough or mayonnaise, but one of the biggest problems is cross contamination. if you cut the cantaloupe without washing the knife, kit transfer from the outside to the insi inside. and if you use a cutting board, don't use it again until you have washed it thoroughly with soap and warm water. andrea takes extra steps to protect her family. >> pit is hamburger meat or whatever it is, i fill it up with some of the spring water and shake it around and dump that water out -- >> there are 2,000 strains to the salmonella, but the doctors say with a few steps, you can
