of fresno -- i know someone who is familiar with porterville, laura garcia-cannon, of course. as you can see -- i worked in bakersfield, didn't do time in the pen just to clarify. i know that didn't sound that great. it's monday. cut me some slack. you can see here in the bay area we're mostly dry. some of the activity is going to make its way, slowly making its way into the bay area starting in the east and pushing to the north. if you do see any of those thunderstorms, it's mostly going to be in the high country, the east bay hills, through the north bay mountains as well. 90 degrees in santa rosa. 85 in santa teresa. you might be wondering why are we going to get showers from an area of low pressure offshore and stay so warm. typically we get a cold front that drops from the north and moves to the south. we're still under the influence of high pressure, so the two systems are working against each other.
5:50 am
as a result we get those thunderstorms. it could be very active today. we're going to be on top of that all day long right here on nbc bay area weather center. i've got rob mayeda coming in later this morning. temperatures will be in the 90s today. 96 degrees inland, 82 bay side. 73 degrees at the coast. we'll stay nice and toasty for tomorrow. not quite as warm but more humidity headed our way. wednesday into thursday, temps level off a little bit. we'll keep the chance of thunderstorms for the mountains for thursday. friday into the weekend, the dry heat comes back. let's check on the drive with mike inouye. >> looking at a pretty nice drive right now. we're seeing a little bit of the change. in to livermore, pretty standard for 580 and 84. the big note after the last report, reports come in of a smauld big rig. west 580, your commute direction, at santa rita road, blocking the lanes. if they can't clear that soon, that will be an issue heading
