celebrate something very special people. >> many of us have fond memories of them or have learned some of life's lessons from them, these days, 1 in 10 children actually live with their grandparents. >> in honor of grandparents everywhere, some of the people behind the scenes here shared their thoughts about their grandparents. i'm crying already. that we think you'll relate to. let's take a look. >> my grandmother used to make us believe that money actually could grow on trees. she had a big oak tree in her backyard and she'd plant quarters in it and dimes and nickels. when we'd climb the tree we'd think, this tree actually has money. it's growing money. and we would think it was a magical tree. >> a special memory i have with my grandmom is her love of cooking. she'd make mac and cheese, sweet potato pie, peach cobbler. it was all good. and even if i wasn't hungry, she'd make me eat anyway. >> these are my grandparents hazel and joe reese. i miss my grandmother every

should leave alone. >> you started with denise's house. this is a landscaping issue. tell us about the before shot and what you think. >> the main problem is the landscaping. those little annoying bushes with the mounds of dirt with the mulch on top have to go. first thing we did is took out those two bushes and the mounds. eliminated the hanging plants. >> everybody hates them? >> unless they are in pristine condition and they are beautiful. >> i'm sorry, still terrible unless they are on the back deck. >> don't agree with her but what am i going to do? >> we also widened the path leading to the front door. continued the grass right under the tree that we put inside or to the left now which is now a big tall birch tree. next we painted the garage door to match the light beige siding on the second floor. otherwise that house looks dirty because of the white door. it doesn't contrast well. >> paint the main door teal, pressure wash the driveway. >> why teal? >> teal will bring it forward.

hokey and popped some flowers in and that's where it belongs. >> some window boxes. i'm sorry. >> what is this segment turning into? >> and that whole house top to finish, $910 to $2940, if you have the next guy do it. >> a house that will sell. let's go to elizabeth's house. >> the problem is it has a great advantage of having mature trees and being set back. the down side to that is it reads as dark. if you get inside that house it feels dark. fool the eye. steam clean the roof because it's half of the surface. and buyers think if a roof is dirty that you have a leaky roof which is not the case. steam clean that. resurface and smooth that driveway. it looks like it's in the back country. what a difference that makes. edge it. resurface. >> it's very, very expensive. >> it's not expensive. that whole resurfacing if you have it done is less than $1500. not a big deal.

>> not a lot happens for the donkey either. >> so the volkswagen ad, the little boy, which i think we teased coming in, was a favorite. >> is this the darth vader one? >> yeah. >> this one was adorable. did this boost sales? >> this is an interesting game changer for ads. volkswagen and deutch put this out before the game which was really the first time anyone did. and interestingly enough, i was on the show previewing the ads on friday. about 900,000 people had seen it online. but by the time the show was over, 4 million people had seen it. it shows how broadcast and viral can work together as it strategically does. >> that little guy is a great actor, whoever he is. >> the ipod commercial of 2003. and the -- >> that was struggling before this. >> it was a game changer for the ipod. it had been out a couple of years. this was when they pushed the fact you don't need to have a mac in order to use the ipod. you can use it with a pc. and this blew the roof off of it.

building. 19 years. my dream is far different than anything i ever dreamed of. i thought i'd come to l.a. at 20 and do the typical, show up on sunday, deliver a message and go home. i didn't realize that that dream had to fail in order to find the dream i was meant to live for. and that was taking a six-hour walk around the park and seeing young boys up against police cars being arrested and seeing people that were homeless. and that night my dream changed through brokenness. >> you want people to serve for 24. what do you want people to do? i think there are a lot of people in the world who want to do something. >> they want to make a difference. >> they don't know what to do. >> the reason we're doing that for 24 hours is to do something radical. for 24 hours, people are going to plug in for an hour, 30 minutes. if they are crazy they'll do 24 hours with us. it's going to be a really great event. a lot of people say, how i do find time to serve in my busy day. so impossible to do it. a lady came by. i said just give it 45 minutes.

and who is with us? sophia, sophie and mary. >> they are out of control. >> how cute are you three. >> bonjour, ladies. >> do you guys speak any french? >> yeah, a little. >> what do you say? >> tell us. >> bonjour. >> i love them. >> bon appetit. >> what are we making? >> crepes. so alfie and amelia are the brother and sister in this book. they go on these really fun adventures when their aunt cooks for them. and so in this particular adventure she's making them some crepes. they take a bite of a crepe and it transports them to paris. and all these adventures they have in paris. i thought it would be fun it make crepes. this is not a cookbook, obviously for kids but in the back of the book, which we don't have one. in the back of the book, there's two recipes in each book. it's laminated so the kids can make whatever alfie and amelia. >> and is your telephone number in this? >> i, unlike hoda, do not give out my phone number.

>> i'm a little bit more -- >> careful. >> so that's how they act. >> the kids can do them with their parents. >> so we're making crepes. >> which are not really working out so well because i'm talking as i'm doing it. >> giada, doing a book for kids. they enjoy cooking. they enjoy cooking shows. i feel they are left out of that process. >> not great. >> thank you kathie lee. yeah, usually with crepes you have to watch them and not talk and do other things. what i always say with crepes, i throw away the first batch anyway. the first two. after that, they become so beautiful, just like this. >> look how light and airy. >> it's milk, eggs, flower, salt and sugar. i usually do it in the blender. throw everything in the blender and go, boom, and you are done. >> does your little jade love these? >> she does. >> she's making mine with nutella and bananas. >> you can make them sweet and savory. >> i like how you wrapped this up.
