aseana airlines and whether it broke guides into helps victims. they were required to post a toll-free number within an hour to gather and distribute information to families. the airline was also required to provide transportation and lodging for family members that were coming to be with injured loved ones. several passengers are suing asiana saying they failed to provide timely information after the crash students returned to class for the first time since learning a popular teaching has been arrested. hugo cortes guzman was arrested yesterday after questioning him on allegations of unlawful sex with a minor. the school sent a letter to parents and students informing them of the arrest. they say he has been placed on leave pending the investigation and asked that no one form unfounded conclusions.

santa clara police are asking anyone who has had contact with cortes guzman to give them a call. san francisco police say they need your help to catch a killer. they think this man in this muni surveillan surveillance video who is the same person that shot and killed someone minutes later as he got off the street car in the ingleside neighborhood. it happened at randolph and bright streets at about 10:00 that night. they think the killing was random. the man tossed his gun as he ran away. police found it and think it is going to help them identify this person. to help put people at ease, there was an increased officer presence on the line last night. the manager of a san leandro safeway is in the hospital all because of the man in this video. employees of the supermarket say the man walked up to the manager and told him, his wife lost her purse in the store. the manager directed him to the

lost and found. that's when the man punched the manager and then ran away. police say the manager is in the hospital and still not in a condition to speak. they do not know if the two knew each other a couple in their 70s in san francisco hoping to avoid being evekted evicted in less than an hour and a half. they raised seven children at this apartment building at jackson and larkin. the building aus new owner evicted all tenants under the ellis act. the lees remain. they have until 6:00 a.m. to get out. she says she has nowhere else to go. they pay $778 a month under rent control. nearby apartments start at $2,000 a month. >> translator: my last day in this home. i don't know where to court. >> the court says the property owner is not breaking the law. san francisco supervisor says it will take changes to the ellis act to protect families like the

good morning, to you, marla and laura. those winds will likely play a factor if you are crossing any of our bay area bridges. yesterday, they had to wait right up until the minute to find out whether both of those races could happen. they were really pushing the limits when it came to wind speeds. it has to do with wind speeds and currents. today, the winds are going to be a little bit stronger. this is what we're expecting from the winds. 11:00 a.m., you can see the reds coming in, warmer colors. 20-30-mile-per-hour wind speeds. the race was able to happen. 4:00 p.m., we saw the clock getting stronger wind gusts throughout the bay area. this is a widespread wind event. want to make sure you are aware of it. the reason why, we have a storm system moving through. our temperatures down in the 60s in the south bay. fremont, 69. 74 degrees in livermore with a chance for some showers. not a great chance.

pakistani officials say at least 238 people have been killed by yesterday's quake. more than 350 others injured. this is a video of military aid enteri enteri entering carachi earlier this morning. strong aftershocks continue to shake the region. there are also new reports that the quake may have been so strong it created an island. a private pakistani broadcast showed this video, the supposed island in the arabian sea. people were seen standing on the beach looking at it. the island is reportedly 100 feet in diameter. usgs has not confirmed if the quake actually caused the island to form. won't that be interesting if, in fact, that is true. >> extremely. >> what's going on in our bay area forecast today? anything interesting? >> it is the tech tonic plates that created all those micro

climates. that's what makes my heart a little bit difficult but it makes it great for everybody that lives here. if it gets too hat where you live, an hour trip to the coast make things feel more comfortable. that's going to be the case for today. warm inland, not that warm but definitely warmer than what we're expecting at the immediate coast. not expecting to break out of the upper 50s, a windchill factor with some pretty strong winds out there. the strongest sustained speed is up in novato, sustained to 35, 40 miles an hour. area of low pressure funneling in cool air. in addition to the winds, we also are expecting some light showers. right about 4:00 p.m. for some showers near inland valleys up in the north bay in particular. maybe some action out in the east bay but not expecting much. what we will notice is a much cooler day, only breaking out of the upper 60s in center city.

this is what we're looking for as far as your highs. cool day in san jose. cool enough for snow to stick nar around in tahoe. maybe a dusting. everything clears out of here as we head through thursday morning. it should be a nice, clear start, great air quality after that moisture. most of the bay area. 74, livermore. 69 in fremont. 67 degrees in san jose. feeling like fall out there. not for long. we have some major changes headed our way. we are going to warm you up. a warming trend starts as we get into tomorrow. it really kicks into high gear over the course of the weekend with temperatures warming into the 90s. monday, tuesday, wednesday, staying nice and warm around here, which is great news if you still want to hit the beach. your beaches are going to be celebrating some beautiful weather. upper 60s to low 70s out there as we head through this weekend and next. we do have to point out for the next couple of days, we have some rough surf dangers, rip currents and sneaker waves. we'll talk more about that and

your america's cup forecast coming up. right now, back to you, laura and marla thanks, christina. 4:48. bay area firefighters will get hands-on training to help kids facing medical emergencies. they will give pediatric emergency tining to firefighters from all over the bay area. this he will respond to simulated emergency situations involving children and use their own equipment to treat them. the medical needs of children are usually different than adults and this training gives firefighters a chance to learn more specialized skills it is 4:49. today at noon, governor brown will be in oakland to sign a bill increasing the state's minimum wage. the wage will jump from $8 an hour to $10 an hour. starting next july, the minimum wage will increase to $9 in july

and then $10 an hour in july, 2016. an earthquake warning system has been developed. they have until january, 2016, to find the $80 million needed to fund the system. the warren system will not predict earthquakes but will provide valuable seconds of warning palo alto city leaders will come together to celebrate electric vehicles. there will be a special event featuring the latest electric vehicles and electric vehicle test drives. palo alto is the home of tesla motors. earlier this week, they decided to move forward with a plan requiring all new housing project it's to include circuit tri to charge electric vehicles. the giants are benching two key players. >> a scary season at earthquake practice. an armored vehicle goes crashing into a vehicle feet away from players.
