the bay bridge, smooth, overnight crews on the lower deck getting out of san francisco. same pace on the new westbound span. a look toward the san mateo bridge, westbound traffic with the taillights away from us. i don't see slowing but there is a report of something near the high-ri high-rise. i'll check our foster city camera to see if we see anything. know there is some sort of hazard westbound but traffic seems to be moving. back to you. >> thank you, mike. it's 4:32. san francisco police have called a press conference this afternoon to give us details about the man suspected of killing a student on monday. 30-year-old nikhom thephakaysone is suspected of shooting justin valdez, police say he shot valdez after he got off after

light rail train. police arrested the suspect late tuesday night. a candlelight vigil will be held for the victim tonight on the san francisco state campus. that begins at 7:00 p.m. >> the fate of two dogs involved in mauling of a boy last month could be decided today. 10-year-old hunter was visiting friends when one of the dogs attacked him. his mother tells us the attack was so severe part of hunter's ear was torn off. according to city records one of the children living in the home with the dog was also attacked. no word on the extent of those injuries. >> a memorial service will be held for a usf professor killed in a fire in berkeley earlier this month. dr. goodwin taught at usf. he was nicknamed the professor of pop on campus. he was killed in a fire.

firefighters pulled him from the building but he later died. today's memorial at xavier hall on usf campus at 4:30 this afternoon. >> new video in of a collapsed parking lot at the kenyan mall. look at this, this is our first look inside since the standoff ended on tuesday. the death toll stands at 72 with 175 injured. after militants stormed the nairobi mall. the red cross says 71 people are missing. >> al shabaab has claimed responsibility for the attack. a team of international investigators is in the mall getting fingerprints and dna to try to determine the identities and nationalities of the gunmen, there are reports some could be americans. survivors are speaking out. one woman says the only way she

it will be cool enough for a coat. we're going to see nice temperatures later on this afternoon. one of the coldest mornings in a couple month. 47 in gilroy and yeah, these numbers aren't that impressive. they are going to continue to drop off. we have a dry air mass. and as a result of those strong winds and low humidity red flag warning is up for elevations above 1,000 feet, the east bay, the santa cruz mountains, in the north bay as well. that is going to mean you want to take it easy when it comes to fire danger. we have dry northerly winds and they really start to dry out as they pump from land to sea so. as we head throughout day the winds pick up like yesterday. 80 degrees in livermore, 75 fremont, 74 in san jose. 69 in san francisco. so getting comfortable

welcome back. it is 4:44. the number of people killed in a massive earthquake in pakistan continues to climb as the search for survivors intensifies. we've got new video from some of the hardest hit areas showing them combing through the wreckage of collapsed homes. 348 confirmed dead, 500 injured. and now thousands homeless. the 7.7 magnitude quake struck southwestern pakistan tuesday. >> the national seismic monitoring center confirmed a new island in the arabian sea created tuesday. a number have raced throughout to see it. it's actually not a good idea.

and make sure you're aware of how dry it is and will be later on today. right now winds sustained at 16 miles per hour, up in fairfield, that's a pretty strong sustained speed. throughout afternoon the gusty wind we have to deal with like yesterday so calm and the winds pick up, then calm, then again strong winds picking up. gusty winds, 25-40-mile-per-hour gusts that are going to be the worst at the coast and through the north bay throughout this afternoon. we are expecting the winds now becoming more out of the north as opposed to the northwest that we saw yesterday. that's a drier flow. 74 degrees on the way to san jose. 75 for gilroy. comfortable in oakland. fremont as well, 69 in san francisco so we're getting beautiful beach weather at least for the next few days. temperatures at the beaches, comfortable on saturday, then another system coming through on sunday into monday.
