very calm today. the winds are not going to impact the game at all. we're tracking a system that's going to head this way as we head toward the middle part of this upcoming week and that will introduce showers to the forecast. we have been very dry across the bare area especially with the fires we saw yesterday. this is good news for us. we'll talk about that more. back to you. now to a developing story in the gulf of mexico. that's where tropical storm karen has stalled. it's still expected to move by the coast sometime tomorrow. strong winds are being seen in florida. the national hurricane center says karen remains more than 100 miles south of the coast. the maximum winds are about 40 miles per hour. here is a live look at the projected path and intensity of this storm. forecasters expect it to turn toward the northeast away from land. we have new developments in the government shutdown that's now in its fifth day.

while lawmakers fail to find way to reopen the government they did find common ground on one thing. bryan moore has the latest from washington. >> reporter: on day five of the government shutdown, a rare moment of bipartisan agreement. >> the bill is passed. >> reporter: house republicans and democrats unanimously voted to pay 800,000 federal furloughed workers but only after the government shutdown is over. >> why wouldn't we do that? >> reporter: senate democrats say they will report the bill and so will obama. they want the house gop to pass a clean spending bill. >> democrats are prepared to pass a republican budget for two months while negotiations continue. >> reporter: house democrats say they have 200 votes and enough republican votes to end the spending stand off. >> will you put your kcountry before your party? republicans are blames the impasse on democrats. >> what we're looking at is an

administration, a president, that seems to be unwilling to sit down and talk with us p tourists who came to see washington's national monuments aren't taking closed for an answer. they are finding ways to get around the barrier, unlike the lawmakers. >> the government shutdown continues to impact one of the bay area's biggest industries. tourists were turned again from national parks. the immediate effects being told the facilities such as alcatraz is disappointing. one canadian couple says alcatraz was the top of their

list. >> we are really disappointed. >> we both wanted to do it. come to find out two days ago it's closed. >> luckily most people we talk to say as we all know san francisco has a lot to offer and they won't let the shutdown ruin their trip. oakland police are searching for a gunman tonight who shot three people killing one of them near city hall. two officers were nearby and responded to the sound of gunshots at 1:30 this morning on broadway. the three victims were taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds. a woman was pronounced dead. officers say they are hopeful the shooting was caught on tape. >> having worked this area knowing that the bus line run through here. i'm aware they are hopefully being some video surveillance cameras. that's something our homicide investigators will look into. >> police say so far there's no motive for the shooting.

with less than a week to go before another potential bart strike we're getting update on negotiations. while both sides remain 90 million dollar on agreement, there is some progress. they met to talk about propos s proposals. bart employees could strike as early as friday. there's been some movement in wage negotiations. unions have lowered their offer from almost 7% to 5% for three years. bart is standing by the proposal of an annual 2.5% raise over four years. on the two-year anniversary of steve job's death apple took to twitter today to remember the icon. quote, second anniversary of steve's death 37 going on a long hike today and reflecting on his friendship and all the dents he made in the industry. he's wisely recognized as a

that's where the tracking is moving forward and put this thing into motion as we head towards wednesday. this is what you'll find. it's not going to be a complete washout like we saw a couple of weeks ago. some places got an inch of rain. this will be more of a nonevent, if you will. definitely something to focus on as we head toward the middle part of this week just because we've been so dry as we headed through this past season. for tomorrow, it will be a dry day but very warm once again. we're talking about temperatures a few degrees warmer. 88 in san jose. off towards the east bay, 940 in dublin. even close to the water. for tomorrow in san francisco very warm. 81 and 86 in oakland. the seven-day forecast does show showers we talked about. you'll notice a little bit of something for everybody as we head toward the seven day.
