the outside guy and put it down on the one yard line. so. >> al: so decker goes out. takes his helmet with him. caldwell comes in. you have moreno is in for the touchdown. knowshon moreno takes it just across the goal line. and ihenacho sets it up with the fumble, creates the fumble, gives manning the ball deep in indy territory and right now it's a seven-point game going on six. >> cris: third and six. peyton gave the signal on the outside and you can see cassius vaughn hesitated just enough on the pick. so many teams screw up those pick plays because they feel like they have to sort of make contact on the picks. the broncos much more sophisticated than that. they get in the way but they don't necessarily make contact. so they don't get the fouls that other teams get.

due in the latter stages of his career. run over 1,000 catches for his career last week. >> cris: you think of all the things that happened on that play. third and one. you go play action. you get reggie wayne wide open down the field. you miss the throw. and potentially lose reggie wayne in the process. >> al: and then as you look at it again, what happens to reggie going down. and at least he gets up right now. well, with some assistance. you wonder had they had a better running game tonight, maybe richardson on third and one go to richardson, they don't have him in the game. >> cris: they can't. after the fumble, they didn't trust him. go back to the fumble and how it may have impacted this play. here we go. we were trying to encourage people to hang in here with this game. but peyton manning, you know, just never goes away. the people will remember forever

looking around here now. not sure if laron landry says that thing is ours. peyton manning says let's get to the line of scrimmage here. >> al: we don't need any looks here at this. >> cris: chuck pagano with his hand on the flag. who comes up with it is the question. well, looks like -- it looks like it may have be a bronco that recovered it. it's one thing to win the challenge with a fumble. it's another thing to make sure that you recover the fumble. and that has to be clearly demonstrated. >> cris: but i think they said it was colt's ball on the field. >> al: they're ruling it colts ball on the field which would mean if that's the case -- and again we talked about hillman before and one of the problems -- it's been the problem, putting the ball on the ground.

>> referee: 76 reports as eligible. 76 is eligible. now they'll rule it -- they ruled it -- >> cris: the ball is out. there's no doubt about that. >> al: it's ruled a fumble. so the challenge would have to come from fox and since it's not clear, there's no challenge and indy gets the ball at the three yard line. >> cris: you don't want to give up those time-outs. >> al: no, you don't. and chugging forward is havili. he is not yet to start using those time-outs. under three to go and fox will use his first time-out right here. >> cris: it was kind of interesting on that fumble that you could see that hillman -- if he could just rolled over a bit he kind of had the ball pinned against his side, but it was against his body. there he goes. ball is out.

no doubt about it. now hillman is right there. and he's got his hand on it right there. kind of has it pinned into his body. you could almost make the case that he was down at that point and he had control but there the ball slips a little bit and moves and ultimately comes out. that would have been an interesting challenge. >> al: anquan bethea wound up with the football. so it's second down and eight. you've got two time outs remaining for denver plus the clock stop ang at two minutes. flag down in the end zone. >> referee: personal foul roughing the passer, number 99 defense. 15-yard penalty, automatic first down. >> al: vickerson. that is a killer. >> cris: i don't think vickerson was even close to him in the

back of the end zone. ball is out. oh my goodness. oh my goodness. he's saying you've got to be kidding me. you know, that's just a big man bumping into the quarterback. i just don't like that one. >> al: another personal foul on vickerson. it is first and ten at the 20 yard line. trent richardson backs in the game. this fumble gave denver major life. he gets stopped at the 21 yard line. now you have another time-out taken here with 2:43. denver is now down to one time-out and the two-minute warning. >> cris: but that penalty call was huge because you had an incomplete pass. the clock is going to stop. you're going to save a time-out. >> al: one other thing on the hillman fumble just to make this perfectly clear. we talk about fox could have challenged. but fox could have challenged was that he was down before the

ball came out. it was already rheumed a fumble and then the recovery. you can't -- he couldn't have challenged the recovery at that point. so he knew that he would have lost the challenge because the ball was clearly out. even though there was some question as to who had the ball at the end of the play. so second down and nine now at the 21 yard line. here is richardson who goes nowhere again but at least he holds on to the football. and now denver will take its final time-out. so it's third and eight. they have to stop them here to get the ball back and the clock would stop at the two-minute warning and then you could run it tall way down. and then they would need a touchdown and a field goal.
