i'm richard lui. another day, another country outrained over nsa surveillance. this time germany. wednesday chancellor angela merkel called president obama. the u.s. ally asked him point-blank in the u.s. spy agency isthatting her cell phone. if so, she said, it would be an unacceptable breach of trust. merkel's suspicions reportedly coming from the german magazine "der spiegel" tra provided articles from edward snowden. >> i can tell you that the president assured the chancellor we are not monitoring their communications. >> germany is especially sensitive. it has tight privacy laws. so much so that when google tried to implement street views of homes, germans insisted on the right to blur. germany's outrage is now added to anger from france, mexico and brazil over reports of alleged nsa snooping. a community is mourning the loss of a young teacher who is

murdered at school this morning -- rather at school and this morning one of her students just 14 years old is held for her killing. nbc's chris palone has a story from a town right outside of boston. >> reporter: at danvers high school in a sleepy suburb of boston an outpouring of support and emotion. students coming together to mourn a young teacher, 24-year-old colleen ritzer, a math instructor who was killed and left in some woods just yards from her classroom. >> she was always making everyone else's day better than hers whether she was happy or not, very uplifting to all of the students there. >> reporter: it happened tuesday night. one of ritzer's students, 14-year-old philip chism is charged with murder. the criminal complaint says a police interview with chism and security video at the school led them to charge him with the crime. chism moved here recently from tennessee. classmates say he was on the soccer team. >> he just seemed normal. there was a lot of quiet people in our school. we didn't expect anything light, though. no one did. >> reporter: if police know why

ritzer was killed, they are not saying just yet. >> colleen dedicated her life to bet you are our town and our children in the community. our thoughts and prayers are with her family during this tragic time. >> reporter: ritzer had been teaching just two years but was popular with parents and students often sharing words of inspiration on twitter. in one of her last tweets she said "find something good in every day." as they deal with their grief people in this boston suburb are having a hard time doing that right now. chris palone, nbc news, danvers, massachusetts. later today congress begins a series of hearings on the troubled obama care website. the head of the company hired to build healthcare.gov goes before the house. this as the administration begins taking some friendly fire. at least six senate democrats, five of which are up for re-election next year are calling for changes in the law. those public defections came after congressional briefing on issues related to the website. west virginia's joe manchin took the strongest approach backing legislation to delay the laws'

individual mandate for at least one year. currently $95 finds kick in for anyone who does not enroll in time. the white house reaffirming the march 31st deadline saying people must sign up by then but coverage can start later. infamous cousin of the kennedys will get a new murder trial. michael skakel was convicted in 2002 of murdering a teenage friend nearly three decades prior. but a connecticut judge set aside that verdict on wednesday. he said the nephew of the late robert f. kennedy did not have proper legal representation at trial. martha moxley was beat with a golf club in 1975 after leaving a halloween party at the skakel home. both were 15-year-olds at that time. skakel was found guilty of killing her in 2002. he had maintained he is innocent. doctors believe they put a baby with hiv into remission. the girl was infected in the womb but still shows no sign of infection. she's now 3 years old and has been off medications for 18

months. doctors treated her unusually aggressively just 30 hours after her birth but the doctors are cautious here and stop short of calling it a cure. they do not know what proof or how much time is needed to declare someone free of hiv. the new report was published by "the junk journal of medicine." the red sox dominating game one of the world series. in the first inning a botched call and david ortiz, big papi hitting a grounder. dustin pedroia runs for inc. is. as the shortstop bobbled the ball the umpire said he's out. red sox skipper is steaming mad, the umps talk it out and reverse the call. later bases loaded. mike napoli clears the bases giving boston a 3-0 lead. big papi laterer bases loaded robbed of a grand slam thanks to carlos beltran with the great steal but it cost him a bit here. he is sent to the hospital with a confusion near his rib cage. his condition makes him day to day. look at that catch.

welcome back. london police have released video of a brutal june attack on a student from florida. the 22-year-old was left with scars on his face and head. police believe he was attacked simply because he was not a local. the man who used the internet to confess killing someone while drunk driving was sentenced to 6 1/2 years in prison wednesday. the judge also suspended matthew cordle's driving privileges for life because he took a plea deal, there is no chance of early release. a woman in italy was shocked to find out the source of her facial pain. look at this picture. it was from a dental implant stuck in her sinus. the dislodged metal screw was successfully removed. the woman is doing fine.

welcome back. all the great weather lately we've been talking about. the last two days in seattle much cooler than the rest of everyone else in the west, you've been locked in low clouds. only 55 degrees in seattle. i don't think today will be much different, unfortunately, so we'll still call it mostly cloudy. hopefully break out with more sunshine and get the temperatures warmer. everywhere else we're looking plenty warm. still we have that upper level low kicking through the desert southwest near albuquerque tomorrow that may give you showers or storms. that's the only raindrops on the map as pretty much what you see
