the highland hospital in oakland with an update on both of their conditions g. morning. >> reporter: good morning to you. the latest information we have on that woman is that she is still in critical condition here at the highland hospital this morning. as you said, after she jumped from the third deck of o.co coliseum after the raiders game ended yesterday. what's amazing is the good samaritan who stepped in and broke her fall and pleaded with her not to jump. this is a photo from the associated press of deputies walking in that area after the 50-foot fall. the area she was in was covered by tarp. outside the coliseum a spokesperson for the sheriff's department said that the man saved her life. no doubt. the man stepped in to try and break her fall. he is a 61-year-old man, a marine corps, he was on the second deck concourse. this happened minutes after the game ended with the raiders

leaving to the titans. the man also injured but he was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive. reporting live in oakland, christie smith, "today in the bay." >> appreciate the report. >> it's 5:02. today civil rights activists push for felony charges against four students accused of a hate crime at san jose state university. good morning. >> good morning. naacp officials from both silicon valley and hawaii are the driving force behind today's rally. the president of san jose state will be there as well and he is expected to talk about the pending criminal charges. the campus rocked by the alleged racially motivated hate crimes against a single black student in one of the dorms. four white student, one 19, two 18 and another younger than 18, are charged with misdemeanor hate crime and battery against their black roommate.

prosecutors say the four used racial slurs, hung a confederate flag in the dorm, barricaded the victim in his room and placed a bike lock around his neck and claimed to have lost the key. now naacp leaders are urging the district attorney to increase the charges from misdemeanor to felonies, and add a charge of false imprisonment. over the weekend the d.a. telling the "mercury news" he believes his office has filed the, quote, appropriate charges in this case, based upon the evidence. again, this rally is scheduled for noon at the tommy smith john carlos statue. coming up we'll hear from a couple of san jose state students about how this incident is affecting the morale on campus. that's about 5:35. >> we'll look forward to that. thank you. >> menlo park police searching for whoever opened fire on two children and their mother as they sat in a parked car. this happened about 2:00

yesterday afternoon on madera avenue at ivy drive off willow road. police say the suspects drove by and then fired several shots at that car. the suspect vehicle is described as a black or dark green sedan, possibly a honda. nobody was hurt. >> happening now thousands of pg&e customers are without power about five years after a wire went down in daly city. the outage was reported in the west lake nibld west of mission street. it happened before 12:30 and initially more than 6700 people were without power. right now there are more than 1500 without electricity. >> air force one touching down in san francisco a few hours from now for a fundraising trip by president obama. but the reality is with a sinking approval rating things so far not going exactly as planned. bob redell is live in san

francisco with more on the president's five-hour bay area trip. good morning. >> reporter: good morning to you. a little perspective. when president obama last visited the bay area this was back in june, according to the gallup poll of his nationwide approval rating at 62%. today he's at 39%, and even here in san francisco, obviously leans democratic, the enthusiasm is cooling. you can see that in the ticket sales, schedule forward this afternoon at the sf jazz center. at one points tickets were $1,000 a pop. the democratic committee cut them to $500 since it was not selling out. >> i think what that means is there are only so many leaves to pick on the money tree, and when you come back so often and you want to squeeze that orange for extra orange juice sometimes you're not going to come up with a lot in the end. >> reporter: a handful of people

are already protesting the president's visit, holding up signs outside the jazz center, particularly upset with the policy on drones. first the president will come here in china town we're at now where in a few hours he will deliver a speech on immigration reform, speculation that the president is trying to move the national kfrls away from what's the problematic rollout of his health care plan. bob redell, "today in the bay." >> as always we appreciate the report. the president's trip will be five hours. he will arrive at about 10:30. at 11:30 he will be at the betty aung rec center for his immigration speech. then at 12:30 a fundraising luncheon at the san francisco jazz center. his last event will be a tech roundtable for vips. that starts at 2:00.

it's 5:12 now. a viral video encouraging young girls to pursue engineering and science the subject of a legal fight. ♪ we showed it to you on friday as well. this is that ad for goldie blocks which is founded by debby sterling. the song in the ad is a spin-off of that song by the beasty boys called girls. beasty boys are threatening the company with a copyright infringement lawsuit. goldie blocks claiming the spin-off song is a parody and criticism of the original song. >> always dicey when it comes down to rights. more criticism against the growth of tech in san francisco. coming from a former mayor.

>> the former mayor willie brown who writes a column for the chronicle. in sunday's issue his honor made a quick mention of the growing tech industry causing rents to sky rocket and changing the character of the city. he wrote from rising rents to rising prices at restaurants to private buses the tech world is becoming an object of scorn. it is only a matter of time before the techies youthful luster fades and they are seen as just another extension of wall street. now w have seen some protests against tech, this was the scene outside twitter headquarters the morning that company went public. twitter gets special tax breaks to locate in depressed area of the city. it wasn't the first to get the tax break but the deal got the name the twitter tax break. seems like an awkward time to check the markets. shortened trading week.

holidays. you know what, a lot of people have family coming into town. i'm happy to report they will have safe travels as far as the weather goes but things change on thanksgiving day. we'll get into that in a moment. it's cold to start the day. 32 degrees at freezing in the north bay. we have fallen into the low 40s, south bay, peninsula and east bay san francisco at a chilly 44 degrees to start. so make sure you bring out the coat as you wake up with us this morning. i want to talk about what we're expecting throughout the next couple hours. we'll see frost this morning, sonoma, napa and santa rosa. the windshield gets colder so count on a little frost out there. petaluma and gilroy also fair game for frost. then things start to change a. rebound headed our way. high pressure still in control. that means plenty of mid-60s across the bay area. really no difference between what we expect in sausalito and fremont, for example. 64 in sausalito, 67 degrees in

pleasanton. microclimates not making a big appearance. a storm system moving towards us. stop the clock on futurecast. we expect the widespread rainfall for the bay area as we head throughout thursday afternoon for the most part, so keep that in mind. but the showers are going to come up from the south moving to the north. the further to the north you live the less likely you are to see any of that shower activity. nonetheless keep it in mind. a lot of people like to throw the football around thanksgiving afternoon. it my be problematic with showers. for the seven-day forecast at the bottom of your screen all morning long. let's check your drive. >> good morning. we'll take you out to a lighter volume of traffic. we'll likely see that for this week's morning commute. the middle of the day is going to see more traffic around the bay. a nice flow right now no. problems with the peninsula. the south bay, and the issues, a blitz of yellow. down to 58 miles per hour. chp reports no problems over the santa cruz mountains.

we'll zoom into the only area we saw orange and yellow. this orange northbound 680 there are no incidents reported sunol into fremont, pleasanton. we'll track that but so far an adjustment on the sensors. we're looking at southbound livermore itself. 84 starting to bog down. and coming out of the altamont pass. that's a typical build. we'll continue to track that so we look at the build out of the east bay and the tri-valley. 24 over to the caldecott tunnel. the orange it is registering fog in the north bay. north of san rafael. a live look. you see not a problem as far as visibility for drivers through the area but be on the alert especially tying that together our traffic and our weather systems together. southbound, light volume of traffic starting to build for the north bay, easy across the golden gate bridge and the peninsula. northbound, passing university and willow, you got the limit and easy drive fast san mateo

bridge. >> thank you. it's 5:18 now. one of the women held captive for years in what became known as cleveland's house of horrors set to write a tell-all book. michelle knight was tortured, starved, raped and beaten for 11 years by aerial castro. her book is scheduled to come out next spring and will be co-written by michelle buford who worked on gabby douglas' memoir. castro was sentenced to life and 1,000 years but ended up killing himself in his cell back in september. the guy was a monster and a coward. his two other victims we can tell you they are also planning books of their own. >> it's 5:19. a southern california city could decide to convert some beach fire pits to natural gas. the council will take up the issue today. beach bonfires are controversial because burning wood contributes to air pollution. the they are considering a pilot

program to test gas fire pits. opponents say wood burning bonfires are part of the southern california tradition. >> a report for you, millions of americans are leaving the u.s. to tour other countries and get medical procedures. even u.s. businesses and some health care providers are considering outsourcing medical tourism as a health care option. this is big business. the critics argue can still come at a cost. u.s. companies like united group program anthem blue cross and blue shield are exploring medical tourism as part of their coverage. dr. james robinson is a professor at the uc-berkeley center for health technology. he says while there are economic benefits to medical travel all health care is not created equal. >> the top of the market in other countries is as good as the top of the market here. the middle of the market is something in other countries is not as good as the middle of the market here. >> tonight you can see investigative reporter's full

this morning with more on the president's five-hour bay area visit. good morning. >> reporter: very quick trip here to the bay area. good morning to you. one democratic political consultant that we spoke with wonders aloud if the president's trying to escape his sinking approval numbers coming to san francisco which has been very friendly to democrats but seems that the city by the bay is even losing some of its enthusiasm for the president. you can see this in the sales, the ticket sales for today's fundraising lunch that will be with the president, scheduled for this afternoon at the sf jazz center. at one point the tickets were $1,000 but they were cut to $500 since the fund-raiser was not selling out. frustration among supporters over the problematic rollout of obama care. you look at the polling numbers, his visit in june, the approval rating at 62%, but since the glitches with the healthcare.gov

then it's off to a fund-raiser at the san francisco jazz center. before he leaves the bay area he will go to a roundtable at the home of sales force ceo mark benihoff. he is expected to face tough questions. >> yeah, even donors reporting shelling out $32,000, jon, for a tech roundtable, may have a beef with the commander in chief. the fund-raiser's host told "the boston globe," quote, clearly everyone in silicon valley is extremely disappointed with how the obama care website has gone. i think it will dominate the conversation. truly people are upset. it will be an intense conversation. now, that's just one problem the tech has with the formerly favored president. add the nsa debacle mark zuckerberg said the u.s. had blown it on surveillance. google engineers got upset they posted blogs with words we can't

the people below tried to stop her and a man on the second deck tried to catch her. he was hurt and is in the hospital in stable condition. the woman also in the hospital in critical condition. christie smith is talking to investigators and coliseum officials. she'll have a live update at 6:00. >> a disturbance at a denny's leaves an officer injured and man under arrest. this happened in san jose about midnight at the denny's on north first street and brokaw road about a block from the casino may drix. you can see in the video the man police arrested in the center of this photo, the management telling police that the man was asleep in the restaurant and wouldn't leave. police say when they arrived the man physically resisted arrest, they managed to get him in handcuffs but as they were walking down the sloped walkway t man lashed out. both the suspect and the officer fell over. at this hour it's unclear exactly how badly the officer

really zone in on for you this morning, is out here in the pacific. it's not really going to move in until we hit thursday afternoon. but i do want to show you there's a lot of question marks around this area of low pressure. will it tap into some tropical moisture. if it does we could just get poured on on thanksgiving day. i've been watching everything and i can tell you now it looks like we'll pick up maybe a few hundredths of an inch. not expecting a lot to the south of the golden gate bridge. thursday afternoon. nonetheless we'll be watching this. let's check your drive. >> good morning. because of that thanksgiving going on this week we see a shift in the commute for the most part in the later hours, right now the bay bridge toll plaza looks like a typical monday. cash lanes backing up. we may see metering lights turned on in the next 10 minutes or so. we'll track that and your approach. a smooth drive on our speed sensors, out of the north bay a smooth flow. the 680/24 interchange.

>> welcome back everyone. it's 5:43. we're expecting to hear more reaction to the deal freezing iran's nuclear program. the u.s. and five other nations struck an agreement over the weekend, a lot of skepticism in washington and israel. tracie potts live on capitol hill with what lawmakers are saying. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. israel's prime minister benjamin netanyahu call this is an historic mistake, and that same sentiment is echoed on capitol hill. not just from republicans but from some of the president's closest allies. democrats who say they are not sure iran will actually follow through on this deal. for that reason some lawmakers are already talking about a backup package of sanctions just in case iran doesn't hold up its end of the bargain.

the interim deal that was struck in geneva with several countries including iran, which says that they will stop construction on a nuclear reactor, scale back their current stockpile of enriched uranium but allows them to continue enriching uranium at a lower level. in exchange iran gets access to 7 billion in frozen assets, and possibly more if they are able to come up with a permanent deal in six months. laura. >> one to watch. thank you, tracie. >> some intense and controversial results being released today surrounding the deadly shootings at sandy hook elementary in newtown, connecticut. that report coming out at noon today and will summarize the results of that investigation, but we can tell you certain evidence will not be released. investigators have released a little more than search warrants so fafr. they have not released a timeline of police response,

63 degrees in walnut creek. 67 on the way to pleasanton with changes headed our way. so for today, mild and sunny, 60s, the most of the bay area. as we head through tomorrow, slightly warmer finish, then into your wednesday that's when the clouds will start to thicken up as the storm system starts to move closer to the bay area. so we do have an afternoon shower chance as we head throughout wednesday, mostly in the south bay. the better chance arrives throughout thursday afternoon. we stop is the clock, you can see the showers moving to the north. by 10:00 a.m. most of the bay area getting light activity. we expect the bulk of the moisture to come through as we head through about 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. on thanksgiving day. still delicious, mike. it will still be delicious. over to you. >> goes as planned i'll be asleep on the couch right about then. enjoy it out on the roads. we have traffic freezing up and so is our shot.

he was sleetic director. taught several subjects. p.e. to wood shop to math. whatever they needed him to do. >> his colleagues say he had opportunities to coach in the nfl including an offer to work under 49ers coach phil walsh. his focus was on student athletes. a vigil is planned in his honor. >> this week thousands of families in the bay area will get a free thanksgiving meal. starting today sacred heart will give away boxes of food with a turkey or ham to 1500 families. the nonprofit hoping to hand out to nearly 4,000 people. >> we are about 1,000 short. we know we can get through today and expect a big drive tomorrow of turkeys but getting past that is stuff. so we hope to get 1,000 more.

i want to tell you a little about black friday, or should say black thursday. days away but people in the south bay guess what, they are getting out camping out for all of the unbeatable barn bursters, holiday bargains. these two set up their tent outside the best buy in san jose. they did it this weekend to claim that first spot in the line. why are they doing it? they are doing it for all of the door buster deals on cheap flat screens and computers, they have their folding chairs and warm blankets, i guess a snuggy or two. cheering them on. here are some snacks. >> my gosh. well, that is dedication for a deal. microsoft says it sold as many of the new x boxes as sony did play stations.
