injuries and he said no. a couple of minutes ago, i did see paramedics push a stretcher down the street there. there are a number of people standing around in robes waiting for information. again, when i just walked down there, it did look like firefighters finally were getting a handle on this. that's the latest reporting live in alameda, christie smith, "today in the bay." >> today, the day before thanksgiving, one of the biggest travel days of the year, weather out on the east coast causing some major concern for millions of travelers. a strong winter storm pummeling a lot of areas there. the storm could also impact that macy's day parade. forecasters at this point think that storm will bring snow, rain, and sustained winds of 20 miles per hour with gusts of nearly 40 miles per hour right there in new york city.

nbcbayarea.com, just search weather. at 4:34. the teenager whose skirt was set on fire aboard an a.c. transit bus will be home for thanksgiving. sasha fleischmann has been recovering from third-degree burns for the past several weeks, 16-year-old richard thomas set the young girl's skirt on fire. they filed a motion to have him prosecuted as a child, not as an adult. sasha's family agrees saying thomas should be tried as a juvenile. we have new details on a crash involving a san francisco fire truck and a motorcyclist. the district attorney investigating charges against the firefighter who appeared to be drunk behind the wheel. we have new video showing the crash. you can see the fire truck enter that intersection of fifth and hour before slamming right into jack frazer sending him sliding

across the street. his attorney says his client was seriously hurt and right now is still recovering from the injure ryes. you can see him here. the department determined he was, in fact, driving drunk when he hit frazer. frazer's attorneys say they hope the incident puts & to drinking in firehouses. >> we are confident this is a very, very small minority of the fire department but it all has to end, period. >> the department handed out suspension notices to five other firefighters involved in the crash holding them responsible for his conduct. the firefighters say they plan to appeal the suspensions. the family of an 18-year-old san jose man shot to death is holding a car wash to try to raise money for his funeral. he was gunned down in capital park sunday afternoon. the gang unit is beefing up patrols in and around the park.

cortez' family says he was not a gang member but his killing happened in an area that is gang territory. this morning, neighbors and church leaders are saying they need to get more involved to stop the violence and keep their community safe. >> senseless violence. people are hurting and my message would be, don't do something foolish that you are going to regret the rest of your life. >> the car wash fund-raiser will be held at 10:00 this morning at james lick high school. san francisco police on the lookout for a man that threw a woman's belongings into the bay is long with a pet carrier and two cats inside. they had to hold the woman back from jumping into the water. sadly, both cats died. animal control only has a vague description of the man, six foot tall, a white man wearing a black hoodie riding a skateboard. >> we need this suspect. that's who we need. we need him desperately. come and tell us anything, even

the slight test thing, like i saw a tattoo on his hand or i saw what color tennis shoes he was wearing. it is not clear if the suspect knew the woman truckers at the port of oakland are not on the job today. they are out protesting what they consider unsafe working conditions. this marks the third work stoppage this year. workers want shorter lines and more efficient terminals at the port. they say they have to sit around for hours in the terminal breathing in all those exhaust fumes with no bathrooms out there and with no pay. the truckers are independent contractors and cannot join or form a traditional union to try and bargain for better deals. food and retail workers at the oakland airport will be out picketed today. they say their employer is going back on contract negotiations. workers have been in contract negotiations with their employer, host international, for a year. a union spokesperson says they make between $9.75 and $12.64

and host international's latest proposal would freeze their pay for five years, eliminate pensions, paid meal breaks and overtime pay. the union and airports have agreed not to strike tomorrow during thanksgiving. that would be a big help to all. busy times out there. a lot of people hitting the roads. we want to check the forecast with meteorologist, christina loren. >> you are one of the people i tip my hat to you. it can be a tough, tough go on the day before thanksgiving. here in the bay area, your local travel is looking really good, even if you are heading up to the north bay from the south bay. looking pretty good for today and tomorrow wechlt have light showers on the way. i'm going to talk about that coming up in a little bit. this morning, nice and clear. temperatures are mostly in the 40s. as we head throughout the afternoon, we are going to climb into the mid-60s yet again. it is going to be just about as warm as where we ended up

head to whitehouse.gov and find out favorite food and favorite song and type of walk. >> it is like a heavyweight showdown. >> vote for the bird you think should be this year's national thanksgiving turkey. a proud walk on one. later, the president will take part in the national hanukkah menorah lighting. it simulates the lighting of the first night of the festival of lights. this is the first time hanukkah has overlapped with thanksgiving. it won't happen again for thousands of years. the ceremony will take place at the national mall. while you are out hitting the stores on black friday, you may want to pick out a couple of extra toys for a very good cause. that's because walmart is teaming up with the salvation army to launch the fill the truck toy drive. the goal here is to deliver toys to hundreds of thousands of children all across the country. the drive kicks off on friday and runs through december 5th.

yesterday. meanwhile, ford is recalling 161,000 of those 2013 model es skate suvs worldwide to fix problems that could lead to fires. ford has reported 13 fires in the u.s. and canada that were caused when cylinder heads cracked because of overheating allowing oil to leak on to the hot engine. the recall ford escape equipped with a 1.6 litre ecoboost engine. on the car front, car dealers want in on the black friday action. they are saving some of their best deals to try to lure shoppers out of the malls and into their showrooms. gm is offering black friday cash discounts on all cadillac models and $5,000 off a gmc sierra 1500 crew cab pickup. ford's website is offering 1,000 on a pre-paid master card on use on a new car or holiday shopping. hyundai is offering zero percent financing on several alantra

all week. san francisco is going to wake up with a much clearer sky. we have had all that haze situated over the bay. we have fallen out of the bad air quality range. temperatures are going to be pretty comfortable today. we are going to end up in the mid to upper 60s because of the milder start. we do have low clouds kind of offshore, high and mid-level clouds streaming in at this point. we are going to see another mostly cloudy day similar to what we had yesterday. we are holding up on the showers until we hit thanksgiving day. south bay, we will see the upper 60s. same for the peninsula. nice, comfortable day for you. we will hit about 66. in napa, east bay open, looking at 65. out in pleasanton, really nice the day before thanks giving at 69, almost 70 degrees out there. let's talk about your thanksgiving forecast. these showers are not looking that promising anywhere to the north of the golden gate bridge. i can tell you i think the best chance is going to be in the
