christina, did you have a great christmas? >> i did. i hope everybody got what they wanted for christmas, if not you are probably one of the thousands returning today. we have a lot of people who will be headed out and about to shop. i can tell you temperatures are going to be unseasonably warm. potential record breaking day yet again. right now we're starting in the 40s, a spare the air day. we'll go deeper into the forecast coming up. i want to check on your drive post christmas. i noticed a lot of people out there. >> a lot of folks have work to make up for so get out to the work we're doing now. north bay, southbound 101, here the curve, an easy drive. we have one incident on the maps, southbound 101 around 131 down through marin county. a crash out of the roadway and no major issues on that side of the bay. across the richmond/san rafael bridge, we might see a few more cars but probably nothing like the normal commute. we'll keep track. we're approaching when people

take vacation and some rush to the office. >> it's 4:31. two men suffering from what firefighters call critical burns after a house went up in flames. more than 100 firefighters were called to the home on baker street last night. it's next to golden gate park. firefighters say it appears it started on the third floor of the home. while crews worked to put out the flames they found two older men in the house by the front door. officials say the men who were apparently trying to get out of the home were badly burned and rushed to the hospital. neighbors say the victims had spent several years restoring the home. >> christmas, very sad. very beautiful house. this couple here that lived here put a lot of work and time and love into that house. it's really sad to see this happen. i hope they are okay. >> the cause is under investigation. >> >> police in newark are asking for the public's help finding the person who broke into a

family's home and stole the presents from under the tree. it happened at a house on cherry street not far from newark junior high school. the family didn't realize the gifts were gone until the children woke up and rushed to the tree. detectives believe that the robbery may be related to other recent burglaries in the area. the police pooled together $100 and the association matched that and delivered $200 to the family. >> it's 4:33. the search is on for suspects in two shootings hours apart in antioch. the first happened yesterday afternoon just before 2:00 p.m. three men reportedly drove up in a vehicle and tried to rob a 19-year-old man walking west on rock island drive. the victim fought back but was shot in the chest. then three miles away at 3:00 p.m. a 26-year-old man walking on west 19th street near the fair grounds was shot in the leg. also by suspects in a car. both victims were taken to the hospital. no word on their condition this

morning. >> family members could decide whether to appeal a judge's decision allowing children's hospital oakland to take 13-year-old jahi mcmath off life support. her family wanted to give the teen as normal a christmas as possible so they put a christmas tree and presents in her hospital room. the teen has been on a ventilator since december 9 after complications during a tonsillectomy. the judge has ordered support for her until 5:00 monday. >> a judge will hear arguments to keep city college accreditation intact. the city attorney and the federation of teachers want injunctions to keep the school from losing its accreditation. if their request is not granted the college will be deaccredited next summer. the commission wants to revoke it because it says the school has not done enough to fix financial and educational problems. >> the highway patrol is out in full force for the holiday season cracking down on unsafe

drivers. nbc bay area joined for a ride along. immediately witnessed a hit and run crash that sent two people to the hospital. officers are warning people not to drink and drive. >> you just got to know what you're getting yourself into and you had some drinks, have a designated driver. don't try to push. oh, i feel okay to drive i'm going to try or i think i slept it off. that's what we run into is people who think they are sober. >> increased enforcement and dui checkpoints will continue through the new year. >> a well known homeless center in san francisco is looking for a new home of its own. after 12 years of helping young people in need the city's homeless youth alines shut its doors yesterday. the shelter says the landlord decided not to renew the lease. officials are looking for a new place to take up shelter. >> we've been in this building for 12 years. and it's possibly the most stable and consistent thing that

with an update on the fire investigation. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. as we mentioned there are still firefighters out here, many hours after the fire started and there were at least 115 here at one point because these old victorian homes are mostly made of wood and you can see they are so close together so firefighters made this a three-alarm fire quickly to try and get as many people out here as possible. still even with that, one home next door at 620 baker street did have a little bit of fire damage. but the fire at the main home 618 baker broke out last night before 9:00. it was a difficult fight for them because when they arrived there were flames and smoke pouring out of the back of this four-story home. now they say it appear that the fire started on the third story of the house, and once they were able to get inside they did find two older men in the home with serious burns, then appea
