a little slowing on the sensors because there is the cone zone. you saw the light volume of traffic. we expect more folks to hit the east shore freeway. the commute right now moving but watch as folks get back to work and school. back to you. >> thank you. breaking news in san francisco where police are investigating a deadly stabbing. it happened on market street between gulf and octavia. the victim was found after 3:00 this morning and pronounced dead at the scene. police have not released information about who might have done it. we have a crew on the way. we'll bring you the latest information as soon as possible. >> the oakland girl declared brain dead after complications from surgery has been removed from children's hospital oakland after weeks of disagreement between the family and the hospital. christie smith is live in oakland this morning. the question remains where is jahi? >> reporter: good morning to you. jahi mcmath was released quietly to her family around 8:00 last

night from oakland's children's hospital. her uncle and family attorney did not say where she was being taken. they say the family received death threats over this so at this point the location is unknown. the the family did release cell phone video of the ambulance as it left the hospital with the teenager. the chief of pediatrics says the hospital released her body to the coroner who released it to her mother under court order. jahi's uncle said that the transfer was paid mor with online donations that totaled about $47,000. >> we're very grateful, very proud, we want to thank everyone that supported us, everyone that was in our corner, that prayed for us, everyone that helped donate to make this possible. without you guys none of this would be possible. jahi mcmath has been taken from children's hospital and brought to a place where they will use her name instead of calling her a body, and where she can get to

the starting line instead of where children's has left her for the past four weeks almost at the finish line. >> reporter: after she was released from the hospital, the hospital released a statement saying in part, our hearts go out to the family as they grieve for this sad situation and we wish them closure and peace. jahi as you may recall was declared brain dead on december 12, three days after she had procedures meant to help her breathe. she suffered pleading and went into cardiac arrest. the family believes there is a possibility she can recover and they do not think that she died. requests for a feeding tube were denied. both sides were due in court on tuesday before a court order keeping her on a ventilator expired. the hospital is saying given the circumstances they don't think that appearance will be necessary. reporting live in oakland, christie smith, "today in the

the single digits today. wind chills of 30 below. by this afternoon. >> the is nice making the roads so dangerous the mayor up dating the level to red. this means it's illegal to drive unless it's an emergency situation or if someone is looking for shelter. the frigid temperatures are being caused by what's called a polar vortex stretching from montana to alabama. 25 states are experiencing temperatures of zero and below, some of the coldest conditions in decades. >> temperatures that are potentially deadly or certainly life altering. >> pay attention to your neighbors, take care of them. >> weather not expected to warm until later this week. until then officials urge people to stay inside, saying frostbite can happen in minutes. schools are closed in several states as well including three in joplin, missouri. the campuses were supposed to open this morning after being

destroyed by an ef 5 tornado. they were rebuilt and will be home to more than 1300 students once that weather clears. >> severe weather is having a direct impact here. more than a dozen flights are canceled with more expected. at least 60 flights will cancel at sfo yesterday. several passengers weren't just delayed, they were stranded. told they won't be able to get to their destination for at least a day. as always check your flight status before heading to the airport. >> did you see the game? >> who didn't. >> good point. >> we're wearing red. >> 49ers are waking up warmer back in the bay area. of course they escaped the frozen tundra with a win. >> i don't know how they did it but the team arrived overnight. the weather didn't seem to bother colin kaepernick. he played the game sleeveless. he connected with vernon davis for the 28-yard touchdown.

welcome back everyone. a good monday morning to you. we finally know who was behind the crop circles that popped up at a farm. it wasn't aliens. never thought it was. nvidia chip maker claiming the credit. the company says it plowed through the farm to get publicity for its new chip. some spotted the numbers 1, 9, 2, in the design. that represents the company's new mobile chip which will be introduced at the consumer electronics show in las vegas. >> congress heads back to work today. the senate could be voting on extending benefits for the long term unemployed. more than 1 million lost their benefits last month after the program was removed as part of the budget compromise with the house. the emergency benefits were in response to the recession five years ago and helped more than a million americans with an average of $300 a week. >> denying that security is

on friday the dow closed up 29 points to 16,470. the nasdaq slipped 11 to 4132. the senate is poised to confirm janet yellen as the next fed chairman or chairwoman. they vote this evening. yellen who has been vice chair since 2010 would be the first woman to lead the central bank and replace ben bernanke who is stepping down at the end of the month. the latest tech gadget this is week at the consumer electronics show in las vegas. but it's not all about with big tvs and tiny phones. health care companies will show how important technology has become to their products. internet firms will be featured prominently with speeches by ceos. >> thanks so much. >> let's check the forecast now, you can't feel guilty about this good weather. you can't. i keep telling myself. >> no? >> let's not. >> got a clear conscience?

>> no, i don't. >> you know, you're right though. it's really, really hard. you're looking at what's happening in the midwest, the east coast, talking about temperatures even down in the deep south, new orleans for example, in the 30s for today as a high. it's going to be cold across the nation. for us we're talking about a climb out of the 40s into the 60s, even close to 70 degrees. let me show you where we expect that via your microclimate forecast for this monday. here we go. bay area right now mostly clear conditions, the clouds are really going to increase. but not between 1 and 3. watch. this i stop the clock at 1:00 p.m. we're mostly cloudy. 69 degrees in places like the south bay, we expect the warmest temperatures. the peninsula and san francisco more clouds. temperatures reach the mid-60s. a beautiful day out in the north bay, 67 degrees in santa rosa, 67 a nice day there.

ice says the wind may change direction this morning and that could help both the chinese and the russian vessels move through it. the russian vessel became trapped on christmas eve. the chinese vessel on thursday after rescuing the crew on the russian ship. the u.s. coast guard discharged the polar star to help. the ice maker left australia over the weekend but not expected to arrive for a week. >> a quick turn around for dennis rodman, he is back in north korea. his plane landed this morning in north korea where he and another former nba player scheduled to play an exhibition game to celebrate kim jong-un's birth day. he just got back on december 23 and refused to say whether he met up with un during that trip. he set out from his beijing hotel. >> open the doors, you know, people come and say hey, north

span of the bay bring there. beautiful monday morning. a lot of bay area sports fans focus on the 49ers. let's not forget the red hot golden state warriors, atop their division along side the l.l. a l.a. clippers. last night a win over the wizards. the warriors won nine straight games, that's the most in a single season for the team since 1975. they look to extend that to 10 tomorrow night in milwaukee. >> and a thriller for the sharks looking to win for the first time in chicago in three seasons. they trailed by one late into the third. brent burns tied it up at two goals apiece. a shootout and joe pavelski comes through sealing the victory over the blackhawks. the sharks on the way to nashville tomorrow night. >> let's check in with mike right now, see what's going on. he was saying this is going to
