of traffic. we'll look at also the south bay. we have a live shot. this is san jose northbound, 101 under the interchange and easier drive as christina said, so we don't have the wet roads, a smooth drive, then back to you. >> thanks a lot, mike. >> in hours the san francisco 49ers will head east for the playoff game. they have a pit stop in san jose. >> they got to feed the pit. bob redell is live in the willow glenn neighborhood where they see a local deli as a good luck charm. >> reporter: good morning to you. you're talking about lavilla. the onus is on the people here because in the next couple hours they have got quite a big order to fill. we're talking over 70 sandwiches for the coaches and the players. this has been a ritual before they head up on a road trip. what they have been doing for
5:04 am
several road trips creating what's known as chris's special. it's a favorite of the team. they rely on it for them to get them i guess a little juiced, before they head on the road. basically christmas combo, it's a off the menu special. turkey, ham, italian meat and cheese on a roll, apparently this is to die for. it is name affidavit chris bert icelli. we're going to hopefully maybe catch up later with chris. i want to see how they fill zp orders in such a short amount of time before the 49ers take off later. for carolina where on sunday they will be taking on the panthers. the last time they played the panthers was home at candlestick in november. and the panthers did beat the niners, 10-9, in that season game for 2013. yesterday we caught up with one
5:05 am
of the coaches and the players and what they were saying is yes, they lost but they are not going to let that but in the way of their mind-set. >> that's a long time ago. we're going to be playing a game sunday, we're a different outfit than we were that day. and we'll be playing in the land far, far away. >> intensive for this game. i want folks, we got a good group of guys here, have been around here. this was a tough game. i'm looking forward. >> if the niners beat the panthers they advance to the championship graham they take on either the seahawks or the saints depending who wins that this weekend as well. the winner of that goes on to the super bowl. reporting live in yilow glenn, bob redell "today in the bay." >> local stores are stocking shelves as they continue their

5:08 am
san jose collecting evidence, patrolling and trying to prevent starts or fires the next couple days. >> you guys got a call, jumped down the road and there was another place on fire that we're in front of. >> right. there has been a total of four small events here, and had to go to all four and extinguish all four. the property damage has been minimal and no one injured. it's concerning and suspicious and we're in full investigation mode trying to collect as much evidence as we can. >> the big question is this connected to the massive 5-plus awarm fire that happened yesterday at the san jose warehouse area? >> that is a good question. it's about five blocks north of where we're standing. that fire was very massive. so much damage it's going to be difficult to get cause and origin. however, it doesn't appear to have the same characteristics as
5:09 am
all of these. we are investigating that. >> we'll stay on top of that. as you can take a look here this is the most recent fire. you can see the entire side of the home burned, the homeowner came out in tears when they saw this. the homeowners we've seen two so far out in their pajamas, whites going on, why were they targeted if so. we're trying to get to the bottom of this as you heard, the police department, also the arsob investigators are doing the same thing. we'll bring you the latest. back to you both. >> thanks. after what they went through they could use a day off. firefighters aren't going to get it. >> that's right. yesterday they dealt with four separate fires including that massive one mentioned at the warehouse on julian and 28th street. crews are expected on scene for days making sure the fire dent flare up. it was huge, the fire burning all morning long.

5:15 am
government jobs this morning, or more likely subtract them due to layoffs. government jobs met everything from fbi agents to county clerks to crossing guards, those tend be a negative number these days. so we have jobs, then more breaking news coming out of the business world. that is target is talking this morning, let's go straight to bertha coombs at cnbc world headquarters. good morning. >> good morning. target providing more information on that massive data breach that happened during the holidays. they now think it impacted some 70 million customers and the company says it will likely have to take a charge in the quarter related to the data breach. a lot of folks skittish and sales dropped after they reported that. one of the things they report this morning is that extra data may have gotten out related to that breach, more than they anticipated. they discovered that through

5:23 am

5:28 am
5:29 am
5:30 am
good morning. thanks for joining us. i'm terry mcsweeney. >> i'm laura garcia-cannon. that breaking news is going on in san jose where the search is on for an arsonist this morning. several fires set in less than an hour within blocks of each other. peggy joins us live with the latest. good morning. >> reporter: there is really no break for it. the fire department here, when you consider what has been happening in the past 90 minutes in san jose, south of 101, we're talking about four fires set three that actually took. let's give you an example. they are small exterior fires, you can see the burn up the side of the house here. we saw the homeowner come out in her pajamas, tears in her eyes. terrified. we were talking earlier to one of the captains, telling us that they really have been hop scotching the neighborhood and trying to figure out what is going won what they suspect is an arsonist. we do have an arson team that is coming to investigate the situation. the san jose police department helping out in this situation.
5:31 am
we saw a porch fire this morning which is where we started around 5:00 this morning, and same thing t heowner came out confused wondering why somebody would set something on their porch on fire. and while we were there we got this call and ran about five blocks away here on east san antonio, once again south of 101, and saw this fire under way. so in light of the huge blaze yesterday that everybody is still recovering from you can imagine the san jose fire department not catching a break, they are actively looking for person or persons who are responsible for these fires. and we'll continue to talk to them and see what information they can gather as they say more fires could pop up any time. it's clear this person has been in the neighborhood as these fires really they are within walking distance. >> amazing stuff. thanks very much. new detail this is morning on the massive warehouse fire in san jose. firefighters say they will be on scene for days making sure the fire does not flare up. we brought you incredible
5:32 am

5:33 am
damaged. no one was hurt. firefighters say it appears it started on the second floor of one of the homes and quickly spread. officials are investigating the cause of each fire and as of now they say they do not appear to be connected. breaking news right now to tell you b. just a few seconds ago the labor department announced the latest unemployment numbers, i looked at scott. you didn't have a good face. >> i do not. train wreck numbers. 74,000 jobs added in the month of december. remember, we were kind of looking for about 200,000 jobs. the unemployment rate does drop to 6.7%, but if you've been watching for any length of time, you know i'm going to tell you to ignore that, that is people walking away from the job line and saying i'm not going to try. that makes them not counted in the unemployment rate. that's why we get 6.7%. again, 74,000 added in the month of december, we were looking 200,000, that's about what we
5:34 am
got last year. obviously northern california terry, is very different than the rest of the nation but these are terrible numbers. these are the worst since -- in the recession since 2011. >> it's all about expectations, right they got 74 but that's not what they were looking for. >> 74 is a terrible number. you need 45 to cover the 18 -- the kids 18 and older who are joining the economy, so you got about another 30,000 total jobs added there. >> thanks very much. >> police hope you can help identify a man who tried to kidnap a woman. police release add sketch, they say the suspect is african-american in mid 20s to early 30s, about 5'7", 180 pounds. he was wearing a gray hooded parka, dark pants and smelled of cigarettes. the victim was walking on 17th street near jackson, again near lake merritt, and the suspect appeared from between two cars and grabbed her.

treated and then sent home. and we're told that with the second tent here up in san jose they can handle three times as many patients as before. and they also increased their staffing. as you said, nine people have died in seven bay area counties in sonoma, one patient healthy young man was just 23 years old. what dock tocker sass even younk healthy people in san mateo county at least six parents were in the icu at last count. one woman in her 40s has died but health officials say she had underlying conditions. still this season the h1n1 strain is spreading. >> people that are young tear middle-aged and this was very consistent with what happened during the 2009 h1n1 pandemic. it's the same flu strain. >> reporter: what can you do? doctors say a flu shot will help

5:43 am
michael mccall last year, then they changed the rules how to report the spouse's income, and now he's back at the top of the list. also from the bay area nancy pelosi is on that list as well at number 10. just made the top 10 at $87 million in average net worth. and senator dianne feinstein is 12, she has $68 million in average net worth. what is interesting here as we look at these numbers is the calculated a minimum, an average and maximum. that's because the some of the rules and how they report this income. what that means is nancy pelosi, for example, is either worth a minimum of $1 million or a maximum of $174 million. they settle that average in between. interesting. >> give or take some millions. wow. >> big money, big leadership. >> in a matter of hour as san francisco 49ers head east for

5:45 am
