the intersection of regan street and bernice avenue. they knocked down the flames. one person was taken to the hospital but not clear why. >> a quick response by firefighters to a fire at a 13-story apartment building in san francisco's north of panhandle neighborhood. the fire was reported about 11:00 last night at the building on mcalister street. crews have the two-alarm blaze under control in less than 20 minutes. the cause is under investigation. >> new details on a possible new terror threat coming to the upcoming olympic games in russia, the threat in the form of a video and the promise of a surprise during the games. peggy bunker has more on the threat and what lawmakers are saying about the safety of the games. >> pretty scary. with the olympics three weeks away it's not what any one wants to hear especially those planning on traveling to russia.

this terrorist threat saying danger awaits any one coming to russia for the games. the two men in the video are reportedly the suicide bombers responsible for last month's bombing in russia. in this video they claim to have a surprise for the tourists and that will be, quote, revenge for all of the muslim blood that is shed every day. these men are believed responsible for this train station bombing and another bombing that claimed the lives of 34 people. despite president putin's promise of 40,000 officers some lawmakers say it's too dangerous to go. >> i would not go. and i don't think i would send my family. >> i'm very concerned that if something does happen what is the evacuation plan and nj response plan that would take place? >> countering this message a bit

of a bright spot as we look that the new video just in of the olympic torch representing the games and the peaceful sportsmanship that they represent, carried through that very town. this happened this morning there. u.s. officials are studying the video, they say they are taking it seriously. this on the heels of a strong travel advisory issued for americans planning on traveling to sochi for the olympics. >> these threats, terror threats, unsettling for the olympic athletes and their families who are going to attend the games. coming up at 6:45 how a southern california family is taking precautions cheering on their son during the bobsledding competition. we'll have that at 6:45. >> 6:03. it is official. seattle sauks take on the denver broncos. the game has a crushing win in

the championship game. bob redell is live at the team headquarters where the players have to clear out the lockers today, bob. >> reporter: yes, they have to clean those out today as opposed to two weeks from today which could have been after the super bowl but unfortunately the 49ers did lose to the saeahawks. about 100 fans here to greet them cheering them on as they went to retrieve their cars so they could drive back to their homes tonight. again they will be back here later this morning for a team meeting, then clearing out the lockers. the 49ers came so close to beating the seahawks with seconds left, colin capper pick passed to crabtree for what looked like a touchdown. but seattle's cornerback richard sherman batted that ball to his

teammate for the game ending intercepti interception. >> making sure everybody knew that crabtree was a mediocre receiver. mediocre. and when you try the best corner in the game with a mediocre receiver that's what happens. game. >> you valleys to see sherman's rant, hollering rant to the sideline reporter. if you haven't seen it we'll show it to you in about 45 minutes. crabtree responded saying films don't lie. pull the tape of that game and show me where this guy is the best. responding to sherman boasting about how great he was on the field. bob redell, "today in the bay." >> he had one good play but it was the play that counted. >> i'm kind of done with sherman. >> yes. the niners were able to contain marshawn lynch. >> all of that changed with one

play. mindy and matt in seattle. >> 49ers and seahawks came in both featuring very good running backs, among the top in the nfl and for the most part, matt, the 49ers defense able to hold lunch in check until he busted through the 40-yard touchdown run, the longest of the 49ers allowed all season long. frank gore, couldn't get him running. >> as much as we talk about colin kaepernick and -- the running attacks, frank gore got shut down by the seattle seahawks. and the 49ers defense did a good job on marshawn lynch except for one play, and in a game like this, that one play was enough. 40-yard touchdown run, advantage goes to lynch. the advantage goes to the seattle seahawks, that's why they are moving on to the spol. >> you dornt want your quarterback to be the leading rusher and frank gore not able

to help in that situation. what was more difficult for this team are the injuries that it incurred that will carry over to next season. we saw left guard go down but could be defensive player of the yeerks up for that, the middle linebacker, bowman. how much will his injury impact the team and how long. >> there is a tough blow for the 49ers in the locker room. not only losing the game but seeing their best player throughout this entire season go down with a torn acl. so this is going to be quite a rehab. all the off season, the goal is to have him ready for the start of the 2014 season. certainly at this point the surgery will be coming up in the next few days. this is something that will be rehabbed throughout, certainly no guarantees at this point. >> very difficult and to a very good season.

security in sochi, this after a new video surfaces, allegedly showing the two suicide bombers promising a surprise for any one who attends the olympics. this video was believed to have been recorded before the attacks on new years. two men claimed they were suicide bombers behind the attacks. >> new this morning iran state tv says the country is no longer enriching uranium. the report says the inspectors were present when iran stopped its enrichment program as part of a deal struck with world powers. later today inspectors will monitor suspension of another site in central iran. historic deal was reached in geneva on november 24th. >> an american imprisoned in north korea more than a year is calling on the u.s. government to secure his release. during an appearance today ken bae says he wants to return to

his family as soon as possible and he hopes that the u.s. can help. bay apologized. said he had committed acts against the northern korean government. he was arrested while acting as a tour guide, accused of using the business to form anti-government groups. he has been sentenced to 15 years hard labor. >> a new report out says a 17-year-old from russia is to blame for the target security breach that compromised the credit and debit card information of 70 million customers. intel crawler says it traced the breach back to an inexpensive malwear program created by the russian teen. the program may also have been used in the neiman-marcus breach. it does not believe they were linked to the people but that he wrote and sold the malwear script. at least 40 cyber criminals

bought the script from the teen. >> there are questions whether russia helped nsa's leaker edward snowden before he fled the u.s. >> i don't think it's -- it was a gee whiz luck event he ended up in moscow. under the handling of the ssb. >> he may well have. we don't know at this stage. >> edward snowden told me he acted alone. >> and in fact government investigators tell nbc there is no indication russia or any one else helped snowden take secrets from the u.s. russia's president says snowden has been given full asylum he is free to travel where he wants in russia including to the olympics. >> president obama says he doesn't think marijuana is more dangerous than alcohol. the president doesn't argue for legalizing pot but he says in an interview with the new yorker that pot is less dangerous than alcohol in terms of its impact on an individual consumer. the president has acknowledged

using pot when he was young and calls it a bad idea and a vice. he says people who think legalizing the drug will solve social problems are probably overstating the case. >> with the flu now widespread in 40 states indiana is enacting a temporary policy that restricts hospital visitation. only immediate family admitted to hospitals in that state, no visitors with flu-like symptoms will be allowed near the hospitals. 11 people have died in indiana from the flu. in california it's at least 45 people who have died from flu. officials investigating another possible 50 cases. the centers for disease control describing the outbreak as an epidemic. the cdc says fewer than half americans usually get a flu shot but it is not too late to protect yourself. you still can. >> the red cross says the flu season leading to a drop in blood donors. today the organization is joining forces with a

>> reporter: good morning, scott. and why they are remembering his legacy for 21 years now we celebrated this day for the last 20 it has been designated by congress as a national day of service honoring the reverend dr. martin luther king jr. so while we remember him on this day, the government and community groups are urging people not just to take the day off work or school but to actually get out and do something like we saw president and mrs. obama do last year and millions of others around the country as well. last year and the year before and the year before. the obamas were painting at various schools around the d.c. area so we suspect they may do the same thing today. if you want to find a community event in your area, something you can put your hands on and make a difference. check out mldday.gov. pop in your zip code and they show you community service opportunities in your area. >> with i have an orchard work day and sacred heart as well.

for the thrills and excitement on the field from the first game until the last. what do the 49ers need to do moving forward? >> mindy bach is in seattle along side ray raddo with a look where the team goes. >> 49ers reached the nfc championship three straight years under jim harbaugh and reaching the super bowl once. we know they make it to the playoffs, the 49ers have a difficult time finishing those games and finishing the job when they need to. what do you take from that? >> that they are almost but not quite truly elite. they won 41 games in three years which is a difficult task to perform. when the chips are on the table you can't play one half. you are measured in the postseason by what you do against the best teams in football. and three times now in their final game they have not been able to play a complete game.

and frankly, in a world where you are graded very harsh think. you have to come up big. >> where does the team go from here? what will be key to get back to the sfwhol >> i think their defense is fine. it is the elite part of this team. but they have to figure out a way not to rely on it to save them in games after games where they only get two touchdowns. this is a high powered league now. you've got to be able to put points on the board and they don't do that often enough. 23 is not good enough week in and week out. they have to be able to do better than that, they have to get more creative offensively, get colin kaepernick to be more precise as a passer and got to be able to either figure out how to get frank gore so he don't have difficult games or get a running back as good as marshawn lynch is.
