suspect after early morning chase. we're live at that scene as well. >> an apartment building damaged from the inside out by intense flames overnight. now firefighters have pin pointed the spot where that fire started. >> good morning to you. i'm meteorologist christina loren. high pressure weakens, slight cooling. the weather story i want to tell you is after we get through friday, 65 degrees, a warm weekend ahead. the storm track finally dips to the south and we have significant rain chances. your full forecast in moments. >> one lane of a freeway in fremont closed because of a brush fire. a new crash at the castro valley y. >> a live look over the city, today is tuesday, january 21st, this is "today in the bay." a very good tuesday morning

to you. thanks for joining us. i'm laura garcia-cannon. >> and i'm scott mcgrew. we have all kinds of things. breaking news out of the east bay, a chp officer opened fire after a short chase. it ended a couple hours ago in an oakland neighborhood. there is a heavily -- a heavy police presence there now. this is at the intersection of east 15th street and 57th avenue. oakland police and chp officials are investigating that shooting. christie smith is live in oakland. christie, any word on the suspect's condition? >> reporter: no. they haven't said anything at all about the suspect's condition. i can tell you i did hear from a spokesperson from the oakland police department who tells me she is on the way so hopefully she can clear up questions. i can tell you the street is still blocked off here as it's been for hours, more than a dozen officers here from both the oakland police department and the chp after a pursuit that ended in gun fire. chp opened up fire.

this started before 3:00 on high street at interstate 580 actually on city streets. police tried to pull over a car, possibly a bmw on the street that had no plates. the driver didn't stop, but took the chp on a three to five-minute pursuit on city streets all the way where we are ended up at east 57th and 15th avenue a. dead end street. that's where the gun fire erupted. two officers involved are okay but so far again, police have not released any information on the condition of the suspect. we were told that one of the things that they are waiting for is for an investigation team. we're told one of them arrived but waiting for two from alameda county and the chp. we believe one has arrived. they say that this investigation could take hours so the streets could be blocked for some time. oakland spokesperson on the way, so we're hoping to get an update on the status of the suspect as

soon as that spokesperson gets here. christie smith, "today in the bay." >> thank you. >> now to breaking news in san jose. police surrounded a strip mall searching for two burglary suspects. it's happening right now at the intersection of hillsdale and camden near lee avenue off highway 85. bob redell is live at the scene. what can you tell us? >> reporter: well, you can see the police have this area surrounded and moments ago they brought a man, one of two people that they had been searching for, they brought him out of this building. if you want to look at that video and see this man had been hiding from police. he it appears he was in one of the businesses inside this strip mall. not sure where but they did find him. this is after police called the fire department, had the fire department bring a ladder truck so they could get on top of the roof. they had canines out here and

also about 30 units. you come back out live you can see get a sense of the resources they have. after they pulled this man out, took him into custody police drew their guns and started doing a search to the left heart of the screen. it does not look like they found anything. this all started around 2:20, an alarm company called police said there is somebody we can hear them with the remote microphones breaking into a medical marijuana dispensary. it's next to the old flames restaurant that burned down. they said we could hear glass breaking, police arrived. people had left the medical marijuana facility butter in others breaking into businesses. they aren't sure if they were burglarying or trying to escape and for the past two or three hours trying to find, they saw two people trying to find them.

they found the one. they are still looking for the other. police told us a while back they did have this area surrounded. roughly 30 units so they sounded confident at the time they would be able to find the sek person. still searching for the others both suspected of breaks into a medical marijuana facility in this strip maul on hillsdale near camden. >> pretty active scene. thanks so much. also in san jose, more breaking news that a apartment complex gutted in an early morning fire. several others still without power and gas. that fire broke out at a complex on cadillac drive not far from the intersection of winchester and hamilton. the fire started in the kitchen of one of the apartments. no one was heard but residents given a scare. >> everybody scared, people

asking, everyone does fine. >> the cause of that fire is under investigation. >> today investigators review video recorded on the front of the caltrain that hit two people in santa clara, killing one, seriously yiring another. the train was likely traveling up to 70 miles an hour when it hit the men, it was passing through the cal train station last night. it was not scheduled to stop there. one man died at the scene, the other treated a at hospital. several witnesses tell us they thought one of the victims may have been on a bike around the time of the accident. officials don't know why the men were on the tracks. there were 70 passengers aboard the gain. >> one family waking up on the edge after two teamingly random attacks. on sunday john says a young man rang his door bell and stabbed

him in the thigh. it's not the first time something happened to the family. last year someone threw yellow paint on his daughter's car and slashed the tires. now the family is thinking about moving. >> my family is too important to me to allow them to be subjected to this behavior. this wanton act of violence. >> the ungers say the man drove off in an older model blewish gray car. >> police in the north, rather people in the northeast and the midwest bracing for bitter cold and snow. another polar vortex. millions from virginia to new england, they have the snow plows ready preparing for up to 10 inches of snow. new york city could at any hardest hit. 14 inches expected. maybe philadelphia will be the worst. arctic temperatures could freeze the region for nearly a week. >> that could affect travelers.

i want to check in with christina. how long could this last? >> at least as far as delays we're talking about well into the weekend because of de-icing. it's going to be cold. the delays are forced by the snowfall, tomorrow starting tomorrow the de-icing that will continue through this week so you want to check ahead. we're talking about the weekend and it's only tuesday. back to work for many. 32 in the north bay. right here in san jose on the way to the 70s. 69 san francisco and 72 in the north bay. if you want to find out where we're headed, plan the wardrobe, your seven-day forecast shows you your regional temperatures all week long. here's what to expect. slight cooling, more clouds into this afternoon, beautiful beach weather. we'll be in the upper 60s to low 70s. in san francisco so hard to beat

that. tomorrow you'll notice plenty of clouds to start the day. talking about about temperatures tomorrow morning about 5 to 10 degrees woormer with the blanket of clouds to kick off the day. we're going to be about as warm in the afternoon. then we're bull's eyeing two significant opportunities for rain. starting next tuesday then as we get into the first week of february, we're bull's eyeing the fourth and the fifth, talking about major rainfall headed our way. boy, do we need it. so this is the time frame, you want to keep in mind if you're looking for the snowfall in tahoe action or the rain right here in the bay area, maybe you want a free car wash. i can wait until the first of february. can you? >> i will. i guarantee it. fremont we're looking at a heavier volume. i returned after the christmas and year-end holidays as well. we see more traffic on the road and slowing coming into the south bay. let's look at the map because we're looking at 880 on the live

shot, talking about 680 southbound still with one lane closed. fire crews from fremont have closed off this low land as they address a series of grass fires reports in the area. one lane closed to the area. we're following up on this so far nothing dramatic. but it's a concern because it's a dry condition through the area. as we travel through the east bay. 580 slows. an earlier crash north 238 caused more slowing. it looks like this is are out of the roadway but we'll have slowing as the volume is starting to build. north of there, reports of transit bus, kind of sticking out into the slow lanes. no one is on board but it is sticking out causing slowing. watch for flashing lights.

francisco where we have been in the 70s for the past five days. more of the same for today, if you've been enjoying this weather that's great news if you want the rain, we're bringing it in. i'm going to show you where on your futurecast coming up in moments. >> looks like we have a return for traffic tuesday commute. here is 101 through palo alto, smooth but 101 through sunnyvale, a crash, a large vehicle. >> here is a look at today's top stories. oakland police shut down part of 57th avenue near east 15th street to investigate a shooting involving a chp officer. the officer tried to pull the suspect over near high street but the driver took off. the suspect reportedly jumped out of the car and was shot by the officer. the suspect's condition is unknown. >> in the midst of the bridge scandal in new jersey governor christie will be sworn in for his second term. in the meantime the mayor of

hoboken is now accusing christie's camp of threatening to withhold sandy relief funds unless she supported a major development project. president obama will travel to meet with pope francis in march. the president says he looks forward to discussing their shared commitments to ending poverty. >> new video in, the ukrainian capital tense after a night of violent clashes between anti-government protesters and security forces. two days of violence in kiev has escalated the country's political crisis. it was sparked because of the passage of protest law, protesters are angry their president made moves to be closer to russia than the european union. as we close in on the winter olympic games, the global events are intensifying threats against the global -- intensifying this morni morning. >> security is the high at the sochi airport and travelers

being closely watched. that's because russian security forces are searching for as many as we're women who are suspected suicide bombers. one of them is a 22-year-old woman who may have already made it in to sochi. she has a scar on her cheek from a raid by russian forces. >> all of this comes after a threat from the grave, two men warning of an attack on the olympics in this video released yesterday. these men claim to be responsible for the two suicide bombings last month. >> both of those men come from a poor muslim republic. many in the area want independence from russia, some want islamic law. >> among the athletes headed to sochi is a student in san jose.

the figure skater tells us she is aware of the heightened security at the games speak leshlly since her family from russia. she is more concerned about her performan performance. >> i don't think any of us are worried about anything. we're really excited to go and experience the games. to go there for the olympics is just the coolest thing because of my heritage being russian and to bring everyone back there for the olympic games is just awesome. >> the u.s. olympic team tells us it's trying to make sure the athletes spend time and energy on training and not thinking about security. >> in the meantime, jamaican team headed to the winter olympics t first time the country has had a bob sled team in the winter games since 2002. the team learned it qualified but didn't have enough funding to go. but that's when the jamaican

appear with the weather forecast. throughout day it's going to be nice, you'll notice a little more cloud cover. high clouds streaming in. high pressure is weakening. that's the reason we're going to cool off and the trend tells that story for san jose. upper 60s, 64 by tomorrow. we'll ta in the mid asks for the next couple days. driving around in january and people with tank tops on. this is all going to change next week. p specifically at the end of next week. let's show you how that looks. we kick open the storm window tuesday and wednesday. the future cast models are starting to agree with what we're seeing. we stop the clock into your tuesday at noon, look at this, i can tell you confidence isn't high because it's so many days out but every time i check it's looking more and more promising. into the first week of february we really get rain.

let's check with mike, see if there is more good news in the traffic department. >> good news is relative. the flow is moving smoothly. that's good news. a couple of incidents no problems, a smooth drive. toward the south bay, 101 approaching, three large vehicles, the freight liner i understand another rig, involved in crashes there. they moved out of the roadway. still a lot of activity, expect flowing southbound. the cornerback commute is not a problem. i see a build for 280 and 87. the tuesday shaping up predictably. we haven't had that since before the end of the year so keep that in mind. all lanes reopen after the earlier brush fires between auto mall and mission involved.

>> welcome back. the controversial google shuttle buses will be back in the spotlight today. they will be the focus of a vote on whether or not they should be allowed to share san francisco muni bus stops. peggy bunker joins us with more. >> good morning to you. it's the memo leak that is making wave this is morning for google. all over the huge shuttle buses used to carry san francisco-based employees to the google campus in mountain view, also using muni stops free to stop and pick up the staffers. san francisco mta board directors will vote on the idea of sharing the use of the muni stops, now a memo allegedly leaked to tech crunch shows it's prepping employees for the vote, offering up suggestion what is to say to the voting members of the sfmta. what they could say if they go,

one, i'm so proud to live in san francisco and be part of this community. two, i support local and small businesses in my neighborhood on a regular basis. also, my shuttle empowers me colleagues and me to reduce our carbon emission removing cars from the road and also i'm a shuttle rider, a san francisco resident and i volunteer at dot, dot, dot, to insert your cause of choice. of course the simplicity of these suggestions is partly why the memo we're trying to obtain is getting so much attention. while san francisco residents say the buses clog the street, google is cutting down on traffic and pollution. they also recently hired ferries. today the memo was e-mailed to employees a couple days ago. today is when the meeting will take place. one of the employees made this comment on the memo thread. this message comes off a bit high handed. i don't think it would be good if it showed up in blogs or the press. so, the meeting and the vote

morning. a live look at the nyse. there is the bell. meantime, at the nasdaq this morning. >> we've got back to work, we had a day's worth of break, now back to work. >> let's make some money. on this tuesday, january 21st, this is "today in the bay." >> good morning. i'm scott mcgrew. >> i'm laura garcia-cannon. we do have an update to breaking news. officials say it might be hours before they finish investigating an officer-involved shooting that happened in oakland. the suspect was shot following a chase but it's unclear why or if the suspect survived. investigators say they could be on scene until late this morning, so you should avoid the area of east 15th street and 57th avenue not far from the rainbow recreation center.

now breaking news in the south bay, police have taken one person into custody after a break-in at a pot dispensary at the intersection of hillsdale and camden near lee avenue off highway 85. the the suspect broke into a medical marijuana shop, then hid from police as you can see. they have gotten one of them. bob redell is at the scene. he'll tell us how officers were able to talk to the suspect turning himself in. >> chris christie attending a church service ahead of his second term as the governor of new jersey. invitation only service in newark comes before noon speech and his swearing in ceremony where jay gray joins us. political scandal casting a shadow over today. >> absolutely. always good to talk to you and look, there is severe winter weather moving into this area but it's the storm of controversy you talk about

surrounding not only governor christie but his senior staff members that could make today's swearing in a bit icy as he takes his second oath of office here. >> reporter: the second term for new jersey governor chris christie officially begins later today. with what will likely be a lot of hard work and heavy lifting. still rebuilding after superstorm sandy, also trying to clean up a growing pr and political mess around his administration. >> that anyone would hold back sandy relief funds for any reason is wholly and completely false. >> reporter: that's exactly what hoboken mayor dawn zimmer said on talk shows and apparently to the u.s. attorney's office this weekend. accusing lieutenant governor and another key member of governor christie's staff of threatening to withhold sandy relief funds unless she supported a major commercial development project. >> she said i know the it's not

right i know these should not be connected but they are and if you tell any one i'll deny it. >> reporter: that comes as two separate investigations continue into the so-called bridgegate controversy. a plan allegedly carried out by senior members of the governor's staff that closed down lanes on the george washington bridge, creating a massive traffic jam for days to punish another new jersey mayor, also a democrat. christie denied any knowledge of bridgegate. as his administration continues to try to rebuild not only the trust of many but also national momentum as the well known republican considers a possible presidential bid. >> reporter: christie not expected to touch on the controversies during his inaugural address here. a state commit has issued 20 subpoenas in the bridgegate investigation. christie hired outside legal counsels. he will continue to cooperate

with all of the investigations. jay gray, laura, back to you now. >> a lot of attention on this one. thanks, jay. >> new details conflicting information as well on possible arrests made in connection with the nationwide target security breefrp. yesterday police in texas announced the arrest of a mexican couple at the border. the two were carrying all of these credit cards with information tied to the breach and that they used the account information to buy tens of thousands of dollars of merchandise. this morning federal officials close to the case say there is no connection between the arrests and the target investigation. >> we've been having such beautiful spring-like weather. >> we have? >> blossoms on trees yesterday. with a threat of rain coming those are going to come down. >> potentially we could hit another cold snap so. especially as we get into the

next couple months you want to stay tuned to the forecast. 37 degrees in half moon bay. at 42 degrees in mountain view. 38 degrees in san jose. it's cold enough for a coat. you have kids going back to school, bundle up for the first part of the day, we'll it off later on. a nice warm day. you can hear the birds chirping. really loving this weather. everything is going to changement not until after this weekend, though. you'll notice that on the forecast. as we head throughout the day this is the weather story. high pressure weakens so we're not going to see as many records fall across the bay area. the temperatures continue to drop off in san francisco. throughout the next few days, down to 55 degrees so keep that in mind it's 57 degrees. we do have more changes ahead as we get into your wednesday.

onshore flow, cool ocean breeze. our winds have been turning offshore for the past 72 hours, and that's where they are going to stay until we hit 11:00 p.m. on wednesday. you'll see where you get blue colors, the cooler colors indicate that wind coming in, the onshore flow, the cool ocean air that means everything is going to change followed by showers. we're going to dive into that. let's check your drive, metering lights, they are on. >> and headlights and taillights no. flashing lights. we had an earlier crash that cleared. here is the backup. a slow drive off of the 880 overcrossing, all lanes are backed up here. look at the map on the approach. the east shore freeway not bad. out of san pablo, speeds in the 50s. that's great the yellow, the orange we see the 40s closer to the area. as well as southbound 880 approaching fifth past the fifth avenue off ramp into downtown we

welcome back everyone. 6:40. investigators will continue their search for a second body inside the site of an explosion and building collapse in omaha, nebraska. cold temperatures and strong winds force the investigation to be pushed back until the light of day. tens of thousands of pounds of concrete and steel making the search effort very difficult. two people at the animal feed processing plant were killed and

ten seriously injured when the second and third floors collapsed. federal investigators are on the scene. so far no word on the cause of that collapse. >> philadelphia police say a university campus is secure and classes can resume this morning following a late night school shooting. the gunman still on the loose after shooting a student in the parking lot of wagner university. the victim is in critical but stable condition. students were asked to remain inside until just after 6:00 this morning when police searched the campus. investigators say the shooting does not appear to be a random act of violence. >> still ahead an update to several breaking news stories. >> coming up, an east bay neighborhood surrounded by crime tape after an officer shoot as suspect. >> dozens without a place to live after a fire. new details about what sparked the flames. >> a strip mall search in san

we begin with breaking news in the south bay. police have taken a man into custody after a break-in at a san jose pot dispensary. happening at the intersection of hillsdale and camden off highway 85. bob redell is live at the scene. bob, how did police talk the suspect into turning himself in? >> reporter: it's not like he had much choice. police had the strip mall surrounded. they could have waited him out. this man suspected of breaking into a medical marijuana dispensary here gave himself up around 6:00 this morning after

hiding on top of an elevator in a cramped shaft for a good three hours. officers spotted him with the help of a canine and through the process of elimination. they had searched everywhere else. they figured that was the only place he could be. they shut off the lights in the building, they drew the shutters, wedged open the elevator door and alerted this man in this game of hide and seek was over. >> how did you get him out? >> that was the hard part. we needed to force open the elevators and then convince him to come down. >> reporter: police have not officered this man. they did call him an ambulance because he was complaining of pain. this all started around 2:20 when an alarm company notified police that a remote mike was picking up the sound of breaking glass at the dispensary. police arrived, they heard glass breaking in other businesses.

thought maybe there were two suspects. turns out it was the one police say broke into that dispensary through the roof, did the same with other businesses, not sure if he was trying to burglar those or escape the police who had him surrounded with about 30 units. they searched the roof with the help of the fire department and on the ground with the help of at least one canine. turns out it was no getting away. reporting live here in san jose, bob redell, "today in the bay." >> also in san jose more breaking news at an apartment complex gutted in an early morning fire. one apartment destroyed, another unit damaged. several are without power and gas this morning. that fire broke out at a complex on cadillac drive not far from the intersection of winchester boulevard and hamilton avenue. nobody hurt. investigators say the fire started in the kitchen of one of the apartments but they are trying to figure out why and what happened. >> time to check your forecast. let's give you a live look outside san jose.

painted sky this morning as the sun is arriving on this tuesday morning. so is christina loren. >> good morning to you. you know, some people love this weather. some people really want the rain. and the good news is we have both in the forecast. more 70s and sunshine and showers. so a little something for everybody finally. 34 degrees to kick off the tuesday in concord, 36 in livermore, san jose not too bad at 38 degrees as we head throughout this afternoon temperatures are going to climb like this. by noon 61, at 4:00 p.m., 70 degrees so comfortable conditions really pretty start to the day here from downtown san jose. you will notice more of these high wispy clouds, it's going to make for a pretty sunrise through the next half hour. so, temperatures are going to climb out of the upper 70s, mid 70s back down to the low 70s, and we're going to fall into the 60s in san francisco at 69 for today. let's get into the changes because they are just around the corner. remember, you can check out your

seven-day forecast here at the bottom of the screen. slight cooling, more clouds, you'll notice that this afternoon. we meet back tomorrow morning, on shore flow. and that means we're going to see low clouds to start the day. they will burn off by about 10:00 a.m. but that is definite change. that means more moisture in the atmosphere. as we head throughout next tuesday, we get our first significant chance for rain, then we're bull's eyeing the entire week, the first week of february when the storm track dips to the south and we can expect major changes. through the next five days, we are going to see subtle changes between san jose and san francisco. particularly as we head through the end of the week. so we're at 68 degrees on friday, and san jose, 64 degrees in the city, won't be quite as warm, jacket weather returns. and then by this weekend warming you back up. so at least we're going to get a nice weekend. let's check the drive. here is mike inouye. >> we're looking here off of a three-day weekend. this is traffic tuesday, seeing a burst of traffic kicking in.

look likes after the holidays, folks getting back to their schedule. for are now we're looking at the south bay with a good volume of traffic. north on 101 all the way up past san jose international airport, into the 40s at times you see the orange. same for north 87 and north 85 building over the last ten minutes. this is a typical pattern. the volume of traffic coming back here. counter commute southbound 101 at 237, earlier crash involving a bus and truck, no injuries reported. looks like traffic is flowing. watch west 237 toward the interchange. that might be the distraction causing more slowing as you pass by matilda into the area. we'll track that in the traffic center and southbound 880, off the 238 into union city, typical pattern there, north 238 and west 580, a couple of crashes there earlier and that's causing all of this backup out of castro valley. sounds like all lanes are clear. you might have a distraction because of the activity. a stalled bus north 880 at davis

investigate the shooting. christie smith live in oakland. any word on the suspect's condition? >> reporter: not yet. right now we're waiting for an update from an observe land police spokesperson who just arrived on scene. there were some jurisdictional issues because the shooting happened on oakland city streets. this is where it ended up. the street has been blocked for several hours. this began with a pursuit and ended with a chp officer opening fire on a suspect who earlier failed to yield. about 3:00 this morning they tried to stop a car, possibly a bmw, on high street at 580. the car was actually on city streets and had no plates on it. they say the driver refused to stop and led the chp on a three to five-minute pursuit through city streets that ended here at east 57th avenue and east 15th street on a dead end street. the chp says that's when the driver, the solo occupant,

hopped out and ran. there was some sort of altercation. one officer opened fire. we're told both of the chp officers are okay but we're waiting to hear about the suspect and whether or not he had a gun. there have been no information released on that. we are told, though, that part of the reason that this investigation is taking so long is that because it's an officer-involved shooting that happened on city streets with the chp there are actually two agencies involved in the investigation. the chp conducting one and a number of agencies from alameda county so they are saying the street may be locked for some time. christie smith, "today in the bay." >> investigators will review video recorded on the front of a caltrain that hit two people in santa clara, killing one man, injuring another. the train was likely traveling up to 70 miles an hour when it hit the men. it was passing through the

caltrain station in santa clara last night, it was not scheduled to stop there. one man died at the scene, the other treated at the hospital. several witnesses told us they thought one of the victims may have been on a bike around the time of the accident. but officials still don't know why there were men on the tracks. >> the circumstances are unusual. and we need to understand what went on between the two victims and whether there was something more that needs to be investigated. that's one of the things that we'll be able to talk with the second victim about when he comes out of surgery. >> officials will also examine the train's black box. there were 70 passengers on the train at the time of the accident. >> grief counselors will be on hand when classes resume at delmar high. 14-year-old danica garcia was hit and killed by a train last friday. a memorial is also growing near the spot where the train hit her as she was riding her bike across the tracks to get to school. her friends have created an

online donation site for her funeral arrangements. >> a veteran bay area gay rights advocate street appear in san francisco court today on felony child pornography charges. 66-year-old lawrence brinkin will attend a preliminary hearing. investigators found dozens of pornographic images on his computer last spring. he is also accused of sending and receiving e-mails containing pornographic pictures of children. he worked with san francisco's human rights commission for 22 years before retiring in 2010. >> 6:54. a controversial gun retailer will go before the council to reapply for his permit to sell guns in the city. templar sports opened in late 2012. anger over the outcry caused the council to adopt an ordinance requiring all gun stores operating in los gatos to undergo an annual business permit review. during tonight's public hearing the council will decide if they will be allowed to renew the

license for another year. according to its facebook page it will consider legal action if the permit is denied. >> the controversial google shuttle buses will be back in the spotlight. they are the focus of a vote over whether or not they should be able to share muni bus stops in san francisco. and a leaked memo about the buses is stirring up controversy as well. peggy bunker joins us with more. >> is it ever. really gaining momentum online. it's the memo leak that is making waves for google all over the huge shuttle buses used to carry san francisco-based employees to the google campus in mountain view and using muni stops free of charge to pick up the staffers. san francisco board of directors will vote on the idea of sharing the muni stops with shuttle buses. now a memo leaked to tech crunch allegedly shows the company is prepping their employees for the vote should they attend.

essentially offering up suggestions as to this is what you should say. here's a couple examples. some of the talking points suggest saying i'm so proud to live in san francisco and be part of this community. i support local and small businesses and my neighborhood on a regular basis. and my shuttle empowers my colleagues and i to remove cars from the road and also i'm a shuttle rider, and volunteer at dot, dot, dot, suggesting enter your choice of companies there. the course of simplicity here any suggestion is partly why the memo is getting attention. while san francisco residents say that the buses are huge and the streets are small, google is highlightings that they are cutting down on traffic and pollution by bussing employees and getting excess cars off the road. they hired private ferries to shuttle staffers to the peninsula using waterways. so the meeting and the vote at 1:00 p.m. this afternoon at san francisco city hall. if the board of directors allows

those shuttles from any company to use the muni stops then the suggested fee will be $1 per stop per day. a bit of revenue there. >> this morning a done deal looks like san jose and unified school district received the go ahead to buy a shuttered mental institution. the two will announce their bid to buy the 81 acre site in north san jose that includes the developmental center. it's been approved. the site is on zenker road. the city plans to redevelop the site into a high school, k-8 school and a park to deal with future poptation growth. developers are in the process of building 32,000 homes in that area. if all goes as planned, work on the new school will be complete in five years. >> today another south bay city will talk about banning styrofoam. the cupertino council will introduce an ordinance prohibiting food vendors using
