misty morning. but no major rain expected to fall today. let's check in with meteorologist christina loren for when the rain may return. >> good morning to you. yeah, we still have snowfall coming down in tahoe but for the most part the bay area is getting a little bit of a break at least for the next 72 hours. thanks for waking up with us. maybe you're just watching the olympics. stick with us, your home for the olympics and your weather coverage. we are just getting started. you can see now showers moving into tahoe where we accumulated 6-plus feet of fresh powder. and there is more on the way. but hey, the north bay, just got hammered. we bring in christie smith live in mill valley where they made up their entire average rainfall for the month of february over 72 hours. all of that rain coming in so fast, left a mark up there. good morning to you. >> reporter: good morning. yeah it's still a soggy mess but we are finally seeing dry skies

in mill valley. i tell you, driving around you can still see evidence of the rain that seemed like it wouldn't quit over the weekend. i want to show you what one of the tributaries to the corte madera creek is looking like. we also checked in around the corner and spoke with two business owners of the 2 a.m. club and joe's tacos. employees tell me that they spent the day mopping up and disinfecting water that kept creeping in on sunday. the owner of joe's tacos says the storm drain causes problems every year because it overflows from creek water. this morning we checked it out again. sandbags still out front. when it stops raining the water rolls back quickly. and we heard one shop there had fans blowing inside, still trying to dry things out. damage minimal inside. but the lost business, well, that can be expensive. >> yeah, we've been shut down, we should be up and running

bay bridge. now, as you can see behind me it really is a beautiful bridge shrouded in fog this morning. here's the deal. on sunday bridge engineers found what they feared they might see after a big rainstorm. rain water dripping and puddling into the steel structure right below the road deck of the suspension stretch of this span. that is a highlighted part of the bridge, trael pinnacle of this gorgeous road. water not supposed to be inside. where is it coming from. the seepage might be from the steel guardrails used on the portion of the bridge to reduce waft. not to get too technical you could equate this to a home project gone wrong because it might have something to do with the caulking. the caulk was applied around those two surfaces, pumped along the sides of the rails on the outside of the rails, some engineers are saying because it was put on the outside it might
