mario enrique who work forward the fire department for years. according to the merck he is facing serious drug and sex charges involving children. he is also accused of selling methamphetamine and sex assault again involving minors. the merc sites the department of justice. they believe the 53-year-old they say was booked after an arrest as you said at the station where he worked. this happened just yesterday. it is believed that he was soliciting business on line. computers were seized from his home and the fire station. his face book page says he has worked for the department since 1994, 53 years old, they say at this point it's unclear the number of victims and the information they say came from a tip but not a tip from a minor. reporting live in san jose, christie smith, "today in the bay." >> a warning has been issued for

bart riders after a uc-berkeley student is infected with the measles. the student reportedly commuted on the train of bart back and forth for nearly a week. it's a highly contagious disease. peggy bunker joins us in studio with some of the details. and concerns. >> very concerning. that's because measles is extremely contagious, it can hang in the air for up to two hours after the infected person is gone. so you can imagine how alarming this is for b.a.r.t. which provides about 400,000 rides per day. health officials are warning that any one riding bart between february 4 and february 7 during the morning commute or late in the evening kout have been exposed to the measles virus. the student lives in contra costa county and from el cerrito station to downtown berkeley. the student attended classes last week through tuesday through friday, having no idea that he was infected. >> we had learned that during the period in which he was

infectious or contagious the student spent time on campus and in the berkeley community. >> contra costa officials say he was not vaccinated for measles, which is spread through the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes. some are unconcerned. >> not really concerned about it really. i know it's a possible danger but i know i probably should get immunized. i haven't. >> immoonization is a key. the student was not immunized was likely exposed to the virus while traveling on a trip abroad. here are the symptoms. high fever, runny nose, coughing, watery red eyes and a rash. of course a lot of the symptoms can be something different but really it's the rash that you need to look out for that is something to keep your eye open for. if you had a measles vaccine you're good. it's a very effective way to prevent getting measles even if you are exposed to the virus. it's those not vaccinated most

aerials competition and women's skeleton. >> meteorologist christina loren joins us this morning. a little bit of a mist as i was driving in. a couple of swipes of the wipers. >> a couple and you were done. that's good to know. i had to use mine for a good 10 minutes or so. yeah, that's what you will experience as well if you're waking up with us in the south bay or the east bay where we're getting the steady mist, that drizzle this morning. we're looking pretty good. we have low clouds across the bay area. happy valentine's day to you. temperatures are pretty mild throughout to start the day. san francisco at 57, 55 to kick off your friday in mountainview and 56 in san jose. so we're getting ready for a three-day weekend, also a lot of kids getting out for the long ski week break. i can tell you we have showers headed toward tahoe. they are not there yet. if you leave now you're in pretty good shape. very strong wind on the way for tomorrow. that could make for dangerous

travel conditions. but this is what we're working with. a few light showers, mostly to the north of sonoma county. so very similar to what we saw yesterday. a touch cooler temperaturewise. we're out of the 70s today. but not by much. 67 on the way to san jose. 68 in the east bay. 59 in san francisco where we'll see plenty of low clouds throughout the day. and 64 on the way to the north bay. there are showers on the way. we have pretty good shower activity as we head throughout the weekend but not until saturday. the great news is a lot of this is going to happen while you're sleeping on saturday night the front comes through, potentially bringing us a quarter of much-needed rainfall to san jose. this is not the only system we're tracking. the bottom of your screen we've got more rain on the way. just in time for ski week which is why we bring in bob redell. he's live at squaw valley. you've got real snow back there. that's natural snow, bob. we haven't seen that just yet

from nbc bay area this season. >> reporter: and i think a lot of ski resorts in the sierra like squaw valley, are like finally we've got real snow that's actually falls from the sky. they got a good 5 1/2 feet last weekend. another foot expected this weekend. as you've been talking about. i want to show you pictures. this was the scene in the past hour up the red dog slope. you can see grooming machines prepping the runs for this friday day of skiing which will kick off the presidents day weekend and key week. they have been sweating out what has been a very mild winter season. until that storm last weekend. >> it's really been night and day. we couldn't ask for better timing with presidents week

coming up. >> reporter: and the manmade snow is buried now? >> it's buried. we'll continue making snow as conditions permit. the natural snow has been taking precedent with over 5 1/2 feet last weekend. >> reporter: you look at this overall season what's it been like? >> you know, it's been interesting. it's definitely taken until now i think to really get going. finally have our mountain back. >> reporter: there is going to be a high wind advisory in effect tomorrow morning through saturday night, christina. as you're well aware so people are thinking about coming up to the ski resort, keep that in mind for driving wise. they are talking about sustained winds of 25 to 40 mills an hour, gusts of 60 to 70 miles an hour. you have a big suv, high profile rv, you could get blown about. something to consider if you are thinking about leaving maybe better to leave today, friday instead of tomorrow.

abdullah. a senior administration official tells yahoo! that the president invited the king to meet in california because he wanted to show the king some place outside of washington. the president is set to stay through monday. we're told plans include a game of golf. >> back on the east coast a storm is hitting as mother natures refuses to let those people recover from the last one. yesterday's storm left up to a foot and a half of snow in some areas and more than a million people were without power in the south. the storm blamed for 21 deaths including a pregnant woman hit by a snowplow in new york city. doctors did save her baby. >> that was tragic. >> the relentless snow and ice this winter have led to flight cancellations in more than 25 years. u.s. airlines canceled 75,000 flights since december, this includes 14,000 this week, yesterday alone nearly 120 flights were affected at sfo

based on information provided by flight tracking service flight aware b. 5.5% of the 1.3 million flights scheduled in that period. >> we mentioned it's a little misty. foggy in parts as well. we want to check in with mike. >> i'll show you the roadway and the sky above. this is 101 northbound past willow. the roadway we expect volume of traffic, pretty steady along the peninsula, very light i should say. we have low clouds and the misty conditions kind of like yesterday so we're expecting to see the fog drift in. chp is talking about a mist across the bay bridge. you see the orange patch along 1, it's light and here in oakland as well as other patches around the bay. in san jose, morgan hill area we had mist reported. then it cleared up. but looking here into hayward we have a little bit of mist in spots, cars through the area. north in oakland we see the

orange kicking in so a factor through the hills approaching the toll plaza and in the north bay, lower visibility. look at this live shot of san rafael. the glowing lights the top of the screen. not a lot of problem as far as the view toward the richmond/san rafael bridge. we're talking about speed through the tri-valley, an easy flow, no problems for visibility there or through sunol. you might find some likely later on. we saw clouds yesterday and into the south bay where the crews, that's the only thing starting to lift and clearing through the area as well. maybe some moisture in gilroy as well. >> definitely. even on my trip up from campbell to san jose which is about a 10-mile stretch i know, it was definitely misty out there. and the roadway was slick so you want to take it easy, travel cautiously. give yourself extra time. you have the whole weekend to

enjoy hopefully you get a three-day weekend. if not guess who is going to be there with you? us. we'll be here on monday. 5:19 now. a live look at the bay bridge. a beautiful start to the day. it's a little misty. we're going to continue to see this steady mist and drizzle so you want to give yourself ample time. i want to show you san jose. you can see the same overcast sky overhead. we head throughout the day we're going to climb into the upper 60s because we're starting out so mild in the mid to upper 50s. so let's take a look at the microclimate differences for the next five days. they will be substantial. here's the deal. a lot of people like to head to san francisco from san jose for valentine's day. they have great restaurants in san francisco. at 68 degrees here, 59 in the city with mist, a little drizzle so make sure you are ready for that if you are going to hit up those wonderful restaurants.

we have rain starting on saturday night. want to give you a preview. through about 5:00 p.m. saturday the front moves into the north bay. right now back to you, scott and laura and the rest of the top stories. >> is a san jose firefighter facing drug and sex crime charges after getting arrested at the station where he worked. christie smith is live in san jose with details. good morning. >> reporter: good morning to you. yes, very disturbing accusations against the san jose firefighter drug and sex charges against children, a man who apparently worked for the fire department since 1994. that according to his face book page that i took a look at a couple of minutes ago and the merc. checking into 53-year-old mayor yocuestas. he was arrested at the station where he worked and the state

department of justice is involved. the charges allegedly include also the sale of methamphetamine, sex assault and sex crime charges involving children. it's believed that he may have been soliciting miners on line. they say it's unclear how long these alleged crimes were going on. but computers were seized from his work and his home, he is being held without bail. the information apparently coming from a tip, but not a tip from a minor. reporting live in san jose, christie smith, "today in the bay." >> thank you. >> prosecutors could file formal charges today against a benicia elementary school teacher accused of serving pot-laced food at a potluck. tur reis a is set to be arraigned on three counts of poisoning. badger is a first grade teacher at matthew turner elementary school, one of 20 guests, most of them teacher who is attended

a dinner party last november. after the party some of the guests reported feeling sick or possibly high. two teachers were taken to the hospital. a 15-year-old got sick after eating leftovers from the party. >> talk about some of the news out of the olympics. the russian worker hit by a bobsled in stable condition. he was air lifted to a hospital yesterday and undergone surgery on two broken legs. olympic organizers say the operation went well. the worker is okay. he was hit by what's known as a forerunner sled at the center before the start of the two-man bobsled training. one of those test sleds. >> a lot of events happened while you were sleeping. we'll air those later today. if you can't wait we have spoilers for you. >> you would rather wait wait for the music to end. we'll give you the cue.

we're going to see pretty good totals on this. snow on the way to tahoe as well. this is what we expect in the bay area, over .3 inch in santa rosa and a quarter inch in san jose so we have rain here and snow on the way to tahoe, ski week starts on monday which is why we said to our own bob redell up to tahoe live out this this morning, it does look a little windy up there, bob. you're looking good in that snowfall. happy valentine's day. >> reporter: happy valentine's day to you too. as well christina. we're at the bottom of the red dog slope at the resort where they this this unique thing called real snow. it wasn't much -- wasn't much of this here until five, six days ago. you guys breathe a sigh of relief before that -- once that storm came in. what was it like prior? >> we did have fun skiing

conditions, wasn't like squaw valley like people know it. people like to be able to ski all sorts of terrain from the beginner area to really good big mountain skiing and before that we were a little bit limited more to the groomer. with all of the snow ear able to open the mountain. >> percentage to lifts open now? >> we've been able to open at least tomorrow five major chair lifts including granite chief and our beginner area so it's really night and day in terms of variety. >> on sunday you -- or saturday morning, saturday night, sunday morning. >> we hope for another six to 12 inches this weekend. usually hopefully coming in about saturday night when people have made the drive up so it should be great leading into a great presidents' week. >> and ski week, you have a lot going on. >> we have great concerts saturday night, a concert with

that's where we expect the snow to start on saturday. 55 degrees in the east bay now we're headed toward the upper 60s yet again. it will be kind of balmy. 59 in san francisco. showers moving into the north bay as of today. i'll have your full forecast coming up. right now your drive a good idea to bring those chains if you are headed to tahoe. >> especially with the forecast you and bob are giving. a nice week for some heading out of town not all schools get off but they get monday off. we'll look into oakland. that's what we're seeing as far as the volume of traffic but not well lit. the low clouds hover around this portion. you can see about a half mile. you see the orange there and that's what the index indicates. we're timed with the weather

system. past 13 up through the oakland kills and the maze where the front of the visibility will be impacted. there was some misty conditions. visibility was okay on the deck. more orange for 37 and 101 in novato and as you approach san rafael but nothing big. highway 29 not quite heavily traveled. looking at a smooth flow. and san jose some glowing lights, that's about it. no problems. the fog continues to move around. >> we're going to bring you some video from live pictures from pennsylvania. yes, and this is a turnpike trash that happened there. completely has stopped traffic. it's north of philadelphia. multiple cars are involved here. you can see the snow, no doubt

it was some stick icy conditions. people walking around so there are multiple accidents that they are dealing with here. can hardly count all of the cars involved. they are facing in all directions, no doubt numerous injuries, this coming from the scene right now. tragedy really there at the turnpike crash. we don't know the ek tents of injuries but that's north of philadelphia this morning. tough way to start the day. >> we'll update you on that and a lot more. a cal student attends class, he rides b.a.r.t. before discovering. >> no slope still street. three men, it was remarkable to see.
