good morning, everyone, it's 4:30. i'm scott mcgrew. it's polina edmunds day. exciting. >> that's right. our own san jose native is going to skate this morning. what else is happening out there? drizzle coming down. want to check in with meteorologist christina loren. that's what it was in the south bay. everywhere else? >> we have light showers moving in. good morning, scott, laura, everybody at home. give yourself plenty of time. not talking about significant totals as far as rainfall coming goes. we need it for air quality, the hills starting to turn green. a super soaker pattern headed our way. warming trend as well. a lot to talk about about in the forecast. mike inouye. >> super soaker, watch out, folks. right now, it's drizzly, wet, enough to make the road we slick. live camera at fremont. glowing lights, southbound wid headlights past the truck scales where you can see puddling.

i drove through this area, a lot of mist, windshield wipers going off through milpitas, south of here, san jose. we got hit with heavier mist as i drove towards the studio. i want able to see any of it here, 101 north of 680. close to 880. here you see a sheen on the roadway but no rooster tailing, not enough water to kick up. on the peninsula, 101 past the brightly lit sign at university and that shows you the most roadways, not a big deal. clover leaf, traction this morning. now a developing story in the ukraine. protesters set fires, trash on fire, cars, a ring around their flames around the camp would keep out police. fighting all day using guns, tanks, explosives. at least 25 people killed including 7 police officers. almost 250 have been hurt.

the protesters are rebelling against the u cainian president who wants the president to reunite with russia. the fighting taking place in kiev's independent square. one of san jose resident and ukraine native says americans should be paying close attention to what happens next. >> empire of evil cease to exist but putin want to rebuild again, might be different to form but rebuild again imperial russia, and he doesn't think it can -- >> the president yanukovych saying he has tried to compromise. a flight that experienced extreme tu extreme turbulence. after it landed safely in hong

kong, the plane on right with the tail on the screen. the flight left yesterday from sfo carrying 321 passengers, 21 crew members. six passengers and two crew members were injured during the flight. we've not been told how serious injuries are but treated on the plane, transferred to a hospital later. you can see one person seen on a stretcher. this tells the tale. a couple of pictures from inside the boeing jet after the turbulence knocked some passengers out of the seat, it threw items all around the plane. 4:34. a 29-year-old man faces attempted murder charge accused of attacking a 93-year-old woman in a hospital bed. 93-year-old mary perez went to san francisco general with breathing problems, resting in her room as staff members were wheelg the man to the psych ward. he jumped off his gurney, ran into her room and beat her. >> grabbed the i.v. pole, and

swung the pole to her head twice, she covered her head with her arms. >> perez is in intensive care. the hospital released a statement apologizing for the incident and prom itising an investigation. doctors see 4,000 patients on psych holds every year and all evaluated in the e.r. san jose firefighter fating charges of selling meth amphetamine but not sex abuse. he came to investigators' attention after accusations he traded drugs for sex and allegedly had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old boy. investigators say they're looking into that accusation but yesterday he was arraigned on three drug-related charges. investigators say the firefighter sold meth to an undercover officer. he's due back in court next week. police in hillsborough hope

surveillance cameras were rolling when a burglar broke in the middle of the day. got into a house on denise drive between barbara and alberta way. the burglar or burglars took several items, someone reported seeing a suspicious car speed away around 1:00 with two men in it. police are asking those who live in the area to check surveillance video for gray toyota or honda four-door sedan. a live look about 30 miles away from the mountains, one of the game's most highly anticipated events about to get under way. women's figure skating kicks off in a couple of hours. these three ladies looking to top the podium for team usa. 18-year-old gracie gold, ashley wagner and our own polina edmunds from right here in the bay area. >> she's 15. she goes from her classes in san jose's high school to competing on the world's biggest stage.

>> she will skate the same program she did in boston last month. her performances there landed her a silver medal and a top spot on the olympic team. at a young age, polina unknown to judges and some say she should have waited for the next winter games to compete. but the confident sophomore strongly disagrees. she's been training for this moment her entire, young life. >> i don't want to be four years old somewhere not as good as i was four years back and have been held back for that. i'm really happy that they gave me my shot and i can't wait to prove myself at the olympic games. >> getting a ton of support from the bay area. right down to her boots, made in san carlos. previous clients through kristi yamaguchi and nancy carkerrigan >> slated to skate 12th. watch it on nbc sports network.

chain controls. you have a smooth flow in and out. if you think about going to tahoe, congratulations, what are you doing up at 4:40 in the morning? live look. get a -- towards the bay bridge, smooth drive across the span. see the lights on the san francisco side as well, officially named bridge on that span, smooth flow. you can see the towers, the city. clouds, though, illuminated by the city lights. those may be an issue later on. the mist around the bay, that could be a factor, slicker roadways. east shore freeway, i've marked it with an arrow, no delays out of richmond through berkeley. smooth drive off the carquinez bridge, past highway 4. 680, ven sheebenecia bridge. no slowing out of the altamont but that's the first spot we'll see anything significant. across the bay for the san mateo bridge. talking about drizzly conditions. watch the slick roadways.

welcome back. it's 4:45. a gallon of milk could cost more than a gallon of gas in the area. there are not enough cows to make enough mill tock meet the demand. when the cost of feed went up last year, farmers cut back on cows and now the price could increase by 60 cents to $5 or $6 a gallon. it could go higher if the drought continues. tina's family drinks two gallon every week but might have to cut back on milk and cereal. >> i have grandkids that it three, four times a day. >> dry growing conditions in brazil have pushed the flight of

coffee to the highest level in more than a year. google says, try not to be annoying when wearing google glass. the company may have issued that warning too late. for that and the news before the bell, courtney reagan, live at cnbc world headquarters. good morning. >> good morning. futures are lower after a mixed close for stocks on tuesday. coke's disappointing earnings weighed on the dow. nasdaq rose for the eighth straight day. look for data today on housing, inflation, and minutes from last month's fed meeting. the dow falling 24 points. the nasdaq rising 28 to 4272. the bill for target's data breach keep rising. costs for banks topped $200 million. banks have replaced more than half of the credit and debit cards that may have been procomprised and they don't take into cut fraudulent activity which would push the cost higher for banks and consumers aren't being held liable.

good morning. pretty shot of the bay bridge, all pretty. beautifully lit. no doubt, some of the fun going to the olympics is getting to experience new culture. it doesn't mean americans have leave their own culture behind. >> inside olympic park in sochi, there's a little piece of the usa, it's the usa house, and only american olympians and families are welcome. it's where they celebrate after the medal stand and spend some time between events. >> i think it's just a nice reprieve from everyone from all of the events and everything that's happening. it's a nice place to come, relax, have a drink, have food, and socialize and cheer on team usa with other americans.
