good morning to you. it's 4:30, also friday and i'm scott mcgrew. >> you can say that again. >> it's also friday. >> i'm laura garcia-cannon. lot to get to. let's get to the friday forecast with meteorologist christina loren. >> better stop doing my happy dance, i'm on camera now. it's still early on a friday morning, i can tell you right now look at what's coming our way as we head throughout the weekend. we're talking about really heavy rainfall totals and we've got more on the way through next week so a lot to talk about this morning. i want to make sure you bring that umbrella. i'll time the system. there are three more on the way. time them all out all morning.

>> watch my watch, timing it out. toward 880 moving through fremont, we'll take to you the maps. overall the bay looking light. a couple of incidents the last half hour. chp report. we have drier roads, not a major concern but a spin-out reported north 680 as you approach stone valley road. you see red on the map heading to the walnut creek interchange. there is slowing through the walnut creek interchange. there may be road crews. down to about 60 miles per hour. northbound 680 up to highway 4, another spin-out reported. two for 680 despite drier roads. so far no injuries. everything moved to the shoulder. >> at 4:31 breaking news to tell you about. right now investigators trying to piece together what happened to a person found dead in a home in san jose. it happened at a home on aborn road not far from silver creek

high school. bob is at the scene. police are calling this death suspicious? >> reporter: yes. good morning to you. they are not sure of the person found dead in this home last night died of natural causes or if they were murdered. the police received a 911 call, this was before 8:00 last night, someone on the other end of the line telling them there might be a dead body inside. officers arrived to do a wonderful check. they knocked on the doors, no response. it appears they had to enter through the front window. inside they did find this dead person. they have not announced whether it was a man or woman. they point out that even though this is suspicious, this could turn out to be benign. but until they know for sure they are going to err on the side of caution and treat it as a homicide. >> you only get one opportunity to treat that crime scene properly and collect evidence and preserve evidence. if we find out later it's a homicide but we didn't preserve the scene we're going to be behind the curve.

best practices we're going to treat it like a crime scene, later on if it's determined to not be a crime, then we haven't lost anything and we can basically know that we did the right thing. >> reporter: that is sergeant jason dwyer announcing the rationale declaring this a crime scene. back out live you can see the front door has been boarded up as is the window where we believe police forced their way in. clearly doesn't appear that anyone lives at this home. the front area is untended t lawn and the landscaping and whatnot. what police have not been able to determine is whether or not or haven't announced whether this person found dead inside lived here. reporting live in san jose, bob redell, "today in the bay." >> thanks for the latest. >> ships on the way to check out a piece of debris spotted in a new search area of the indian ocean. crews in the air spotted the object while looking for flight 370.

ships will probably not get there until tomorrow. they just started looking in that area today after australia announced new information showed the plane may have gone down 6 to 700 miles to the northeast of the original search area. further analysis shows the plane was traveling faster than thought meaning it may have burned more fuel and traveled a shorter distance. officials admit this is an inexact science. >> it's possible that further analysis may change that again. we at this stage don't expect significantly but there are no guarantees in that area. this is the best available information and analysis. >> australian authorities say satellites were being redirected to the area. the new area is larger but it's closer to australia's west coast that has more favorable weather as well. >> developing now, state legislators plan to call on state senator leland yee to resign today f. he refuses they say they will have him suspended.

yesterday yee's lawyer announced that yee is dropping out of secretary of state. as far as we can tell he has been in his home since he posted bail for corruption and weapons trafficking charges. he was scooped up along with 25 others. marvin sullivan is accused of being part of a murder-for-hire conspiracy, gun and drug trafficking and selling fraudulent credit cards. keith jackson who used to serve on san francisco's school board faces similar charges. >> when we served together almost 20 years ago the keith i remembered cared deeply about the city's most disadvantaged children. >> somehow those two are linked to yee as is a notorious china town criminal raymond chow. our own christie smith is in sacramento monitoring the developments. she'll have a live report. and any time we're not on the

air you can find our latest developments on nbcbayarea.com. >> the former richmond teacher accused of sexual misconduct with a student will be back in court. he was arrested last month right in his classroom. he is accused of sexually abusing a student when he worked at a different school, making waves academy also in richmond. the west contra costa school district voted to implement new hiring policies after gunta was hired while still being investigated by police. now all new hires have to go through background checks. >> at 4:36, pg&e says it expects to face federal charges for the explosion that killed eight people in san bruno. they have been meeting in hopes of reaching a resolution to the investigation into the blast. but now officials expect criminal charges. if the charges are filed they would allege pg&e's operating practices at the time of the

blast violated the pipeline safety act because the utility reportedly did not keep good records or identify faulty pipe lines. many in san bruno say it's about time. >> we know it wasn't an accident. it could have been prevented and that is the most frustrating thing for all of us. >> did they commit a crime? >> well yeah. i'm not paying attention to it. yeah. >> officials say the charges are not warranted and they implemented new safety practices since the explosion. the u.s. attorney's office did not comment. to a developing story, officials in washington say the number of people confirmed dead in the massive mudslide will probably go up. the count stands at 16 with 90 missing. today's search and rescue crews are fighting through rain and exhaustion on the seventh day of searching using forensic digging techniques, picking up debris, sets it off to the side. people are going through the

later. san jose a smooth flow northbound. easy light drive. the map shows the entire bay is showing up pretty good green, the sensors go, no green on the highlighting from our road weather index. northbound 680, stone valley road reports after crash. i have to correct this is a single car crash but not a spin-out. there are two lanes. be careful, unusual for that spot, also for that direction any time of this morning and midday. we're following that approaching 24, the other slowing north of concord cleared as the accident cleared. a smoother drive on the approach toward the bay bridge, west 24 and 80, you come through berkeley and the berkeley curve. we'll look at the speeds through the north bay. no problems, all in the green zone for south 101 heading to novato and down to the golden gate bridge. a live look at san rafael, 101 on your route t light volume of

"the wall street journal" reports that amazon has been considering a prescreening tv and music video service. amazon invested heavily in providing shows and movies to customers who pay the $99 fee for prime service. mcdonald's is looking to give you something for free, the free cup of coffee for breakfast starting monday you can get a small coffee during breakfast hours, it's going to run through april 13, mcdonald's will host events with free samples and entertainment. i'm not sure what you get at 6:00 in the morning. and starting in mid april mcdonald's is going to surprise one twitter follower every day

a little shower activity. we're going to see that ramp up at the end of this afternoon and we also have steady drizzle at the coast with that persistent onshore flow as the storm track stays to the north of bay area. let me take you through friday, by 4:00 p.m. the heavy rain starts to move into the north bay. it's going to continue for most of the night. we could pick up pretty decent totals, 3 to 4 inches possible up in the north bay higher elevation. san francisco, you'll start to get the heavy rainfall by 5:00 a.m. tomorrow. then look at this. i want you to focus on san jose for one moment. because we typically get rain shadowed by the santa cruz mountains. watch what's coming, 5:00 a.m. saturday and 9:00 a.m. that rain starts and then watch this. we continue into 2:00 p.m., and we're talking about some really heavy downpours right here in the south bay. we need. our reservoirs, they are very low. the lexington could use a nice refreshing round of rain. as we head throughout the next couple days we're going to keep
