expressway. a man was crossing the road there, there is not a crosswalk in the area when he was hit by a vehicle that thedid not stop. they do not have a description of the driver. all they know is that the person who hit them did not stop there this morning. in the eastbound lane of capitol expressway. if anyone may have seen anything they would love for you to give them a call. as for people who may be driving in the area. this is part of the commute you should know that this road is going to be closed for at least another hour. it is going to be a while before this road opens. you want to keep you updated once the road reopens. today in the bay.

worldwide. we have more details on the models that are affected by the recall. good morning to you. some of the models are being recalled for more than one reason. there have been two fires reported related to a defective engine starter. this is a global recall of more than six million cars. this affects 30 million models. now the pontiac made it a california plant.

they include the corolla, and the highlander and the toc oaco. problems in the steering column and others. there is an area on the company website and you can put in your vehicle id number and get informati information. >> federal regulate toors are fg gm for each day that it does not provide information for the ignition recall. gm will be forced to pay $7,000 every day it doesn't cooperate with that vest galinvestigation. the fine is up to $35,000.

52 in the east bay 48 degrees. even after we get a round of rain, getting into the end of the week, it looks warm for next week and the following week as well. we hit the mid 90s. we are going to trade those into the low 80s. not too bad. 79 degrees down right perfection there. this is what happens. the big ridge of high pressure has been keeping us nice and warm. this cut off low tries to make its way to the bay area. it is hard to gauge though because the low detaches from the jet stream.

>> this is today in the bay. >> good morning every one. thank you for joining us. >> we do have an update now to breaking news. a major intersection is shut down right now. it happened this morning near the expressway. >> reporter: good morning. they do not have a lot to go on in terms of who hit and killed this man. we do want to show you the police traffic investigators at work there on the screen. one thing to pay attention to here, without the lights that police have set up. this would be a dark stretch of the expressway. it is in the eastbound lanes of

the expressway. a man was crossing the road and he was crossing the road. there was not a crosswalk there when he was hit by a vehicle and killed there at the scene. that vehicle did not stop. police do not know whether it was a car or truck. that is something that they hope to be able to learn more about. they do expect to be out here for a while. our unit is processing the scene and they will be looking for evidence that would help them with the hit and run case. they are going to be checking to see if maybe there were cameras in the area that would have caught something. one of lanes will be closed for

models sold in north america alone. there have been no injuries or crashes reported. there have been two fires reported tied to an issue with the defected engine started to keep the motor running. problems do include issues like the seat rails and the bracket that holds the steering column in place and a kai bell that is attacked to the airbag. but also they include the pontiac vike. the car was made at the same plant as the toyotay. the models were build between 2004 and 2013. they include the r are av 4 and tacoma.

this doesn't mean that every car every year is being recalled. for instance it is the 2009 corolla for the airbag issue. you can go on the website and put in your vehicle id number. but what toyota is saying they are sending outleter eoutleoutl owners letting them know how to proceed. >> police say they are going after suspects threatening victim victims. suspect stole a man's laptop and another man was robbed in a restroom. a pair of robbers demanded a victim's phone and three robb y robberies were related.
