this is today in the bay. good morning to you. thank you for joining us. i'm scott mcgrew. we begin with a find on the coast of australia. today in the base peggy bunker joins us. could, could be. that object no one wants to tie the plane until we have absolute proof. let me take you to a map first and give you an idea of where

a flight bound for maui. in new photos taken by our sister station you can see what is reported to be the boy's footprint where he stepped onto the aircraft. the second image show s numerou hands and food prints. what isn't clear how much of that time was spent on the ramp versus how much time was spent on the wheel well. if so, how was he missed? the teen attends school in the south bay and transferring to santa clara high. his friends say he is a shy kid. > teen who lives in santa clara got into an argument with his

dad and ran away. he stowed away with the hope of flying to africa with the hope of flying to his biological mother. he did survive that trip. he is still in the hospital in the island state doing fine while the department of human services trying to arrange a flight for him home. >> san francisco is one of the deadliest cities for pedestrians. cops will patrol the avenue between market and geary streets this morning. looking out for distracted drivers. 7 pedestrians have been hit and kills in san francisco this career. the most recent crash happened this month. >> commission considering a plan to ban pot clubs from certain

areas of the city places where kids gather or rehab centers. today's meeting will discuss the cultivation of the drug. the city has been trying to regulate the city's pot clubs for days now. we'll hear from john williams the iii filed suit this month because the sea hawks only allowed people in certain states to buy tickets to the game. he did not live in one of those states. the sales were unconstitutional and he is demanding $50 million in damages. stadiums are funded through public money. the sea hawks have not responded. 505 right now.

into mini dorms. >> this was a 2 bed room home converted into a house for six students. in the end what happened last night may be a win for neighbors. but they have no legal grounds to stop construction on that one home on park avenue. but in the future they can require approval on homes that increase the number of bedrooms of 4 or more. hundreds of them packed into a city council meeting. city planners said that the bier in this case is within zoning

having rivots on it? >> an item being called an object of interest and nothing more. this case has had several false starts. here is what we know. let's get you to the map and show you where this item was found. off the western coast. this item washed ashore five hours south of perth. the item was found in the town where all reporters are moving to that area to try to get a look at the item. let's talk about the item. the safety bureau chief has described the item of having rivots up and down one side, rectangular but ragged and torn. the size is tough to estimate because they are looking at

photos of it. and they don't have a sense of scale. authorities were careful to say they don't know if the object is related. building nearly to the ground. officials say there could be homeless people living inside. officials say three people may be missing. this morning we are getting an idea of how the teen hopped the fence. >> this boy hopped a fence sunday morning and eventually made his way to a boying 767 hawaiian air flight and stowed away in a wheel well in hawaii. not yet independently verified but you can see what is reported to be the boy's footprint. there is a second image you can see it shows numerous hand and foot princprints inside the doo.

he spent six hours before the flight on sunday morning. what isn't clear is how much of that time was spent on the ramp versus the wheel well. was he in the wheel well during the preflight inspections. the boy survived the five and a half hour journey to maui. despite the low oxygen and freezing temperatures unaware that they had a stow away onboard. >> it was five and a half hours and when we landed there was nothing on the tarmac and nothing that would seem unordinary. >> the teen transferred to santa clara high because of issues he was having in his english has a second language class.

the teen who lives in this home ran away stowing away in the aircraft with hopes of flying to africa to be with his mother. this teen is still in the hospital in hawaii he is doing fine and as i mentioned. he did survive the department of human services trying to figure out what to do with him. today in the bay. >> already bob, thank you. >> police are looking for two men who smashed through the front door of a store in belmont and stole cigarettes. they loaded the boxes of cigarettes into trash bags. >> it is 5:35. let's check in with

there is a serious accident. this is in petaluma it is a fire car accident. this is going to be a serious back up. if you look at the map and you see note a whole lot of red on the map. i'm assuming that lanes are open. the chp report did not specify on what was open. switching gears. you can see that traffic is starting to stack up here. the license is going to be turned on. through the pass we have that problem on 580. our final stop takes it into san jose lots of cars on the road here. again, no major accidents from san jose into palo alto into san

bus crashed two weeks ago. >> five of the victims were high school students. palo alto man recovering in a modesto hospital right now. the 26-year-old was rock climbing last sunday when he fell. he was too injured to move. i hit a ledge with a large rock. i hit my back on a boulder that was protruding off of a ledge that is what caused the injuries in my back. wind and a rock wall made it difficult to get to him. blades were ten feet from the wall. doctors say he will be fine and should be back in the area. >> 5:51 what
